Is this the end for the Morebas 17

Littlehampton- River Arun VLOG#2
zhlédnutí 1,6KPřed 3 lety
I head out of the Littlehapton Slipway on the River Arun out to sea hunting for Mackerel. A little lesson of the importance of proper preparation as I share with you how the big boat broke at the worse possible time. Also I've started importing stainless outboard trolleys so stick to the end to see just how good these are. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08W9XHNFK/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A3GAXRM1PMF...

I've been looking for one of these for as long as I have had the inflatable - Combining the ease of launching a boat and the benefits of compact storage.
NOW this is what owning a boat in the UK is REALLY like

Are inflatable boats the future for boating?

Since lock down we've not managed too much time on the water. This is the first time to blow the dust off the toys and get out and explore. This time its Aberdovey. If I can do it anyone can and this is the easiest way to get out there and have fun with a boat

Libby aged 2 hire a car for 4 days - we were end of season. a lot of hotels had closed down and we were the last guests at our hotel. The day we left it started to rain as we got on to our tranfer. Stayed at Tramontana Park Aparthotel and was well worth it. Paid £714 for the flights and aparthotel. £500 spending money was sufficient and that included hire of the car (£30 per day)
Suzuki 2.5hp Carburetor strip and idle fix

In the previous video we eliminated and ignition problems with the poor idle. In this video we focus or fuel problems and strip down the carburetor for a thorough clean. I show you the relevant bits to focus on. In the end we manage to get the motor idleing well - BUT how have we managed it.
Suzuki 2.5 rough idle - Attempting to fix by eliminating ignition problems.

We start at Aberdovey hoping to launch but the winds just become dangerous. 2nd plan is to fix the motor in the garage. I clean the old spark plug and re-gap - I then try a new spark plug in the garage off the boat to fix the idle problem. The idea is i'm trying to eliminate ignition problems for the rough and non existent idle. Failing that my last ditch attempt is to launch the motor on the b...
River Mersey adventure in an inflatable boat with Tohatsu 6HP

Well today the Tohatsu and the Seapro 360 were put through though their paces. Fighting a 10 knot tide was hard work but considering I was in the middle of a major shipping channel I felt completely safe with the boat and motor.

HI, Thank you for this video. I am looking for a choke knob and the fuel misture knob which you said you have replaced on this outboard and are esially available. could you please tell me or provide a link to where you got these. Thank you
I need those !! but cant fine them in Canada
That screw you took out to get to the main jet? That actually is the main jet. Comes in 3 sizes (62, 64, 66, dependent on year of engine), what's above that is called the main nozzle. Both need cleaning. If the main jet is blocked, not enough fuel is getting past to the needle. Clean/replace the main and you will be running without choke 😊
Hi just one thing i want to ask. What about gresing the neck where it turns? Mine is making a litle bit of noise and i cant find out how to greas it and when i move the engine it looks like it has just a litle bit of play too like its mowing up and down is that a problem? Or is it normal? Thankyou!😊
Thanks...have you done a video on how to remove the engine covers to be able to get to the carb and recoil starter? Thanks...
Hi, hope you see this even thought this video is 4 years old. I don't know how many hours I have driven mine, but not that many, I got mine last year. So I wonder if I follow your video, is that enough or do I have to go to a marine shop because there is some thing I can do, but not all so it has to go in for service?
Do not put grease on all bolts. Previous comments are correct. Could result in problems/damage. Do not put a new spark plug into a sooty, blackened hole. Use pipe cleaners or any non abrasive medium to clean out the burned material.
Is it normal for a small amount of water to come out of the plug where u connect the shifting rod together
Where can I get it?
One thought using the. Cereal bowl make sure it is large enough !! We didn't and the GL5 oil ran down our arms !!@..
waste of time blabber too much show no work done just blaa ba bla
Great video! Any tips on how to drain fuel after each use from the main container ? Or do you just have to run it until it's empty?
Hi, my 2.5hp was in storage for 5 year and would not run without choke. I have cleaned the carb twice and changed the oil. Still the same issue. I will not rev at all without dying. Could the spark plug be my issue? Many thanks. Good video 👍
MUSIC IS TORTURE..muffles the audio. What would have been a really useful video completely ruined... Just saying
My very first boat a morbas🤩 I recognise it just from the bow handrails. I loved that boat and now live aboard a 58ft fairline. You picked a perfect day for it 👍
Good video, I have one of these little outboards that I use as an auxiliary on my boat. Good service work through.
So whats the latest news on your boat? 😢
Hey, can you easly stand up even with airdeck without rigid floor?
hello. how you find a parts for repair this engine? you have service manual? thx
I got the same issues with my 6hp , greet info.
Im building my 3rd boat now. I got greedy. 15ft, 20ft, now 30ft. I swear im done with this one. My neighbors swear i enjoy building the boats. But i dont. And all my boats get used.
Where do I order these folding wheels from please.
Turn the music off
Are you familiar with the oil drain bolt has a gasket type washer that has to be replaced each time?
What is parts availability like for johnson outboards , looking at good used 5hp example, thanks in advance for any tips
I found your video helpful but difficult to listen to because of the background music. The music adds nothing, it is your comments and explanations that are so important. My suggestion... ditch the background music.
Do you trust that on the road? God forbid driving on a motor way with it. I have a foldable trailer it fits in between m passenger seat and the dash weighs 20kg and love it. Nowhere nears as good as yours but I don’t think I would trust yours on the road. Ray K uk 🇬🇧 YNWA
Dark lighting sucks otherwise good video
Hi mate have same engine not pumping water from the pee hole any ideas
Check behind the exhaust cover they are prone to salt collecting in there, Also check the thermostat
Hi, quick question about the PSI. I have a Tobin Sports boat (the costco one). The recommended PSI for that is 3.5 for the tubes and keel, and 5 for the air deck. The recommeded psi seems low for the keel and air deck, especially after seeing your recommended psi. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
i feel your pain i have smashed the front end of my scimitar so im going to fibreglass it my self .
Too much of your head and not enough of the dinghy
i agree was just about to comment maybe a video about himself and we would see more of the boat😅
Could you please let me know the size of the carburetor nozzle on this engine?
Hi, what length is your inflatable? There’s a company called bulldog folding trailers here in Australia, I think they have a eu distributer. This vid is the first I’ve seen with the crossbars to support the tubes. Great setup.
It’s always the idle jet. It’s under a screw under the top plate. The hole is smaller than a pin, so you have to soak it in carb cleaner and try and clear out that hole. You can barely see light through it when it’s clean. Once you get that clean it runs
Hi there, good video. I've just bought one of these boats do you know the age of the model and how would you rate it?
Hey, thanks for this video. I have basically the same motor and this helped me change the water pump and impeller. The only problem is I am finding it near impossible to reattach the lower unit. Trying to line up the linkage, water hose and spindle is nearly impossible as well. You did not show that step and I was wondering if there is a trick to it and how you did it. Thanks!
Where do you get that?
May i ask where you got the fuel shut off and choke valve and the idle valve as i am struggling to find them i know your video is 4 years old but i am trying everything i can to source them great video
If I'm trying to keep lightweight (putting it on a inflatable....mariner 4) are there any other small outboards you would recommend? I was thinking maybe the Yamaha 2.5 or the yamaha 3hp 2 stroke. they're both around 35 lbs. Any thoughts on those? Would they run into the same issue? Or should I just go with a 55lb thrust electric troller? Thank you in advance for your wisdom. Great video!
Wow sorry. That’s so depressing but I bet most older GRP boats have similar issues. You could buy a brand new boat for less than the fee quoted and that’s probably best option unless you have the time to do it all yourself. That’s the reason you see so many boats advertised as “project” as people get fedup halfway through a restoration due to the massive amount of work involved. 😢
Thanks, I just got a good second hand one and will follow your servicing before I use it 👌
Hope you enjoy it!
Where did you get the trailer from
the company went bust and I bought 2nd hand. I have been looking at getting them manufactured but EU type approval is expensive and seemingly necessary as well!!
I wish you had better light. I have a Yamaha 8 hp. The drummer is good. It was nice of the orchestra to show up.
Where can I get a trailer like this
Sir one video to what problem engine oil in water
Didn't show anything important when putting it back together. Lining up shaft, gear shift rod? Not much help.
Enjoyable
Hi do you know what weight they can carry
I had the exact scenario mate and the only thing I did that you didn't is clean the screw that you take out to get to the main jet. I couldn't understand, everthing seemed to be backwards ,it would only idol and rev with the choke put. But when I cleaned that screw it all flipped back to normal and now the choke works as it should. My problem and the reason I found your video seems to be the "air jets" and when I knock it in gear it dies or if I come off the throttle to quick it dies. Do you know about where is the factory setting for the fuel mixture screw?
i was a little more trial and error. They don't really seem to be made to alter etc.
