It wouldn’t work great as a vacuum but it would pull light dust away. The fan has a good bit of power to it.

I made some beeswax/coconut oil polish. For my one-and-only wood spoon. I had some beeswax left so I added it, making a much harder wax. Spoon shines much more now. But I also sanded it with 800 sandpaper... And I polished HARD!

I think your material prep is to blame. Try it with planed or unsanded (just sawn) endgrain, where the holes are not plugged with sanding dust. You could also do it with a vacuum, letting the wood soak wax when the air is at a lower pressure, then atmosphere would push the wax inside. You could use an immersion circulator and a vacuum sealer (sous vide) to achieve this

Thanks for making this video. Came here in the exact same position as you - looking at a Diablo Laminate speciality blade from the US to IE. Surprisingly even with shipping and import it works out economically. Only concern then being 5/8” to 30mm conversion. Not sure I’m as brave as you however (or know a CNC mill in Dublin who’d take this on) 🤣🇮🇪

I know this is an old video, but I couldn’t help but thank you for taking the time to show up close the consistency of each of your mixtures. There are so many videos about how to make it, but I couldn’t find any other than yours that actually showed what the results looked like up close. This really helps in determining what ratio one might want to use on their own. Again, I really appreciate it.

Good video. Couple of questions: 1: Do you rip the entire board, if so how do you deal with the last inch or so of width. No video I have watched ever addresses this point in the process which I think is more important than cutting equal strips. Second: During the first cut I saw the board want to climb up above the table/blade a little. Would a stop block of sorts clamped to the rear of the fence above the board be a good idea to prevent that or not. Thank You...

I have a question. I have a 12’x10’ workshop. I have a record dx1000 which is great for the larger sawdust from my band saw and bench top sander but the fine dust is bothering my lungs. I have been looking at a filter system and came across your video. Common sense that an extractor would work. My only question is…..Is there much dust deposited outside? Thanks for the great idea.

Hi, in my opinion, the wax will penetrate the wood fibers when it cools in the bath. This is because the air inside the wood contracts and sucks in the wax. You could see the air escaping as the wood was heated, and this pushed the wax out.
