Thanks NDOT. Who won?
Kinda silly.. but would be neat to see it from the trucks perspective. Looks fun to take that turn at relatively high speeds like that.
This actually makes quite a lot of sense even if it takes longer to get around. My guess is it significantly reduces accidents because you are only crossing/joining one direction of travel at a time instead of two.
Accident prevention is one reason for using these.
This looks 1937.
they're called traffic lights, ever heard of 'em?
Traffic lights are insanely dangerous on high-speed rural expressways. Having to stop at high speeds increases red light running and angle crashes. And the volumes here are likely too low to warrant a signal.
@@traffic.engineer fair enough
This looks wholly and completely unnecessary.
If you do not believe in safety and efficiency.
Please explain, why am I watching this?
This is beyond stupid. Let's hope you don't have to have a busload of children t-boned by a transport before you figure it out.
Thats a michigan left..... what you yall saying?
The Michigan left would still allow traffic to go straight at the intersection with a wide median (where a freeway was planned). This requires the sidestreet to redirect to the u-turn even if going straight.
Why? An explanation would be helpful.
These prevent people from having to take a dangerous left turn across multiple lanes of traffic on a wide road with fast-moving traffic. It allows them to turn right first, then do a U-turn
@@homuraakemi9556 I'm sorry...I still don't get it. Motorists are still making a dangerous left turn across multiple lanes of traffic.
Yeah, I can't see how this is in any way safer than a standard intersection with a turn lane. For what it cost to build you could easily have put in a traffic signal if you are worried about safety. I think this is a solution looking for a problem.
This has drivers dealing with only one direction of traffic at a time instead of looking for an opening both ways at once. A unique approach.
@@steveb9151rather than looking traffic in both directions mainly (constantly turning the head left and right), the driver has to just look left when making a right turn. Then just has to look at oncoming traffic making the u-turn.
great video. School bus uses the bottom rcut and then uses the top rcut so it's either very confused or it and the semi are testing out these u turn lanes for the footage
Slowly, veeeery very slowly, americans are figuring out roundabouts. Give it another century and they're golden.
You know we have roundabouts and we know how to use them? It doesn’t make sense to put on one a 55-75mph road. That would be huge and a waste of money as there are better smaller less impactful options
@@joshrockwell8913 Haha I get you, I was just teasing. I guess the adjacent land owners wouldn't be amazed about a roundabout either.
@@MrSaemichlaus oh, sorry then for my reply. That’s the big headed American coming through
As a European, I have no actual use for this footage. But am I disappointed watching it? Were some very stable aerial shots of what seems a clever way to save larger vehicles some time. Very relaxing to watch too 🙂
I gotta ask why does this exist?
I’m wondering the same thing 🤔
Really????this looks like something North Dakota would come up with!!!!
Nebraska Style Reality TV?
I was convinced that oncoming traffic was going at least 140mph until the truck whipped a U'ey in 3 seconds...I assume this is sped up lol
NICE FLYIN, G! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK IMMA KEEP WATCHIN YOUR VIDS
Why?
Can't say for sure but I'd wager that big rigs can't make the turn in the intersection thanks to the median, cars choosing to use the secondary turn are either confused by a median dividing the turn lanes or just bad drivers in general. Lots of reasons why turn lanes get medians, eventually they will be the norm.
Because look around, only thing else happening out there is corn growing.
Looks to be to stop straight through traffic attempting to cross two lanes (in each direction) of high speed traffic at once.
Good way to make sure people don’t have to dart across 4 lanes and not get hit by 70mph cars. I bet in the future this’ll end up as a diamond interchange like in Schuyler which is overall safer.
Wow that looks like an accident waiting to happen
diverging diamond interchanges are far safer in terms of collisions, with only two phases for signals and no left turns into oncoming traffic, and can allow for faster times merging on or off the highway
Not the ones that were built 200 years ago in the cities, Truck are a hazard no matter what
what program was this? Could you do this on a SIM CITY type program?
2019 looked better😂
👍
Your signage at the Van Dorn Exit going east is inadequate. Hundreds of semi's continue to use the old Highway 2 every day. Adding a Highway 2 symbol with the distance to the new Highway 2 (5 miles) on the now blank space at the top of the current sign where it used to show the exit would help. Designating Nebraska Parkway local delivery only for CDL drivers like other cities have done would help too, and allow NDOT to enforce it. Lincoln taxpayers will end paying for unnecessary wear and tear on Nebraska Parkway in the upcoming years because it is no longer a designated highway with the new Highway 2 being the South Beltway. Also, the light up sign at the east end of Nebraska Parkway telling passing through traffic where to go wouldnt be necessary if you tackled the problem at the start of the problem, the Van Dorn exit. Looking at your east beltway plans, it shows a circular exit off from the right hand turn lane off of Nebraska Parkway to go east. That is by far a way better design because traffic flow from Nebraska Parkway would be continuous traffic flow and because exiting traffic from the South Bypass turning east back to Lincoln wouldn't have to wait for a continuous line of traffic during busy hours. For as long as the bypass has been open, these shouldnt still be a problem.
Awesome👏👍big pozz👋🙆🙆🍀🍀🌻

Hey I really need help understanding site Manager. If anyone is willing to help me I would greatly appreciate it !!
The cause of the congestion comes well after the merge point. And only so many cars can pass thru it at any given time, regardless of how they merged before they got there. The zipper simply creates two shorter lines out of one longer one that can block ramps. But it is still the same number of cars waiting for their turn to pass the obstruction. the zipper does not save time. what they call a reduced backup is still the same number of cars. just arranged differently. Also the drivers in the dead lane are the only ones that merge. The drivers in the thru lane do not merge and usually owe you nothing aside from common courtesy.

Who is this professor/ lecturer? Where can I get more lectures of him?
Great in-depth information to the sampling process of an inspector at the asphalt plant!
Very informative while also being easy to follow. Great video for newcomers to asphalt lay down or those who need a refresh.
All this does is slow down traffic flow by 40% and road rage increases.
You took a highway interchange and a roundabout and made them significantly more confusing somehow. The only reason it reduces accidents is because everyone is driving slow to figure this out.
Why the heck is this on my feed? XD
The CZcams algorithm is truly a magical thing.
On mine as well...
bruh so fuckin true
The fun thing is that by you commenting on the video, it will let CZcams know that you like this type of content.
It's great to have this done. Props to everyone who made it happen so fast. One concern is the 120th interchange. I see there's a future circular on ramp from Nebraska Parkway for eastbound Highway 2 traffic once the east bypass is built, but as of now there is enough traffic coming out of Lincoln to make it almost impossible at times to turn left/westbound onto the old highway once you exit the bypass at 120th while traveling east. One of the roundabout designs similar to the other interchanges would have been much more efficient for traffic flow. At high traffic volume times you're going to traffic issues similar to Highway 2 traffic at the I-29 interchange for anyone trying to head west off of the interstate. Building the circular east bound on ramp would have prevented that because Nebraska Parkway traffic would have it had a designated turn lane that didn't interfere those trying to exit the new bypass.
When is 83 near Chadron going to open?
Great work from everyone involved! Congratulations!
Always gotta add footage of those stupid ass huskers.....or something to do with them loosers
Why not just have an acceleration lane? Making a left turn, you must clear the traffic on your left, which you would have to do anyway with an rcut intersection. But once you have cleared the left side, you proceed into the acceleration lane on your left and don’t need to worry about traffic on the right until you near the end of the acceleration lane, by which point you will be up to speed and simply need to merge. The rcut, you still need to clear both left side lanes after making a right hand turn then, lane change, lane change, left u turn, now you’ve got two more lanes to clear before you can proceed. Our province is considering this on a divided highway that currently has acceleration lanes. I foresee this causing major accidents. Currently the speed limit is 110k/hr. Two lanes going that speed while some guy turns right and frantically tries to hop over two lanes so he doesn’t miss his u turn. Yeah, I can see that going well. (Sarcasm)
Does this only go to Hwy 2 on the east side?? If so ,why didn't they continue it up to I-80 on the east side?? I'm confused -
p̴r̴o̴m̴o̴s̴m̴
Nah fuck that, just cutting the line for POS that can't wait, tired of those greedy assholes
How many other highway projects been pushed back because of this one. The Norfolk Fremont HWY 275 is 30 years late????????
thanks for the update. excited to drive on this bad boy
From WC, if you merge when you first see the lane Closes sign there would be no slowing of traffic! It is just the idiots that have to rush to the merge to, as they think get ahead of every one else , that screws up the merge and actually slows everything down!
