Dunno what you're doing here but I do keyboards for fun and for commission sometimes. I love building custom pc's too but they are a tiny bit expensive to build as a hobby.
I don't really check my youtube email that often, so if you would like to contact me for a possible commission or just to say hi then add me on discord!

Mode Sonnet Sound Test 🌹 | Built w/ HMX Xinhai Switches
I'm back!
Specs:
Keyboard: Mode Sonnet w/ SS accent, copper wave internal weight, iso top mount
Keycaps: Keykobo Darling
Switches: HMX Xinhai (45g ver, stock) unikeyboards.com/products/hmx-xinhai-linear-switch-factory-lubed-edition-10pcs?sca_ref=3895883.btllwITFwD

It's been a while. I've finally started to settle down after the start of summer break and sorting out various side-quests that popped up alongside the start of summer. This is my Darling-themed sonnet. I had it cerakoted by LoobedSwitches to match the color scheme of the Darling keycap set. While it's not visible in the thumbnail or in the video, the bottom case is a beautiful match to the ruby red that fills the modifiers. I'm quite pleased with this build. This is likely my best looking keyboard (subjective) and among the best sounding keyboards I own (also subjective). Keyboard aside, I'm looking forward to making more keyboard related videos (mostly sound tests lol) while I have access to my newfound free time.

The durock white lotus switches were sent to me by LumeKeebs. Many thanks to them for sending these over! If you're interested in light tactiles, the white lotus is a great option to get that cherry mx brown feel without the notorious scratch or pinginess. These switches sound and feel great straight out of the box, but they indeed benefit from lubing as a few switches in my batch of 70 had a t...

BEAUTIFUL
You're beautiful!
@@shibekeebs =)
I just fell out of my bed 😮
haha I'll take that as a compliment
I absolutely adore those pics btw!
@@shibekeebs it’s a beautiful build!
This is gonna be a great guide for me XD
half of the stream is me tuning stabilizers lol (the pains of building a full size keyboard) feel free to skip around!
@@shibekeebs I am replacing my stabilisers in a little (using the apparently trash stock ones) so I’m just learning how to put them together, throwing them in and I’ll change them in a couple weeks or something like that. No point tuning the stock ones that I’m going to replace right?
@@thereaper8593 all up to you! depends on if you can bear the stock stabs for the time in between lol
@@shibekeebs11 of the key caps are broken so no keyboard for now but thanks for the vid to keep me entertained without demanding all my attention.
@@thereaper8593 ouch! How did that happen? Also, thanks for watching! It might be a little boring tho haha. Hopefully I can get back to making more content since I'm out of school for the summer!
What type of screwdriver is that?
this one! www.amazon.com/dp/B09L5XWCNY
@@shibekeebs thanks
What stabs?
They are the clip in neo stabs that came with the board 👍
@@shibekeebsthanks I subbed
Do you need to put those stabilizers in (including the ones that came with the keyboard) or can you just plug the switches in without them?
If what you're asking is if you can plug in everything and use it without the stabilizers, yes, you can, but the larger, stabilized keys will be very wobbly, and the spacebar will be close to unusable 👍
@@shibekeebs gotcha. Been thinking about building my own, so I'm a bit of a newbie at this
Something in between, my first build was thock, and i always had clack before, so now i settled on creamy
i rlly want to try out these switches but I dont know if they will have the same top out sound as mx blacks since i rlly like mx blacks top out since they're rlly full and dense
I personally don't find the macchiato's top out to be similar to that of mx blacks. If I were to compare their top out sounds, macchiatos are much louder and higher pitched. In comparison, the top out of the mx blacks are rather subdued. If you're concerned about getting a proper top-out sound, I'd go ahead and try some, but if you're looking for the full, midtone top-out of cherry switches, then I would recommend skipping these switches :)
dont want to be an azzhole but I hate both, I wish my keyboard to be as silent as possible, even if it will be against physics 😄😄😄
It's all about preference! Sometimes I get tired of my loud boards and opt to use my silent one until I feel back in the mood 👍
I may be an old fart n all... but having survived to the 30-45 + minutes of intermittent screeching and grinding noises while uploading games via a cassette tape (Yes, you read that right kids, CASSETTE TAPED GAMES) into my Atari 800 XLS, the discussion about how a keyboard sounds and the indistinguishable (for my deafened ears anyway) differences between clackin or thokin seem utterly surreal and absurd. People my age are the ones who actually pioneered the early expansion of computing consciousness through wired, telephone line communications into BBSs before the advent of Internet -yes, there was something else BEFORE the Internet- and via Internet after the first step into the Singularity (do your homework and read Kurzweil and / or Greg Egan.... it's worth it!) became reality. The audition damage caused by THOSE sounds (czcams.com/video/gsNaR6FRuO0/video.html ahhhh, those days!!!!) is also exquisitely irreparable....maybe that's why people my age find actual "music" such as trap or reggaetton just a bunch of shitty chords and cannot even distinguish one from the other...it's a blessing rather than a curse, believe me. We stroked our first letters of text and programmed our first lines of code in Turtle or DOS (the code coming alive on our green only -Yes, it says GREEN ONLY- Hercules Graphics card powered Monitors which was the Elite graphic tech at the time) in what was the only available option at those primitive times.... MECHANICAL KEYBOARDS. So yes: mechanical keyboards are another major comeback, revival, recovery, and rescue operation coming straight out of the late 80s. Aint the 80s the best times ever!!?? Yes they undoubtedly were
I really appreciate the elaborate comment! While I'm quite young compared to the history of computer and keyboard technology, I've certainly heard tales of the primitive forms of home computers, as well as the rich history of what are now considered "vintage" keyboards. I find it particularly interesting to see how influential early forms of the keyboard are. Cherry spearheaded the hobby of mechanical keyboards into what it has become today, and their early products are still well renowned and sought after for their irreplicable quality of switches. I find it incredible to see how this niche hobby has rapidly evolved over time, yet pioneers of the mechanical keyboard still hold their charm after so many years. Still, there is undeniable passion in this community to pursue the appeal and nostalgia of early keyboards. This video is one of my oldest, so my perception of the hobby was quite premature. I keep older videos such as this one to remind myself of the simple-minded curiosity that led me into this rabbithole. In the point I reached in this interest of mine, however, I can truly appreciate the hobby for its artistic qualities and rich past that it represents. I find myself very fortunate to have stumbled upon this rather particular hobby!
i love macchiatos, neo also ez slapper too. great build

No Windows or Mac designated keys? Guess this is for gaming on Linux, DOS or RPi. Keys do sound very good through.
Indeed, there are no system specific keys! The layout is called WKL, short for win(dows)-key-less. The only reason for the layout is for aesthetics, as many (me included) like the look of wkl and also don't use the key very often.
