Noodle boards are a great decorative addition to add to your kitchen. A noodle board is a board that sits over your stovetop range when the stovetop is not in use. It's intended to be used as not only an extension of your kitchen counter top, but also used as a decorative item that covers the stovetop when it is not in use. In this video, I will show and explain how I make my noodle boards. It ...
Listen...Don't buy any fancy dye stuff with limited colors. USE ARTIST OIL PAINT...mix it with mineral spirits* and create ANY color you can imagine. Been doing this since the 60's when I learned it from my Mom. ( loads of other thinners work but I think mineral spirits is best. Enamel reducer is also good)
We're do you get the green and red stain? I can't find them.
thank you, excellent tips.
Thank you for the feedback!
Just what I needed. Thanks!
Thanks for the feedback, I am glad that you found it helpful!

Hi Rico thanks for the support and I am glad that the video helped. I thought that the kit was worth it considering the price.
One of the most helpful, useful, product reviews I've seen on any product. Thank you!
Thank you! I am glad that you enjoyed and I appreciate the feedback. I am still happy with the planer.
Can I use acrylic paint?
I have not tried this method, but now I may after you mentioned it.
Can this technique be used for outside projects, or is it just for inside projects? Thank you
As long as you protect it with an outdoor polyurethane you should be good
@@UpNorthHandyman oh I see. Great advice. Thank you!
You can make any color wood stain you want by using Artists Oil paint mixed with mineral spirits. Been doing it since the 70's. And using a rag is better than foam brushes.
Thanks for sharing the advice!
Hey man. This is a phenomenally well done video for us that want to get into woodworking. Thank you for the great work! I hope you continue to put out educational videos like this; videos that not only show people the step-by-step process, but also how to make sure shop equipment is dialed in right to execute the job. Thanks again!
I appreciate that, will do!
nice design, consider epoxy or hdpe feet to extend life
Great suggestion!

does the wood have to be wire bushed, I am using it for building a deck?
I wouldn't brush it if you building a deck. I would do a light burn instead.
So I bought the blue dye… here is the issue I am running into… walnut wood does not hold color well, nor does it seal the color you dye it.. lol any tips?
Nothing on walnut, can you do maple instead?
Gorgeous!
Thank you!
I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times. 78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways. 81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times. 88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders. 92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified. 99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations." 102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." .....2 Esdras 7:75 //////////////////
Hi contacted you five months ago and I asked some questions and based on your comments I went ahead and purchased one. Now I have another question.. Let’s say I have three pieces of 2X4 and each one them is 2-7/16 , 2-3/8, and 2-5/16 how do I make all three of them being 2-5/16 without manually measuring them. I appreciate your input. Thanks
I would set the height on the Guage to 2 3/8, and plane the 2 7/16 down. Then set the Guage to 2 5/16 and plane both 2 3/8 boards down to 2 5/16
So grateful this video exists!!! The measurement process is no longer daunting me. A big thank you!
Thanks I am glad it helped!
What is the exact name of the red stain that was used on this video?
Keda alcohol liquid dye - Crimson red
how would i get this color? hex code 32ff14
Check out the Keda Dye youtube channel, you might find it there. He does a lot of different color combinations. Other than that I would just experiment and add blue to the yellow until you get the color matched. That is a pretty bright green
@@UpNorthHandyman staining a guitar, figured I could maybe finally have my favorite green blasting from it too 😂
Yours is a type 1 made in Taiwan. So is the type 12 made in china the better one, or is the type 12 made in Taiwan as well?
This is awesome!!! Have you ever tried it on something like basswood since it doesn’t have much grain visibility? Would it help pull out more grain from it?
Thanks! I have not tried on basswood.
@@UpNorthHandyman thank you for the reply. I’m considering doing this to my Ibanez RG570 which is currently jewel blue, but I love natural wood. I’m not sure if I should use a brush on stripper, or a heat gun. I’m still researching. Do you have any ideas? Thank you for your experience.
@@UpNorthHandyman also, I found a video showing various basswood staining techniques, and when he prepped with shellac and white spirits, it brought out the grain texture when he stained it! If I do that first, and then Shou Sugi Ban, perhaps it will work well. I will test on another piece first of course.
I've never stained a guitar, but I've been wanting to do mine for a long time now. How about sanding the finish off?
Yes do test pieces, I always do multiple test boards
Can you use for an outdoor application?
I don't see why not, as long as you maintain it with a good UV protection for exterior you should be good.
I have one of these and everything he said is 100% accurate. Great review
Thanks, I still own it and think it is a great planer for the money
This is incredible work!!
Thank you!
These just dropped to $488 on Am zon, seems like a great value
If you can find them right now for under $700 it's a good deal
You said that the medium you use effects the saturation of the color. You only used water as your medium, perhaps the cooler colors would have better color, but you didn't do that so there is no way to know.
Well, if a foam brush is superior, why are you using a rag?
Didn't have any foam brushes at time of video.
As they say in Boston to uppity people, relax guy. It's an instructional video, not a political video.
Dude relax. 😂
Awesome
Thanks!
Great tutorial! I am excited to try this technique!
Thanks I am glad that you enjoyed it!
It's called burning wood where I come from. I don't know what shitty shitty bang bang is.
That is so awesome
Thanks!
I really liked your review. It help me decide to purchase a dewalt 735x (the model 12)
Thanks I am glad that it helped!
amazing!!! thank u
I am glad that you enjoyed the video!
Too much work, I just want to pour, and use !!
Great video, what brand stain and poly finish do you use?
Thanks! Keda liquid dye and minwax satin polyurethane. I have a video on how to mix and apply. czcams.com/video/5voY9tYgzpw/video.htmlsi=ZrvMR5lLnN6ulsaG
this used to be the thing in the 60's spanish style furniture australia
Would adding a small amount of black to the green, blue, purple make it darker ? That way you don’t have to double up on lighter colors?
I haven't tried that yet, but it is worth trying!
It certainly make it darker though the intensity of the color would not increase.
Amazing
Thanks, I am glad that you enjoyed the video!
Could you use a grinder instead of the electric drill?
I haven't tried that yet, I would imagine it would give similar results, great idea!
Kick A$$ bro, the best i have seen so far.
saving to fav and will use for my next project
Thanks! I am glad that you enjoyed the video!
Green 🔥🔥🔥🔥
What kind of wheel are you using in the grinder?
Great video!
Thank you I am glad that you enjoyed it!
And your whole putting the screw in the end for the vise is brilliant. I love LOVE STAINING WOOD with colors like this. This is awesome
Thanks! If you like the colors, I have another video you can check out that explains how to make them.
Soooo you have a really nice piece of wood. 😊 you are about worth watching over and over but it's not cuz of your wood... your super gorgeous. Js
Thank you for your kind words!
I'm not trying to sound lame or like a hippie, but it's where the world went wrong. Long ago girls stopped being nice to each other cuz and we as one humanity has so much to say but the studder or come to a loss of words when it comes to being nice to each other. Now I may have been flirting with you but I'm all over any social platform with my words of kindness and not flirting but trying to build people up. cuz that's how the social Networks should be used... it's a tool, you get 2 choose how to use it. I choose 2 be positive and 2 try to bring a positive reinforcement to all of this. plus, it was really nice of you to make this video and show people how to do it. Thank you
Should you sand after doing the burn or apply the stain then do the typical post staon sanding process?
It's really up to you. If you sand after the burn, you will remove the charing. For a light burn I will sand, lightly burn, stain, the poly.
