Australian Volunteers International was established in 1951 and is Australia’s longest running international volunteer organisation.
AVI exists to achieve community-determined development outcomes through the exchange of skills and knowledge by connecting people, organisations and communities, both within Australia and internationally.
Our programs are not “off-the-shelf” voluntourism, they are programs where we know the change is wanted, achievable, impactful and sustainable.
We invest in long-term partnerships with a range of businesses, governments and non-profit organisations that flourish into deep and rewarding cross-sector exchanges.

UniGO Pilot 2024
In January 2024, 173 University of Tasmania students embarked on a three-week immersive travel experience on six different route itineraries in Malaysia, Vietnam and Indonesia. This was the pilot for UniGO, a new 25 credit point elective unit allowing students to explore the connections between place, culture, technology and sustainability on a fully funded study tour, immersing themselves in sustainability projects within a Southeast Asian context. The program has been generously funded by the New Colombo Plan and the University of Tasmania, making the opportunity accessible for students who might not otherwise be able to travel.
AVI is proud to be the implementing partner in this unique program, playing a role in program design, risk and incident management, student travel preparation, in-country support and program monitoring, learning and evaluation.

This are some of the best doctors in the pacific Islands the nation of Solomon Islands is blessed because of this doctors.
There is a great need to improve the rural health and medical services in the country. We need more doctors in the Provincial Hospitals with more emphasis on lifestyle medicine or preventative medicine. We still have a long way to go right at the village level and empower villagers to detect health risk and intervene early to address the risk before complications or sicknesses happen. Building big hospitals will not address or solve the current alarming rate of NCDs in the country. We need to go where the disease starts which is at home, kitchen, table, barbecue plate etc.. we need more tap turners. The focus of health services must be towards rural areas where 80 percent of the people are.
Most don't travel to Cuba. Most travel to the regional island countries i.e. Fiji and PNG. Get your numbers right

No wonder plenty unnecessary deaths occurring at hospitals..come back tomorrow for review always
Where is your office in Solomon islands
Iam a Solomon islander and this is a major problem in our country but every year Solomon gov sent and spent millions of dollars sending students to study medicine abroad.yet there's not enough Doctors and nurse in the province's of our country.
Send more specialist in different areas of internal medicine to study is much better.. And improve facilities..We need independent practitioners..not to depend on others
