2001 Dodge Ram 1500 Rust Repair take 2 PART 1

Take 2!! Rattle can restoration didn’t last. Time to up my game. whole truck stripped to primer or bare metal. All rust cut out and replaced with new body panels.(The entire bottom of truck box and new door skins on both front doors) Then prime and painted with base coat & clear. This will be my first time doing most of this stuff so follow along if you’re interested in taking a bite out of more than you can chew as well.

Like lipstick on a pig. These aluminum runabouts are found all over the country for dirt cheap. I picked this one up and jazzed it up a bit. In less than a week so we had a boat to pull the kids tubing and teach them to ski. A simple project for a DIY’er.

Carburetor replaced with a $20 carb from China. Mower would start and run for a few minutes then die. Noticed what seemed to be fuel in the oil. I could have most likely done a rebuild on the carb but it was easier and cheaper to just order a new carb.

Rust bucket restoration of a 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan. Van was lookin rough and kidlet’s were learning to drive. We wanted to give them something decent to drive so I fixed this up with rattle can paint job. Regular old rustolium rattle can paint then clear coated with 2k clear also from a rattle can.

I recently read somewhere that our youth don’t have anything to do around the area. I’ve got to call BULLSHIT on that one. This multi-use trail is free and can be walked, snowshoed, or biked year round. They are working to expand it and you can add the ski trail to your loop in the summer spring and fall. All you have to do is get out there and enjoy!

34 mile fully loaded test ride in -5 degrees. Under dressed to start. Then changed and was over dressed. Then finally shed a base layer and finally got it right which enabled me to complete the desired miles for the day.

Truck was becoming a rust bucket. Had I not acted now it would have been unsalvageable by the end of the winter. It’s a shitty way to paint a vehicle, but it’s a good way to learn to paint prep a car. If you aren’t will to make mistakes you will never learn from said mistakes.
