Explaining 60s Wedding Fashion
Hello dolls, đŒ
and welcome to "Explaining 60s Wedding Fashion"!
Join me on a trip through time back to the fabulous weddings of the 1960s as we're going to look at some of the most beautiful wedding dresses of the decade!
The early 1960s retained some of the classic elements of the 1950s, but soon enough, bridal fashion began to evolve. A-line silhouettes replaced the full skirts of the previous decade, and empire waists became the most popular cut for brides. Sweetheart necklines and long sleeves were replaced by high necks, three-quarter lengths, and capped sleeves. By the mid-1960s, bridal couture saw more radical changes that would have shocked conservative brides of the 1950s. The tea-length dress of the '50s evolved into the miniskirt, and mod-styled dresses became popular for trendier brides. Patterns, colors, texture, and shape were all played with during this vibrant decade.
When model Pattie Boyd married George Harrison of The Beatles in 1966, her wedding outfit perfectly captured the mod spirit. She wore a Mary Quant-designed dress with a high neck, long sleeves, and a short hemline. Pattie accessorized with white tights and shoes, creating a chic and youthful bridal look that was quintessentially â60s.
Celebrity weddings in the 1960s played a significant role in shaping bridal fashion. Icons like Pattie Boyd and Sharon Tate set trends that were quickly adopted by brides around the world. These high-profile weddings were often covered extensively in the media, influencing the choices of countless brides-to-be.
By the late 1960s, the influence of the hippie movement began to seep into wedding fashion. "Flower child" aesthetics became popular, with brides opting for more relaxed and bohemian styles. Empire waists, flowing fabrics, and daisy patterns were all the rage. Brides often wore flowers in their hair, and wedding ceremonies became more informal and intimate.
In 1968, actress Sharon Tate married director Roman Polanski in a wedding that epitomized the late '60s bohemian vibe. Tate wore a silk mini-dress designed by Alba, featuring a high neckline and long sleeves, with a short, skirt. She completed her look with a simple hairstyle adorned with flowers, embodying the carefree spirit of the time.
1960s Wedding fashion remains a nostalgic lacy and crochet minidress dream capturing the era's dreamy weddings.
Sending you dolls the biggest hug, thank you for watching! đ
All my lovin,
xx Emma đ

Iv'e just trimmed my sideburns down a bit, they were starting to get massive like the 5th beatle george best.đââïž
Love the dress I wl be wearing my boots just like your in September for 60s night out and my black shorts not sure what colour tights to wear What do think amma
I have really enjoyed all series you have been amazing and so beautiful Emma â€â€
You should turn the volume up in your clips, one can barely hear anything.
âI love you, babyâ †Yay for wedding month! đ Excited to watch all the upcoming content. By the way, the podcast was delightful; congrats!
Thank you Emma it was so fun to see your outfits it inspired me to find some 60s and 70s looks and how they were accessible to achieve đ
This was rape. Period. Minors cannot consent to sex with adults.
Cool outfit, you know how to put an outfit together.đ
Iâve enjoyed this series and 60âs fashion!
Woohooo
Cool song,cool dress.đ
Like the long wedding dress, but now i like the short dress, simple but nice.you make it sound so exciting, your going to look amazing in yours em.đ
I was planning on two dresses as well. I have one that is Jessica McClintock and is the long A-line style with a high neckline. Iâm still looking for a second one more like Sharon Tateâs. I would love to see some more shoe inspo for the different styles!
It was a really fun serie, thank you ! It really inspired me for some of my looks ! I can wait for the next serie đ„°
Poor Sharonđąđąshould have married Jay Sebring
Yellow look very good on youâ€
Congratulations Emma have wonderful time
Our thrift stores here in Canada are nothing like this. I wish.
Great video, keep up the good workđ
I love the outfit! â€
Love these explaining 60s fashion videos very cool and interesting!
Hello dear, love the video!𧥠I got married last year and did a lot of decor myself with thrift finds, it was so lovely. đ»đ I would recommend giving away the cups and plates to the guests as a present, because otherwise you will end up with a lot of pretty things that are hard to throw away but also donât all fit in your home. Iâm speaking from experience.đ Thanks again for the video and have sooo much fun at your wedding. It goes by so quickly so take a deep breath a few times that day to enjoy and take it all in.â„ïžđ€
My favourite of this collection is the 60's style beatnik blazer style đ„đ„. Cool collection emmađââïž
Hands down, the prettiest woman on CZcams.
I never find anything at the thrift stores anymore. Here in Canada, it's gotten terrible. Prices are high and people pick the stores over to resell online. I've also had health issues lately and surgery and I find pants highly uncomfortable and I have to wear stretch and the exact right rise or I can't wear it, plus I'm 5'3" so any flared pants are pretty much out for me which makes me very sad as they have always been my favorite.
You are literally summer. Like exactly what comes on mind when one thinks of summerđđ§Ąđđ§Ąđso bright and beautiful đ§Ąđ
You're beautiful and you inspire me
Love those boots
Every thing so cute Emma
Just beautiful amazing eamma I live dark bule â€just great
Suddenly i'm not half the man i used to be , there's a shadow hanging over međââïž
Well styled emma đ„đââïž
Yeah baby!!
Sick, man. Do they count as pantsuits? Both look like a top then a pant but either way both of the print patterns are high envy
âđœđ§Ąđ
Coooll
Music for days?
It's Instram only?
Those rings are soo cute
Emma, could you do a video on the popular 1960's Beatnik style? Please include more footage so it's like a real doco.
Great video! đ
Excited for this podcast! You have a great radio voice
You are right you cant go to a charity shop / thrift store expecting to get something you want everytime, but thats part of the fun of it because when you do go and find something it makes it feel even more excitingl.I cant believe how different you look in your earlier videos. Still amazing just differentđââïž
ModPowerâźïž
You remind me of Zooey Deschanel. So pretty.
Love itâ€
Uhhhh! 60s were THE BEST!!! Love the space age aestheticđđ„°
Wow, such a fun vlog! I canât wait for the podcast tomorrow â€
Cool outfit em,so flowyđ
