ANSYS 2020 Tutorial: Reinforced Concrete T-Joint
ANSYS Workbench V2020 R2 Tutorial for a Reinforced Concrete T-Joint using CPT215 Elements with Reinforcement type option in Mechanical.
***NOTE: You must use the same version of ANSYS 2020 R2. There are reports that newer versions of ANSYS no longer work with this tutorial.***
I demonstrate how to use the latest modeling technology to simulate a reinforced concrete T-joint using Ansys Workbench version 2020 R2. In this example The simulation results will be compared to that of actual experimental results.
This tutorial we will go over importing the geometry, setting boundary conditions where we will fix the column in place and apply a displacement of 80mm downwards at the end of the beam, and finally go over viewing the results which include the homogenized tension & compression damage by using APDL commands:
PLNSOL,MPDP,TOTA: Homogenized total damage (TOTA)
PLNSOL,MPDP,COMP: Homogenized tension damage (TENS)
PLNSOL,MPDP,TENS: Homogenized compression damage (COMP)
PLNSOL,MPDP,RW: Split weight factor (RW)
We will also be using CPT215 elements (Drucker-Prager Microplane Model) and the Reinforcement Type option within Mechanical to model the rebar. This is an improvement compared to my previous video which uses SOLID65 elements and REINF265 commands.

i think we can not take fixed support in the simply supported beam as it requires both ends to rotate in the simply supported beam. no moment reaction will be at the end.

Hello! First of all, I hope all is well with you! I'm a new follower of the channel and I want to congratulate you on your video and CZcams channel! I watched your video "ANSYS 17.0 Tutorial - Non Linear Plastic Deformation I-Beam", which helped me, but I'm having some difficulties in my study. I'm testing an aluminum spar with 4 flanges and 1 web, with holes to join them together. I set the boundary conditions, simulated a non-linear structural analysis in ANSYS, but I can't understand the results, can you help me, please? I need to understand what force/moment makes the structure yield and what force/moment makes the structure actually break. 1. To do this, I have to analyze the equivalent (von-Mises) stress, correct? I see if the maximum equivalent (von-Mises) stress that the simulation gave me is higher than the yield stress of the material and then if it is higher than the resistance stress? (And should I look at the equivalent (von-Mises) stress or the maximum normal stress?) 2. Also, how do I know the structure has broken? In the simulation this never happens, I increase the force and it just starts to deform plastically, until it reaches a point where it can no longer be calculated, as it stops converging (this in cases of very exaggerated and meaningless forces, but the point is that visually the structure never breaks...how do I know it broke through the values?) I will be waiting for your response, please. Best wishes for you and your channel. Best regards, Ana

I have a question. I'm doing my project on magnetorheological shear thickening polishing for brittle materials. However, I'm doing simulations with ANSYS software for CFD, and I have obtained satisfactory results. But for static structure, I want to check when cracks and fractures will occur and how the penetration of grits or abrasive particles could impact this. Could you please help me with this?
