Les Morts Dansant is a song about WW1. it tells a story of a British soldier that was executed my firing squad cowardice. Many of these young men (boys) were suffering from shell-shock. It happened more times then we would like to think. There was no better English rock band in the 1980s. Period. Very underrated. I wish we could have such great songwriting today.

Never heard Magnum before, but i heard such music a million times. Why 80s classic rock bands all sounded ( and looked) the same??? That's why i prefer new wave and synth pop bands more than classic rockers!
They have done so much, they are much more than this song going back to the 70s and up until 2024, so many great albums

Although I've got to say I think it's a good rockin' song, but lets be honest folks the band look fuckin' ridiculous, even considering the era it was released in. I cant see this being anything like born in the USA, they never looked great like outer pretty boys of the 80s rock age, but they were not about their looks, it was about making great music

Magnum - One of the best Rock bands of all time - IMO
How were these guys never up there with the likes of Bon-Jovi, Rolling Stones, etc etc.... They were MEGA! Even now... listening to their stuff 35 years later and it's STILL FANTASTIC! Bob has to be one of the hardest working British Rock Stars EVER! And he's STILL going! What a guy!! 🤘🤘

Because they were basic and had nothing that exploded in people's ears. If they were as good as bon Jovi or Def leppard then they would have got the same popularity. They were given music videos, radio airtime, concerts, the same as the big bands and still couldn't make it. That should tell you something and if not then I can't explain it any simpler

I don't think they never were a hair band. I always compared them to more Toto or REO. They came at a time when hairband was at it's height. Had they been discovered 8 years earlier, it would been a different story.

Actually, I think the opposite is true. It was more a case of a serious band (melodic rock with a touch of hard rock and prog) being pushed by their record label to adopt the hair band image in a misguided strategy to crack the US market. There was a LOT of that going on around that time when MTV was so powerful.
