Oh wow, I was at this show and didn't know it existed here on CZcams. I wish it didn't cut off Gen's explanation of why they wouldn't play in Ohio again. He goes on to talk about what a horrible experience the band had their last time through Ohio. I was part of an interview team for their show in Cleveland at the Phantasy Nite Club, and know not only that they had an awful time getting to that gig, but that the interview was a complete disaster that included a shouting match they walked out of, then returned for more. I was aghast at how one member of the team went out of his way to provoke and antagonize Gen, and I was glad to get a chance to talk with him afterwards and apologize. Gen was incredibly kind and gracious to me in that moment, and I've never forgotten it.
I was 14
It's pretty wild how grounded Frank's kids were. Frank never let celebrity even register. By chance I saw Dweezil decades later on Celebrity Wife Swap, and it was nuts: he and his wife were so normal and down to earth, living in a small house snd charitable in such a hands-on way, while the other family was your typical wildly excessive celeb family. Credit to Frank and to Dweezil. Here's that episode (not free, sadly): czcams.com/video/OrlE4KXDL90/video.htmlsi=1qkYl7bWIJooOWci
I've just come across this lovely interview of Frank with young Moon and Dweezil. Really enjoyed it. He's so deeply missed. But, I'm also very grateful to whoever edited the video for having kept the life insurance advert. Brilliant.
I have never lost my interest in Wall of Voodoo after hearing Mexican Radio while watching on MTV. Then the song Don't Box Me In which helped to highlight the Frances Ford Coppola 'art film for teenagers' Rumble Fish. The movie and song must have come out after this show. (Don't Box Me In not on playlist). Almost hard to believe this was 41 years ago! Yep I was just 15 when I first heard Stan Ridgeway/Wall of Voodoo. It still has a unique sound. Hints of Prince and the Revolution; and The Velvet Underground come to mind. Honestly this is the most I have listened to this band on one sitting. Great video. Feel like I've been treated to a rare great find 😎
Maybe 2 people in the audience understand what they are seeing. That's OK i didn't quiite either, my first go around. There were a whole lot more.
The Bill Grundy Show PT. 2
Valley Girl song
Marc Moreland deserves the same kind of kudos that Billy Zoom gets
Cracks me up they are playing these weird songs for hundreds of thousands of people
That show must have seemed surreal to them
They got me into the show in Vegas when i was 16 cause the bouncer wouldnt let me in and i found them in the parking lot talking to each other by a car, i told them the bouncer wouldnt let me in cause i was too young, they said hold up, finished talking, then escorted me with them through the back entrance, stage entrance? to watch the show. Fishbone you rock!
Zappa, a class act and a truly unique creative.
I wonder how old the baby is now?
I was at this taping. It was down at Gower Studios in Hollywood. Other bands that performed were The Go-Gos and X. Great time to be alive!
This performance took place at the second US Festival, held at Glen Helen Regional Park in the Devore neighborhood of San Bernardino, southern California, USA. There were 670,000 people in the crowd.
Wait-is the girl in the shades photographer Mary Rat? She looks vaguely familiar.
Mark Moreland was the real genius in Wall of Voodoo.
❤
Zappa very wise probably killed like bob marley for alternative non religious statements sad really any killing on behalf of religion is wrong god is a killer?
Here I am in Mexico 41 years later, listening to Mexican Radio
ive been looking for this movie to finally watch. i like philopino flicks but this one did nothing for me. just too over the top being pointless. thanks for the chance of finally seeing it but really just not my thing.
I liked cow punk, tho
are they sweJ?
That baby at the start is 41 years old this year 😮
No way Secondo is a Wall of Voodoo fan😱
Chris was the baddest ass key player ever.
See the people walking down the street Fall in line just watching all their feet They don't know where they want to go But they're walking in time They got the beat They got the beat They got the beat Yeah, they got the beat All the kids just getting out of school They can't wait to hang out and be cool Hang around 'til quarter after twelve That's when they fall in line
26:11
What's the name of the group with the pedal steel?
And rockabilly??? Is there a genre they didn't use ? Incredible 😊
Woz of Voodoo
That Jo Marshall song about the records was great! Thanks for this.
Sad about Chris ..Reason i took up playing synths ..Still have OScar. 👍😎👍
Never saw this, and here i thought captain kangaroo and casey jones were trips to watch.
Rest In Peace, Chris. Lost you much too soon. Billy Currie is outstanding! Our band had the honor of opening one of their shows on the Vienna tour.
There is one show I still remember joy junction in the 1980s the girl that was singing every week I think her name was Sarah she was pretty I was probably 14or 15 at that time when that was on television.
sounds as good as the song's title reads.
Ugh love this freakazoid
for educational purposes only hahaha... sounds like the beginning of Decline of the Western Civilisation as various bands read the release form and for other purposes... or in Lee Vings case porpoises.... thanks for posting this ....
Thanks for the posting, awesome to see them LIVE if only on video
I saw them close to this time in Tucson. Love this band.
It begs the question, they were so good! ❤🙏🎸😎🎺😎🥁😎🎤💕😉👍
Captain Hook was isolated, Like Peter Gunn.
still one of the most interesting bands ever like Oingo Bongo or Nina Hagen they are all so...
After being a fan as a kid I was so excited when this happened and remember thinking “Wow doesn’t Steve look old…!” Now looking at it as a 51 year old myself he doesn’t look so old..! It was a great year 1996 and that weekend in London the end of June…… Madness, Pistols & the Euros all going on. The Tories only a year away from being ousted…! Britpop…… the UK was buzzing……… 28 years later…….where did it all go wrong…!
It went wrong because of tories being greedy liars
@@prpwnage9296….. that and as we get older we discover most of our Heroes have feet of clay and are happy just to ‘feather their nest’……. At least the Pistols were up front and honest about that. They did call the tour ‘Filthy Lucre’ after all
Jep! :D T&M 💗
Brilliant band so glad i saw them in London Festival wouldnt of been same but they were Amazing live & originators of Psychobilly whatever Feneche might say Nigel Lewis admited the Meteors wete fans & copied the Cramps
They were the greatest band of all time the early eighties they brought r&b and punk gateway the old rockabilly
To a bemused little kid growing up in Los Angeles,X,Adolescents,China White,The Bags,et al were charismatic as hell.It hasn't changed, really.
Back in the 80's, Stan and company were always full of crap homophobic comments whenever they visited San Francisco for shows.. I hope that these guys wouldn't indulge in such stupid-shit activities like that today.
This is amazing--thanks for sharing this! I can't believe how great they sounded live, and that, shortly after this set, Stan decided to walk away from WOV due to how crazy their success started to make them. Stan is the only harmonica player I've ever enjoyed listening to. The guy's a genius.
