You can also get the insulating larva spike trinket for sizzle protection, you can preemptively take a bandage as well especially if you've worked on your healing stats. Also if you have a friend playing with you he can load up on healbasa from outside the danger zone and just keep throwing them at you.

I personally like doing max mutation then a fairly even spread because none of the others will make or break your game but some hunger/thirst drain might make it easier (especially early on) and some healing improvements mean less bandages which before the easier to make ones is really helpful
