This channel was started to show some of our family fishing trips, as well as some how-to videos on boat repairs. It has since kind of taken on a life of its own. Instead of having another channel to post oilfield related content, I just put it all together. I do post them in different playlists.
I would like it if you (audience) would let me know which content you prefer. Would it be better to create a 2nd channel, or just leave it how it is now? I'm all for interacting with everyone. I will never post any videos of my children that may be considered inappropriate in any way. If you ask me to do that you will be banned from channel. If you try to bring your drama to one of the comment sections, you will be banned from channel. This is just for fun, and BS will not be tolerated. We look forward to interacting with each and every one of you. Thank you all for the support and for following us on this journey.
Sincerely,
The Freshwater Fiends

I'm looking into sharing links for products but all 3 can be found on Amazon. Thanks for watching.

This was an old well that was beside one we were working on that or of no where decided to show itself. It was unmanned and a saltwater well. So for all the environmentalist out there, that's mud in the beginning NOT oil. All the proper authorities were notified, but by the time they arrived the well had sanded up, plugging itself. It was written up as a non event. Not going to name any operato...
Workover vs Drilling. What's with all the hate?
zhlédnutí 6KPřed rokem
As a service hand I go to both Drilling rigs, as well as workover. Land / Offshore doesn't matter. The one thing I always hear is that one side is better than the other. One side works harder than the other. Drilling hands say "lets see them do that on triple with 5-1/2" drill pipe". Workover says "lets see them trip 20,000' of pipe before noon". Thing is both of them are making an honest livin...

So, after seeing this video and fixing my transducer following these instructions my pontoon now reads at full speed. I have a Lowrance Hook5. I will mention your transducer should be mounted on the driver's side of the pontoon. Problem cured. Thank you
I just bought a Helix 7 to attach to my pontoon boat. My pontoon sits in a boat lift and the cradle that the logs rests on sticks out about a foot behind the logs. A transducer can only mount flush with my logs, not hang down below or the transducer hits the bunk when I drive back on. I haven't installed it yet, Will it work flush along the bottom of my toon?
Just clean the carb like a grown up…
Launch looks familiar.
Like your video. I bought a new 90 hp 02 mercury 2 stroke still runs great. I had gray fuel lines on it and they came apart inside an found the way to the carbs. I took them apart and cleaned them. Runs great. I have a 16’ Lowe bass boat but I catfish only It will run about 40 mph. I have about 250 hours on the motor. I run a 12 3/4 - 21 aluminum prop. Take Care and God Bless from Hartford Ky
Sea foam is in every tank of my gas good insurance
Thanks, man! Funny, I have the exact same year and color, too! Yep, sliding door peeps randomly. Usually, when I'm going up hills.
Thanks brother I'm troubke shooting my 65 🐴 mercury even if it doesn't work appreciate u posting this I'm in the same boat when it c comes to doing it myself u have a new subscriber good luck and God bless (Rockwood Michigan)
Seafoam is an amazing product I use it to stabilize my fuel.
Never use carb or brake cleaner to start a 2t. You're washing the cylinder walls down and greatly decreasing the life of rings an bearings. Get yourself a good quality spray bottle and use premix to squirt into the carbs.
Very helpful, Thanks!
Where u were spraying the carb cleaner, what’s that location, looked to be where spark plugs are located, but normally on other side? Great video!
Good job
Wow, dry water pump= no more water pump paddles=replace water pump because you didn't hook up any water to it.
Just now saw your video....outstanding logic there Mate....just bought a Nissan 9.9hp 2 stroke that hasn't been run for over 6 years and I'm gonna add a can of seaform in the first tank of gas and see what the water looks like coming out after she starts up. I pulled the carb and cleaned it, new fuel pump, Impeller, and spark plugs....Hope mine goes as good as yours....and thank you for the time to make the video....
Thank you!
Beautiful.. As a lover of and once a chaser of 🌪️, this is beautiful. Yes, I understand the difference yet they're one in the same to me.
You are the man! Had to push mine in and out a couple of times. About to order 2 replacements. Thank you!
Gray line is for ethanol
Gray line may be for "above deck" use. There's black line made for "below deck." However, I don't know for certain that all manufacturers follow that scheme.
Hey bud just a follow up from canada here. So I took out the 14ft fishing boat with a 25hp older 1986 mercury 2 stroke outboard . I fiddled with the screws and choke stuff ect before going on the trip and got to get it to start pretty good as I had previosly installed electric a starter ect ( cant pull on the cord to much anymore AGE you know what I mean )anyway up on the lake same kind of thing again, had to keep cranking with the starter to get it to fire up, when it did and got warmed up ,it ran like a bird, following day same thing lots of cranking then ran like a bird, its a 1986 but looks brand new Ive had it for 30yrs but hardly used it , now retired I use it more often, there cant be too much wrong with it as I mentioned it looks brand new, so I plan to try your method of cleaning with the gum out and sea foam hope it helps thanks for your time to share the info
Thanks for the tips might do this to my new boat purchase
Great Tip Thanks, I am installing a new Garmin Ultra 106sv for the first time and this helps a bunch!!
Work over our so-called pulling units are five times faster than 99% of your drilling rigs
Thanks
Run some quicksilver quickleen in the gas its amazing stuff!
How do you hot soap the outboard motor?
This is wishful thinking that this magic repair will fix problem - when you run this at speed + load there is a good chance motor will lean out + poss seize as any restriction in carbs (jets / fuel circuits etc can have varnish build up) may not supply fuel requirements. I would be afraid to run like this - do it the right way + remove carbs / fuel pump clean + blow out everything! Power heads or rebuilds are not cheap!
Thanks for sharing. I'm installing a hook triple transducer on my pontoon. Great video.

I used to make my own , but since you can buy 100 for less than $5 , I just buy .
I think that if your gear counting coil messes up timing that the motor will be rev limited to save itself? Otherwise, is it possible that the oil level switch is stuck/bad? I have a new-to-me 1990 140 Suzuki and would love to hear more. I'll check the manual to see what logic is used on those trouble gauges and maybe it will help.
For your hot soak dud you use 1 can of sea foam to a gal of gas? Did you leave your oil mix at 50:1? I have twin Johnson 175's that don't like to idle all the time. Have rebuild all 6 carbs on one of the engines it helped but didn't completely cure it. I'm wondering if the Reed valves might be gummed up too. Boat set for about a year before I got it.
Any idiot that tries to compare one to the other doesn't understand the difference between apples and oranges. Edit: That dude in the rod basket is a stud.
You’re a legend! I have a 50hp Merc that’s giving me very similar issues. I bought the boat off an old guy who did a lot of trout fishing and I suspect he did a lot of slow speed trolling, so I’m hoping the motor is just carboned up. I just ordered a can of that seafoam to give it a try. (It’s hard to get here in Australia). Wish me luck!
How’d ya go mate ?
@@frankfallujah4113 well, turns out I have zero compression in the bottom cylinder :( I think the lower crankcase seal failed and let moisture into the cylinder. I suspect it leaned out and failed. I actually picked up another engine the same that had a siezed gearbox, so I’m in the process of swapping the power heads over. I will be replacing the lower seal before I put it back together 😂
Yamaha ring free is great stuff for that
Hey just wondering what size motor that is? Just bought a bass boat with a 85hp Suzuki , got crank but won’t fire have spark and compression next is the fuel to check any other ideas thanks
Did the same thing on my force120 and it solved my issues. Thanks!
Looks cold out.
Great video, I have a 1990 115 mercury, unlike yours in this video, mine was running just find and went out a couple of weeks ago and it turned over but wouldn't start was out the weekend before do you have any suggestions?
What was actually the problem ?
You hit on the spot . Mine wont start , been sitting.
Thank you for helping me out cool beans
Need to do the same to mine. Compression good , spark excellent, fuel no good.I cleaned out the fuel tank and added new premixed fuel , cleaned out the carbs and checked out the fuel pump. She now runs good, with no issues.
I used these with the Team Catfish weight slides to make a czcams.com/users/postUgkxdmsDj7fQXe77DC0l7P7ua8B3PiESUubM Carolina rig and they were perfect for the ponds I fish. I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.
Check compression on all cylinders
Greetings from San Antonio. Texas
Thank you for this! We just bought a pontoon boat, I’ve put v-hulls on trailers before but man I was struggling with the pontoon! The first 3 times I was waist deep in the water trying to wrestle the boat over the trailer because I kept putting it too far in the water. After watching this, my wife who’s NEVER pulled a boat onto a trailer in her life was able to get it on the first try while I stayed dry! Thank you!
We’ll, that’s embarrassing!
I think you got it. Sounds good to me
Back in the day a workover rig worked exclusively on gas wells , you could tell because they didn't have a rod basket . service rigs mostly serviced oil wells so they of course had rod baskets but could work on gas wells too . This side of the industry has always been more labor intensive and dirtier to . Not to say tripping drill pipe was an easy thing to do . But on the service side all you do is trip , you may lay down a production string and pick up a workover string than in an out than lay it down and put the production string back in . With some company men who didn't like their pipe being dragged in . There was no such a thing as a pipe lift like they got now and that shit would work you to death . So yes the drilling side is bigger badder and way more glamorous and usually pays better to and you can get hurt real bad on both of them or killed deader than hell , with your best bet being to just stay the hell out of that Goddamn oilfield .
