Handmade Indoor Wooden Dog Crate
Hi Guys, After a long absence from CZcams this video is a bit of a departure from the norm for me.
we recently got a new family member "Billy the Bocker Dog" and he needed a new den where he can store his toys and chill out when he wants.
with limited space we wanted something that could doble up as a TV unit and fit in with our cottage style living room.
after searching the internet for ages, I found Starskys Hutches and Garden Arches on Etsy and Ebay.
I dropped Mark an email requesting a price and he text me back really quickly even though he was out on deliveries. he told me the price (based on size) which was much cheaper than most that I had found on the internet from other suppliers and payment changed hands.
All the way through he kept in touch and double checked the details and before i knew it he was sending pictures via WhatsApp and arranging delivery.
The den/crate is handmade by Mark and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
As always everything is bought and paid for by me.
Stay safe
Pete

I do not notice any substantial increase in noise over my "traditional" full face helmet, but i always wear earplugs and have music playing on my fodsports headset. As for buffeting the only real difference i notice is when doing a lifesaver look over my shoulder at motorway speeds. I will say that my bike has a high front screen with additional difuser/spoiler also i have a neck like an elephants leg so i never find buffeting much of an issue 😃 Ride safe Pete

I had to go up two sizes larger than any helmet I've owned. Using an xxxl, the cheek pads were still way too tight. It was unbearable. I took the foam out and sliced those pads in half. Fits perfect. The sun shade mechanism failed very quickly and it was only used a few times. There are A LOT of complaints about this and they haven't made any effort to address the issue that I am aware of. LS2 refused to honor the warranty but Amazon took it back less a restocking fee of $90. Once I started using it, I didn't want to not have it. Great option to using the full visor. Not thrilled with the chin strap lock. Nolan's is better. I used hi temp chimney silicon to mount my lexin com base on the helmet. Nothing else I tried worked. I added electrical tape on the bottom 30% of the clear visor for better sun management. All that being said, I love this helmet, .

Hi Wayne, thanks for your comment. I found mine to be ok and i had no problems with it. I cannot speak about the warranty as i never needed to try to make any kind of claim. My only complaint is the length of the chinstrap, I would like it a bit longer for ease of doing up but after a bit of advice from my local bike shop (Dobles in Coulsdon UK) i found if i pulled the helmet forward slightly the strap was long enough (but still a bit fiddly) I prefer the microclip fastners to the double d shackle as well. LS2 UK were easy enough to get hold of when I had a question and the chap was nice and helpful so maybe customer services in different countries have different standards or maybe i was lucky. I used the 3m tape that came with the Fodsports comunication device and it held up through rain and shine no problems. Ride safe Pete

You might want to reconsider putting the tv on top of the crate. The dog will hate being in the crate while you’re watching tv (loud noise and sensitive ears). You want the dog to be able to go curl up in his bed and feel safe whenever he wants, day or night.

    • @bigladbiking
      @bigladbiking Před rokem

Hi Julie, thanks for watching and getting in touch. Billy is not going to be crate traied i the strict sense of the term and he is quite happy popping in and out of his den geting his toys, relaxing and we play scent games around the lounge through out the day including hiding treats in his den. The door is not closed whilst we are in the room and Billy spends more time curled up with us on the couch than anywhere else in the house. If he showed any signs that the TV was bothering him then we would obviously reconsider the location, but as we do not have the tv that loud he is quite happy. It is a good point though, and each owner should consider the temperment of their dogs before putting their tv on the crate. The TV is placed on top of a section of 5mm neoprene the dampen direct vibration from the speakers to the crate. cheers Pete

HI Adam, thanks for getting in touch. you might be interested in my "how to remove the peak video). My helmet is the XXL (I have a big head). it is really comfortable for my head (long oval) but is is snug on my cheeks, I like my helmets like this as they feel more secure to me. I have had the following helmets at various points: Held Brave (you can see this on my FODSports video), Arrioh (long time ago can't remember which model), Just1 J14 adventure (see the video on my channel) and I tried the Bell adventure helmet which had almost no padding around the cheeks and I really did not like it. I have not tried any of the premium (expensive brands) as my budget does not stretch that far. I hope this helps I will be doing a long term review soon as I have managed to rack up about 5k miles in it so far. ride safe Pete

  • @dimitriskatsoulis4986

Hey, great review! Super important question: you mentioned the street version by taking off the peak. Is this doable? The site of LS2 does not advertise that capability and I have seen EVERY video in youtube for the helmet and not one shows the helmet in street mode. I read a comment that taking off the peak would mean that the visor is off as well as they are using the same screw!!! Can you please answer if the helmet can become street oriented by taking off only the peak, cause that's the only thing holding me back from purchasing it?!

The only downside for me is I would like a longer chin strap as I have a very thick neck and at is longest adjustment it sits a bit too snug on my neck.
