Koi Pond Removal: Mini Skid Front Hoe To The Rescue!
In this video, I am dismantling a koi pond for a customer using my Vermeer 925 with mini skid steer front hoe attachment. The front hoe is made by Lofflin Fabrication purchased from Express Steel.
This job required removal of the pond liner, plumbing and back filling with soil. The customer wanted to keep the boulders and create a backyard rock garden. She left the design up to me! I don't typically design landscaping and wasn't really sure what to do with this many boulders! But as you will see in the video I lay them out in a half circle pattern. The customer was very pleased with the end result which made the job that much more satisfactory!

My customer today needed his entire back fence line cleared. There is a chain link fence buried within the vegetation. I went through and cut fence first before I started folding up the vines. This was interesting because I was working right next to a golf course and the 14th green was directly on other side of fence. I worked quick and got out of there fast!

With home depot plastic window well you can raise soil higher around perimeter and basement window. Don't screw in window well, just compact soil around, inside lay fabric and put one bag of cheapest stone from home depot.

I had a tree service for about 30 years and it was always funny when I watched the news and it said showers in the morning for a couple hours and then it will pass over. My guys was supposed to be here at 7 and u could bet on who will be the first then second to call and ask are we working today and I would ask if their banker cares if it’s racing or will he just excuse their payments this month

Watching you work the mini skid steer, I couldn’t help but think this job really would have been easier with a true mini excavator. That attachment although useful at times, isn’t a substitute for the real thing. Have you ever considered getting a mini excavator?
It would have never got back there! Or at least without taking out fencing, etc! That was part of the reason I showed the pathway there because it was so narrow. I have thought about it but have never ran one or had a huge need for it. Easier, possibly. But by the time I got the mini ex back there I would have been halfway done with the mini skid steer!
@@SchottServices the smaller mini excavators have retractable tracks that can move in and out so the width of the entire machine can be as narrow as 29” to 42” depending on the machine brand and model. I’ve seen video of them driving through a house door.
@NFAtoys yes those would be nice. I do like the excavators with rotating buckets and pincher on backside. Those look pretty handy!
@@SchottServices yes, those are really nice. But that type of attachment can’t usually be found on the sub 2 ton micro and mini excavators. The rotor attachment itself weighs so much it would degrade the lift capability of the mini excavator to the point of diminished returns. You have to move up to the 3 ton range of machines before those types of attachments are practical.

Your kinda special Im 71 this week and had Vermeer 665 Grinders and with 44 inch wheels and your little toy machine cut as well as my 65 HP POS pS my vermkeer weighed 6,200 LBs as well and needed 7 foot opening without the Truck to get into the yards that I destroyed from 4 wheel drive and 665 This just blew me away
