Why I hate the Remington 870 #pumpgun #shotgun #hunting #guns #hunter #remington

Today I describe to you why I hate the 870 so much. Even though it works and has been around for many many years, is unfailing, will always be the last shotgun to fail, will always be the last one in the duck blind to go boom, will always be the last one in the turkey blind to go boom, and will be the gun that you can drag behind a truck and still go boom. I hate it. www.gungrove.com www.btacar...

Shooting The Ruger Super Redhawk .22 Hornet No recoil! #boomstick #guns #revolver

Short video showing the complete lack of recoil in the new Ruger super Redhawk 22 hornet. The gun shoots like a dream and while I’m working up loads I am very hopeful that this will be a 1/2” pistol at 50 yards. As you can see, I have put a 2.75 X Burris scout scope on the pistol as this seemed to give me the best mix of eye relief that I was looking for for a varmint gun. I have high hopes and...

what rifles are you using this with? I have a very old Rossi 62 that shoots 22LR and I'd love to get a modern center fire 22. Any recs are greatly appreciated.
I have a model 43 Winchester and a Ruger 77/22 both in .22 hornet. Plus the Ruger super redhawk. I’d look hard at the savage model 25 varmint rifles. They are moderately priced and give fantastic accuracy. Then you’ll step up to the rugers for $1k. You could also try and find a CZ 527. They are absolute dandy rifles.
@@thelockstockandbarrelpodca6595 thank you for the quick reply! Much appreciated! I'll take a look at them!
Direct and to the point. First time I've been on your site. It will not be the last. I liked this review.
"Getting back to basics... I think too often the break is two fold. Those with money, those that don't have as much and how those that always have the new things (usually because they are given it by the companies) and the push is always "the new thing" makes people not embrace across the board. Hell... my daughter the other day was with my wife... and they were looking at FB for some reason, and an EVA Shockey post popped up and my daughter asked about her (she's 8) and my wife said she doesn't care to see her always with the newest gear getting an animal because she was either handed it by vendors, or such... and I understood where my wife was coming from. On the other hand I shot 3-D for years... and it's similar there... the fun aspect has been destroyed... the IBO has always been serious... but I'm sorry... I'd love to see the open guys shoot the same course with a true basic hunting set up... maybe they wouldn't be separating by just a couple x's. When the R100 by rinehart got started there were NO SCORES captured. Focus was about the fun... and shooting whatever yardage you wanted to. Now the R100 is scored and the focus is on a score again. The Total Archery Challenge alienates your average blue collar guy that doesn't do crazy back pack hunting. Then take a look at yall... talking about having multiple new bows every year... and setting them up for so many different scenarios... Archery in my opinion used to be a blue collar thing... something that was easier for everyone to do as a full sport. Not sporting clays or trap or so on... but something that just about anyone could afford to get into . I love made in the USA gear... you can't touch some hunting sights for under $200... a damn sight. I think bringing things back to blue collar... to fun...have the competitions... but the damn elitism that has come to archery has truly torn it apart" - From a video on another channel about the subject.
I love this. Especially the archery aspect. I haven’t bought a bow in 10 years and my diamond ice man is still as serviceable and shootable as ever. Same as my recurves. They all flat work. I’m too often caught by the gear bug and need to have a chat with myself to slow down and be conscientious of what type of example I’m leaving for my kids and those around me. I too shot IBO very competitively in the 90’s and it was brutally fun. I look at used bows at Scheels and often threaten to upgrade. I just can’t. $1k for a bow is nonsense. The accessories are out of this world like you said. My son is a great example at 14. He has the buy once cry once mentality from me. BUT he stays content. A virtue.
I feel very strongly... about a lot of things... and I am usually very vocal and opinionated. I stumbled on an elk shape podcast from 7 months ago that turned me on to this whole debate. I think we are losing site of the basics. It's become all about the gear... getting the latest and greatest. Pricing out average people. Companies sponsoring people like it's going out of style. Whether it's in the hunting side of the world or competition. What ever happened to doing this for the fun and enjoyment and as a source of food. Now it's all about the trophy and gear...don't get me wrong I love gear... I am a knife nerd. But damn. There are not a lot of good places to hunt securely...People like to have a tree-stand up have a nice piece of land that they can hunt... maybe have a camper or something on it. The East is a lot different than the west when it comes to hunting areas. I'll also post my rant from the ElkShape video.. This schism in the hunting community isn't going to be good for anyone.
This conversation has turned to a back to basics chat and I love it. Will be talking about that soon. My number one grind with Matt and his podium is that he blatantly speaks out to people who lease ground to hunt and treats them like trash. I’m not trash. I’m a good person with good values and my kids are no different. I’m taking his ground in Montana. I’m taking 150 acres in the Midwest to use and cherish. When I can afford it. Which isn’t every year. I think if he shifted his focus to just hunting “celebrity” and away from all who aren’t like him. He’d gain some real ground.
@@thelockstockandbarrelpodca6595 I think that's exactly right. I have hunted most of my life in NY and it's far more difficult to hunt regularly when you don't have dedicated land... because of so many different reason. But again... getting back to basics... Not to attack the company... but let's take Montana Knife Company for example... so many (including steve r.) have gone to them... there are no blue collar hunters going out there and buying these knives... I mean $200 for a skeletonized and wrapped blade? you have the paid and heavily supported hunters going and making videos with brand new equipment every year tends to alienate many people. So much of this is getting absolutely crazy... a few need to stand up and put some of the industry in check... that's just a fact.
Looking at these boots.I have cold feet.I wear 10.5 EE wide in leather boots .From your review it sounds like i wont have trouble with them being wide enough.Correct? They dont come in a EE or wide width. That worrys me.Thanks.Good review.

That mountain do me sticker is bad ass. Also great and informative video, thank you.

Absolutely beautiful! Thats a gem, not sure how rest of the lot looked but this is a great pickup!!
What a beautiful revolver. S&w really does these big beauties right. Love all their revolvers. These look like awesome shooters 🇺🇸👍👍
Seen prices go down around here. It ebbs and flows but trending up for sure. Gotta look for deals
What is the reason for the FMJ being illegal to hunt with in some states?
There’s a few reasons that are given in different states i.e. Non expanding bullets don’t have the lethality, higher chance of ricochet, over penetration and danger to unintended targets
@@thelockstockandbarrelpodca6595 Okay, thank you. I appreciate the response. As you can tell by the question I’m not a hunter but would like to be informed before I started sending led down range willy nilly. Thanks for the info and the video.
You're camera should be position in landscape mode. Which is lengthwise parallel to the table not portrait. All I see is a narrow video that doesn't help the viewer.
The 351c trigger is so tough to pull it’s discouraging to take to the range. I’m wondering if the 43c is any better?
It gets better with use. If you didn't clean it before range trip, I'd recommend a deep cleaning with a CLP then follow up with ballistol or preferred lube. It comes with protective coating that makes it run crappy til cleaned but even then its heavy to get ignition in 22s, but it breaks in a few lbs less over first 1k dry fire/live fires.
You have GDS(Glock derangement syndrome).
I'm sorry about your dad's passing. My father is still alive, 91 years old. Like your father, my dad was never a gun guy. I have so many. I wish I could share my collection and enthusiasm with dad, but I don't. Love your Highway Patrolman! I have a 28-2 six inch barrel. Thanks for sharing yours!
Mix it up a bit. We could look at other things. 😂
Disagree..... The goal is conservation....period. More license sales=more funding for conservation. Not sure how this is even a rational idea
Is the xs sights tritium
Not standard, but it can be swapped out, the pin below the sight is removed then new xs options can pop in and repin
I wonder if any can shoot a 3 inch shell on first shot and extract it afterwards..you can on the AR 410's
I had the Ruger LCR didn’t care for the trigger so I sold it and purchased a Ruger SR22 just for the kids to practice. Anyway I regret selling it but now I’m looking at the S&W 43c because I like to carry a 22LR just to run to the store but I don’t want to carry any semiautomatic 22LR because I don’t trust them because there is a good chance of it jamming.
I absolutely LOVE my 43c. So nice i bought it twice. Wife shoots it well too, i hike 10-15 miles multiple days a week and having 8 shots on me in a 12oz package that is easy to hide. Draw and shoot well. No brainer. Its fit finish and trigger are leaps and bounds above the lcr. Shooting side by side the lcr rattles like crazy if rocked side to side. Smith & wesson is like a swiss watch. The extra few hundred is more then worth it imo, i'd pay double the price of lcr for 43c if needed knowing what I know now 👍
Barnes makes a 70gr as well.
Texas doesn't even ban fmj for deer, they just don't suggest it.
Im 33, and i snatched an hr ss 22 hornet up at the pawn shop for 200 bucks, and i reload for it!!!! Most folks my age have no idea what it is or even heard of it, even the so called gun guys!!!
Get some ammo has these I just saw them.
I totally agree with Matt’s view point. Take a look around and see the effects it’s had on access. People post their spots and when non ethical hunters find out, they really hammer the areas which everyone floods too. Absolutely bad what’s going on and the bad thing is, the hunting community thinks it’s helping hunting in general. Draw odds are way down and what used to be fun is losing its reasoning why we do it because it’s “the cool” thing to do. Money for the rich is the focus now. I have to agree with Matt on many of his opinions.
I call BS. As if there are that many non ethical hunters that flood into any random area that someone mentions. C'mon.
In this day and age, oh boy you betcha there is. We live in a me first selfish generation. Anything for the ego stroke.
I had one in 1978. I worked in a gun store in college. That's where I bought mine. A wonderful gun. I sold it a few years later to a guy that REALLY wanted one. I do miss it. Thank you very much for the back story on yours. That makes that gun even more special. So happy to hear it. The story behind it is as worthy as the gun itself. Thank you for that. :)
Found one for sale for $1,200. Not sure what I'd do with it, though. I'm not a hunter. This doesn't really seem like a home defense round. There are no JHP versions. It's meant for penetration, which means it will likely go directly through an attacker. It's definitely a cool revolver. I wish the engineers at S&W would give us a 7 shot 44 magnum. That would be a great home defense revolver.
Is HSM blue tip varmint ammo good for self defense? I’ve seen gnarly vids of those bullets exploding on target
It’s basically a ballistic tip varmint load that will have explosive performance on anything it hits. You’re not going to shoot through a car door or much of any barrier but it dang sure would do the trick! Cheers!
Just seeing an X Frame in person is a special treat! They are impressive pieces of hardware.
Modern machinery is amazing!!!
Barnes and Gold Dots will always get the job done provided that you put the bullet where it belongs. Shot placement and bullet construction that are accurate in your rifle!
VERY NICE GUN
It doesn’t come with mounting plate?
It does not. Mount plates are pistol /rifle specific. I used the sig XTen plate from Tango Down industries. It’s a very low profile plate.
I love my 43C. Easy to carry and shoots straight.
I came to this video to find out what the controversy is surrounding the Matt/Steve Rinella situation. After 6 minutes of watching I still have no idea.
I could do quick synopsis on that issue.
Omgawd... get to the point... stop pandering
You're just buying from the wrong people 😉 yea it's creeping up for sure...
Well said, side x sides , and ATV,s have also over run the landscape in most areas, Idaho has pretty good management of this during hunting Utah fair . Here in Utah if you can get away from the roads far enough you can find good animals on public lands but in the 50 plus years I have hunted it has changed draws and units have made for it hard to obtain a permit . It is still the dollars from hunters and the items they purchase that drive our rights to hunt and fish. Let’s hope we do not lose sight of that

Great info!!!
My local bass pro still has probably 20 boxes on the shelf.
My favorite gun. A true unsung hero in the ccw market. I can and have been able to afford any gun i want to carry and shoot, but the 43c is always on me. Sometimes as a back-up, but mostly a primary. If i lost it today, id buy another tomorrow. Hogue g10 grips and XS big dot tritium make it a complete package.
It’s just perfect! Cheers, bro. Glad you love it the way I do.
I feel the same, have access to what others feel are "better options" but I love the 43c. Very capable, small, light, reliable, just big enough to shoot well even out to decent ranges. Always on us, always ready 🇺🇸👍👍
You said you have never recovered your deer with the Speer loads . Dude you are not to smart
I did??? I’ve got to listen to this again! I appreciate you pointing it out. And that I’m not (too) smart. Cheers, mate.

I’m on it! Hahah!!
I hear what your saying about losing land to farmers and it sucks but I myself am an avid hunter and I farm roughly a thousand acres in Minnesota and from a farming perspective my family and my living comes first hunting is just a bonus
Related to mag height in relation to the bore and feed ramp. As some say, mod the feed lips to let rounds come up higher. In my case, it was a t3x and a B&C stock bottom metal area not deeply enough inletted for the height, rounds would hit bottom of barrel. Forget the measurement, but, between the two stocks there was a difference from bottom metal distance to bottom of bolt.
