He forgive her explaining how he forgive himself and finally made peace with god. Being Daredevil saved so many lives that was worth the pain. I don't get tired of of say: this show is a masterpiece.
Sister Maggie has to return in Daredevil : Born Again.
She probably won't since it's only nine episodes and they've already written in a good chunk of the returning cast. But they've gotta bring her back for like a second season. Thankfully, this scene wrote a good reason for her not immediately returning.
Look, I'm not a religious person. I am firmly against the concept in most forms it takes. But I will be damned if there aren't two pieces of brilliantly written media that make me understand why someone would be religious and how nuanced faith as a concept can be. And those pieces of media are Daredevil and The Prince of Egypt.
What I love about shows like this that come from comics or just books like Twilight or Divergent etc, is when we are given the live action detail of what the original author was saying. It can be so beautiful and insightful. This scene isn’t Matt forgiving but accepting that his life is what it was suppose to be. Gods plan wasn’t for him to grow up with his parents, because he wouldn’t have become the hero he was truly meant to be.
As a spiritual, but non-religious person, the scenes with Sister Maggie and Father Lantom are my favorite in the series. Both characters act as pivotal mentors to Matt. Of all media out there today, I think this show and Frank Miller’s work in the 80’s perfectly portrays and deconstructs Catholicism in a tasteful way, a human way.
“I’m a nun Matthew, I want NUN to do with you”
The nuance of his expressions... Charlie should have gotten an emmy noone can change my mind lol
Joanne Whalley!!!!!
I didn’t understand why Maggie never came to Matt and tell him she was his mother he atleast deserved that
She was struggling with her guilt and thought he would be better off not knowing her as the woman who abandoned him. She put herself above his needs, and felt a twinge of regret for it, but after a while she felt it was too late and kept up the charade.
Good theology.
We have a saying in Arabic that if you knew the unknown of what may or could happen to you, you would still choose your current reality. Things may suck for a moment or one can be sad if something didn't happen but at the ende things went exactly how they were supposed to be for our own good. I'm a Muslim and I love this scene here for his View of life. This whole show and especially this season was a masterpiece ❤️
That's a very beautiful and brilliant saying. ❤️🛐
This show is such a wonderful representation of Christianity and Catholicism. I would argue it does a better job at showing what it means to be a Christian than most churches do, and as a Christian I have been to quite a few. Phenomenal writing. I will be quite disappointed if they dial the catholic aspect back for the Disney plus revival
This is my main concern too. Yes, the fighting is great, the characters are great, and the story is great. But if they don’t have the great writing/religion aspect in it, it just won’t be the same. We need the faith side of Matt.
GOD IS FAKE TRANS RIGHTS ARE HUMAN RIGHTS
It’s so wholesome seeing comments hoping for Daredevil to return, now in 2022
i can never understand this submissive sadistic manipulative religion
As a Catholic myself, this show really touches my heart because I can relate to Matt on a whole other level
I know they are not meant to... But if they had hugged at the end of this scene, I would have started crying
"Helping is what I was called to do"... unless it's yo' son
Even though they have made it clear that they will give Daredevil a "soft reboot", and have Born Again act as more of a "Season 1" rather than a "Season 4". I would love to see Maggie and her actress reprise her role, and continue this development where Matt and Maggie can have that mother and son relationship that they never had.
Glad to see Matt Happy in She-Hulk. Also digging the Yellow Suit.
I love the way she plays it. She'll never beg Matt to forgive him but you can clearly see she wants to
Daredevil ain't a devil he is an angel in disguise of the devil trying to fight crime in the rightous way possible to serve justice.
The honesty. That's it.
3:37 I suppose that's the closest that these two will come at this point to acknowledge each other as mother and son. Maggie is willing to be a counselor for Matt, but I don't think that's her way of saying she is ready to acknowledge that she is his mother emotionally. And as for Matt, I think he recognizes this and doesn't want to push and yet needs this connection. Wants to build a gradually and get over the resentment and anger that he may still feel towards both Maggie and Father Lantom for keeping this from him. They both did, after all, save his life after the building collapsed on him, and helped him recover. The emotional trauma, however, will take a lot longer than that. But I think this is a promising start.
"Helping" he got it from his mom..
He's backkkk
I've been going through an emotional hardship in my life for about 2 years now. To some people it may seem very small but to me it's everything. And ever since this hardship in my life began, it's caused me to get more in touch with my faith and spiritual side. I still get doubts and get discouraged from time to time but I always keep the faith, believing that God has brought me out of past hardships before when I wasn't sure if it would end. My point to this is, hearing Matt explain God's plan in this way really helps out with my faith and gives me more hope about the outcome of the situation I've been in
🫂❤️
... as god does 👍
Seeing Matt's faith restored was so inspiring and heartfelt. This man deserves all the happiness in the world. <3
0:41 "If God allowed that, there would be no future. Just people endlessly rewriting the past." Professor Hulk: TIME TRAVEL!
MCU cringe has arrived, I see
#SaveDaredevil
Very nice!
This is probably my favourite scene from the entire series. That moment at 3:36, where Matt looks up and takes that deep sigh, I appreciate that detail so much. After that one breath, it's as if he's finally at peace, after being in such a spiritual battle the whole season. Plus, he's struggled for so long in letting people in and asking for help and when he finally does ask Maggie, although he probably found it difficult, he feels relieved and no longer alone.
I’m catholic and I can relate to this because I am also “autistic” <-not really important to what I’m an out to say, so sometimes I feel that life sucks and I feel now god made it that way so people could make it good and filled with happiness
This show is the best IN SO MANY ASPECTS!!
Please give this man Oscar😭😭
Emmy
Matt: Well…better pony up that child support😂😂
Little did Matt know that God was simply painting Dickbutt for the very first time. Life is a beautiful joke.
Beautiful
This is how religion is supposed to be portrayed for characters you respect. Matt and Kurt wagner both have this but they respected Matt and didn't kurt in media
He should start calling her "Mom" from now on
😇🙏🏻🤲🏻Ilove youfatherGodAlways😇🙏🏻🤲🏻🐺.
She is weirdly hot and cute. Why...lol
I dont care what nobody says what Maggie did was disgusting and unforgivable she sat there and watched as her son was blinded and as his father died and let him go through all that pain and live most of his life thinking he was alone
Tell me you missed the point of the show without telling me you missed the point of the show
The point is that no one is beyond redemption
He literally fucking said "if my life played out differently I would have never become daredevil" where you not paying attention?
Giving people second chances is literally the central point of Matt’s entire belief system
You watching the show: 😴
Beautiful little touch after "you have a generous heart, Matthew" is Maggie silently wiping away her unseen tears.
1:12
I was really hoping he would give her a big bear hug right at the end but I think the abandonment issue was still too raw. Love how he opened the door for further engagement between the two of them though. Sucks big time that there was not a season 4.
Matt started the season being angry and bitter towards God and ended it by smiling when he mentions His name and accepting that him becoming Daredevil was part of God's plan for him If the rumors are true and we are gonna see Matt again in the MCU i hope they don't neglect the Catholic aspect of the character as i find that part of the character the most compelling and as a Catholic myself i find representation in him
I also find a lot of representation in him as well. When I was born, I had microtia, which means my ear was not fully formed. I am also Christian, too. This show has even helped me find guidance with my own disability with God. I couldn't be more grateful for such an amazing masterpiece.
@@dcski1352 thank you for sharing your story with me! I'm grateful this masterpiece of a show has helped you in your faith as it has helped me!
@@dcski1352 So do I, Esteban. I thought the show did an excellent job of respecting the Catholic part of Matt Murdock / Daredevil’s character, *and* not overdoing it for those who do not believe. The balance struck was close to perfect.
He'd make a good pair with Cap, seeing he's the only one who still have faith despite actually meeting and befriending a "god". LoL
@@tjongdavid1921 steve rogers and matt murdock are actually my top two favorite marvel characters so im sad that we never got to see them imteract but hopefully now we can see matt interact with other superheroes 🤞🏻
Fuck. This is what a great comic book adaptation looks like. Something that respects the character, and their history. And is able to bring it new heights by having it in a different medium. Daredevil season 3 and Gotham season 2 are my favourite live action comic things ever, and for completely different reasons. This ish is so good
I think what’s so good about how they tackled religion in this season is how it’s not portrayed as just good or evil. We’re human and because of that it’s complex. Someone like Matt who was religious for two whole seasons begins to struggle with religion and his beliefs and even at the end he knows that religion isn’t perfect.
That's literally the best line to give...when someone's still getting triggered with the whole problem of evil.
