When he said that the hardest part is getting up and getting to the starting line each time, it reminded me of a t-shirt I saw once that said "the hardest lift you do every day is your ass off the couch". And when you have to do it 32 times in a row, it must be enough to break most people. I'm a cyclist and I've done a lot of long rides, and I can assure you that the mental part of any endurance sport is where you find out what you're made of. I'm surprised that more women weren't there toward the end, as I've always found women more mentally tough then men. Must have a lot to do with the pysical demands as well.

Some people really just like brutalizing themselves.

12:02 I spent 3 months backpacking in Utah, in the desert and mountains. 3 straight months. Hiking 6 days of the week. There were so many times we were exhausted mid-hike and would take a break. But we knew not to sit down, because getting back up is the hardest part.

The hardest part is not laughing to exhaustion when grown adults scream while getting federal funding to exist 😂

"Glad to be stopped." In my mind an ultra run equals torture!!! But, I'll never know how glad it's possible to feel just to have stopped!
