His greatest masterpiece. The concert video is incredible too. The theatrical plot, the stage, the clothes,the colours, the band… The only thing that wasn’t good back then was then was the sound. Prince records sound was crappy back in the 80s. That was weird… Michael Jackson or Lionel Richie records sounded like heaven I remember and Prince ones didn’t. Thank God the remasters

It’s a great album and the box set was packed with gems. He had a great run of b-sides to accompany the singles from that era. Was Prince’s version of Do Yourself a Favor included with that set?

Love this album, however I prefer live versions of songs as performed on sign o times movie compared to album version...

They really packaged that beautifully, and I think it sounds great!

Prince was crap

I'd personally list all of Prince's '80s solos (excluding The Black Album) up to the tragically underappreciated Lovesexy, The Rainbow Children and 3121 (Prince's finest straightforward pop/craftsman record) as my top 10. Perhaps not that adventurous but I stand by it. If I went by personal preference, I'd sneak in Exodus (more or less a Prince project) and perhaps O{+> or Come. Prince never stopped making good music but album cohesion and editing post-80s is a recurring issue imo...

They should sell a Lego replica of Paisley Park, I would buy that. I also like how now they were including the filmed soundchecks with the special TV/show performance like they did with the Special Olympics in the D&P set, they should do that for more sets.

I respect this list a lot for going outside the norm and recognizing that albums like Newpower Soul are Prince albums through and through. Madhouse 8 makes my list as well!
