I confirm what you say. The main screw at the rear comes undone by itself. (Added). I put thread locker on the thread and it now stays in its place. On my 34, I found that the two front screws had been damaged at the factory. The holes had not been correctly tapped but the screws had been forced in notwithstanding. I re-tapped the holes (metric tap) and installed new screws. I measured the muzzle energy with a range of different pellets. Always around 12 joules, despite the barrel being marked "20 J". I replaced the spring and got 19.6 joules - just within the French limit of 20 joules for an unlicenced air rifle.

I have had this same issue and am having it again, the first one was put in another tank but then died. I think they both got bullied. I don't know what to do with the one that's all torn up right now, I will try to put in an isolation tank. I can see them fight aggressively

My ‘mildot master’ worked it out at just under 310 yds and just over 300 with a 7° angle. I recommend it highly.

I put 300 rounds thru my mini before the firing pin broke. Which is a fairly common failure on these rifles. Ruger did repair the rifle at no cost to me. Honestly the mini is a hard sell when Ruger & Smith & Wesson offer an AR15 for a few hundred less.

A reason loctite may not be working for you is because it is very critical to use a solvent like rubbing alcohol to clean/degrease the threads before you apply. I’ve also switched over to the loctite “stick” and find it to work great even on the magnum springers. Hope this helps someone out there.

I think these guns are more legacy and craftsmanship more than actual "practical performance" at this point....theyre just legacy prestige brands that have been left behind by modern airgun developments

I've got 5 Savage rifles and none of them are that bad with cheap factory hunting ammo.My Axis .223 will shoot at 1/4 inch with the load it likes the 7mm-08 will hit a bowling pin at 780 yards with regularity these are factory barrels with many thousands of rounds down them.

Still own this Rifle? I'm 54 and been shooting mini 14s since I was 12 years old. I have few tricks that will help this Rifle. Looks to be the old thin barrel. With that barrel you only get 3 shots before the barrel heats up and start stringing to the right. 3 shots. Then give the barrel 5 -10 minutes to cool down. Get rid of the Harris bipod and use bags to zero. You can reattach the bipod after you're zeroed. 40 gr V-max at an overall of 2.255 to 2.260.

For me, I use 168gr Sierra Matching Federal Premium 308M with my Savage. The grouping is 100% better. Also I am not a fan of any pistol grips on long guns. The Hornady A-Max 168g Match works great, but not the Black.

You have to rebuild the bottom bracket to take as single 10mm bolt straight through, grind away the little obstruction on the lever,retapthe2virtical screws to also take 10mm's,cut through side of pistonhead until center shaft and weld multi alloy rod,scope is only style on. Break barrel master your steel sights your grand will inherit

The mini 14 was the biggest disappointment ever. When I got mine I was so excited to have a cool auto loading varmint rifle but immediately after shooting it I listed it on gunbroker. My groups at 100 yards with 8 or 9 different factory loads were bigger than a basketball....
