We have the same collection and dilemma. But my sub is a no date 114060. And i have a 36mm explorer. Feeling is mutual but all is same. Hahaha i also want one watch that does it all.

Great video and commentary Chris. Thanks for sharing it! Totally agree with the POV and the thought process. You can truly live your life in any of those pieces…but it’s darn hard ever to part with a Daytona.

Funnily enough, amzwatch's replicas are perfect for people who can actually afford a luxury watch. Because in those social circles, it wouldn't matter and everybody would just assume it's real. You have a yacht and a beach house in Tuscany, of course that replica is real. There isn't a millionaire out there going around with a jeweller's loupe to scrutinize their acquaintance's watch. They'll just go "Oh is that a Patek? Nice, I should really get my hands on one of those, they look great."

Nice video Chris, and three beautiful watches! I’m an airline captain and daily a first-gen all black ceramic GMT. Absolutely never use the GMT function - it’s simple enough to do the math in my head. Love the watch though! As to the land, air, sea trope, I think you’re close. If you’re a watch person - especially a Rolex fan - all three models bring their own flavor despite their similarities. I also think you’re on the right track with wanting the best Daytona. I have the previous gen platinum with diamond markers, no brown subdial rings, and it’s stunning. I’d argue that having the best GMT and Sub is equally satisfying and brings the variation lacking in the all steel trilogy. White gold meteorite GMT and full yellow gold blue dial Sub. With that combo of land, air, sea you have not just one each primary sport model Rolex, but also full white and yellow gold examples, along with the full platinum. Each watch is different enough to hold its own. Also, the platinum Daytona has always had symmetrical lugs. I don’t think you’ll have much trouble learning to appreciate that minor detail. Cheers!

I have a 116520, 126710blro, and 124060 as my trio. I think we all have these same thoughts of just bonding with one watch for everything. I am currently building memories with my pepsi, don’t matter the occasion. Nice B roll. Your tats give the watches more character somehow.

the three you are showcasing are indeed the 3 dream watches and the perfect collection in some regards- but to me, while the watches are perfect, they are all stainless which is kind of boring. I'd prefer a two-tone and maybe even a solid yellow gold variation in the mix. For me, the Sub Bluesy would be a nice replacement to the Hulk or even a solid yellow gold Sub is a nice baller watch that gives you something far different than what you have now. It's a totally different feeling/vibe. When I was younger I didn't care for the solid gold Rolexes... now I see them in a different light, but owning one would have to be indeed in a collection of 3 or more and used on certain occasions. Also, I think part of the thrill of these watches is the thrill of the hunt/pursuit, and now that that's over it can take away some of the excitement. Best of luck with your decisions.

My friend. I think you just had a moment of clarity hahaha. As human beings, we always want what we can’t get. But now that you have it, it only have you a moment of joy. But now you’re in search for another “hard to get”. The thrill of the search! The thrill of knowing you can’t just go to an AD and buy it! The thrill of grind! That’s basically what you had until you got “the three”. This is why I laugh when ppl go to grey dealers to get a “grail”. Anyone can go grey and walk out with a watch…. But not everyone can walk inside an AD and get “the grail”. Cheers! Enjoy the watch in good health!

The new Daytona isn’t really bigger because they offset the longer lugs by reducing the size of the end link and curving it down. So the new one is shorter than the old one the wrist. But we get it, you like the old one better. So no need to hammer that point over and over. You should be able to get a jumbo now, the market for Royal oaks is collapsing. People are getting offers left and right where I live. It’s about to go back to what it was pre Covid when nobody wanted them

3 beauties…BUT as you say at the end, the trouble is they are similar (steel, reliable, waterproof, casual or dress, all great) but ultimately it’s hard not to prefer one, and in my case, the Pepsi stayed, the rest were let go…..🔵🔴

Sell them all and travel the world with one good watch. Live life now. Inevitability someone else will be enjoying your watches when your gone.

I have bought and sold many Rolex’s but currently a one watch guy on a batgirl , always longed after a panda 116 and considering do I move to that as my grail and sell the batgirl? Or add a second watch to batgirl like a hulk/ sub LV

dude, it's what we do as watch nerds. we fixate on a watch so hard until we get it, then the honeymoons over in month or two and we're thinking about our next acquisition. I too feel guilty for the last watch in, and how quickly forgotten it is.

I'm in the same predicament. I have the same 3. So what's next? Well I'm asking for a celebration dial OP, so time only watch. After that would be daydate. Then I guess I'm done with Rolex?

The AD give me the call after 10 months for the submariner Starbucks. I now want the Pepsi and then my grill watch the Pikachu. Lol. I love buying watches and bought Rolex watches for my family of six. I also have Tudors. I think I’m more of a Tudor fanboy owning four. Pelagos, BB41, BB gmt opaline and Pro. I will keep waiting for the call on Rolex because I refuse to buy them in the grey market

Oh brother, this exact same thinking has been in my mind for a couple months already. I’m glad is not just me. I was moved by the trio, and although I don’t own the Daytona YET, I don’t enjoy the Pepsi as much. I also want that one and only, the one as you said “is the most me”. I want the Daytona and that is it, but the thing holding me back is the exact feeling of getting rid of the Pepsi and the Starbucks which took me so much effort to get. Great video!

Sell the sub and gmt, keep the daytona. Go for something more exciting and different like a Patek Aquanaut, Nautilus or jumbo AP. 👌🏼

You smell the coffee now!! Ps - Do it!! BTW - a heavy platinum will give you wrist fatigue over long periods of time, the Daydate seems to be nicely balanced even over the long hall. As for the occasional dives? Grab your Seiko and save a few dollars.

Thank you for sharing your journey! I was able to complete my own Land, Air and Sea with the polar Explorer II, Batman and LV Sub. I'm having a hard time with the next watch. Skydweller on jubilee is next on wishlist but I'm strongly considering the 1908. Either way, after getting the Sub in April I'm going to enjoy it for some time before grabbing the next piece. To your point, I'm actually pretty content with where I am in this journey at the time but I'm always looking. Lol

have Sub ND, Rootbear, and Vintage Explore 2 polar 16570 which is awesome collection tbf, just need SS Daytona to round it out then am done. YOU need the Rootbeer cuz it's so unique color wise. they hit the homerun with this one.
