Tesla Cybertruck One Month Review: Is It Worth the Hype?
The Tesla Cybertruck has been one of the most anticipated vehicles in recent years, capturing the imaginations of automotive enthusiasts and technology buffs alike. With its futuristic design, groundbreaking features, and the promise of redefining what a truck can be, the Cybertruck has generated a significant amount of buzz. But after a month of ownership, how does it really hold up? Is it worth the hype? In this comprehensive review, I'll delve into the design, performance, features, and overall ownership experience of the Tesla Cybertruck.
The first thing that strikes you about the Tesla Cybertruck is its radical design. With its angular, stainless steel exoskeleton and distinctive shape, the Cybertruck looks like it has come straight out of a sci-fi movie. This design isn't just for show; the exoskeleton is made from ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel, providing superior strength and durability.
In terms of aesthetics, the Cybertruck is polarizing. Some people love its bold, futuristic look, while others find it too unconventional. During the month of ownership, it’s clear that the Cybertruck garners a lot of attention on the road. Whether at traffic lights or in parking lots, people often stop to take pictures or ask questions.
Performance is a key area where the Tesla Cybertruck aims to excel. The Cybertruck comes in three variants: Single Motor RWD, Dual Motor AWD, and Tri Motor AWD. For this review, we focused on the Dual Motor AWD version, which offers a balanced mix of performance and efficiency.
With a 0-60 mph time of just 4.1 seconds, the Cybertruck is incredibly quick for a vehicle of its size. The instant torque provided by the electric motors makes acceleration feel effortless, and the Cybertruck handles surprisingly well thanks to its low center of gravity and adaptive air suspension. Off-road capabilities are equally impressive, with the Cybertruck easily tackling rough terrain and inclines.
In terms of range, the Dual Motor AWD variant offers 340 (320 as configured) miles on a full charge. Real-world testing over the month showed that this estimate holds up well, even with varied driving conditions and the use of features like air conditioning and the infotainment system.
Stepping inside the Tesla Cybertruck, you're greeted with a minimalist interior that contrasts sharply with its rugged exterior. The cabin is spacious, with seating for up to five people. The seats are comfortable and supportive, making long drives a pleasant experience.
The dashboard is dominated by a massive 17-inch touchscreen, which controls almost all of the vehicle's functions. This centralizes the user experience and eliminates the need for physical buttons. While this can take some getting used to, the interface is intuitive and responsive. Over-the-air updates mean that the software is continually improving, adding new features and enhancing existing ones.
Storage space is abundant, with a large front trunk (frunk), a sizable bed with a retractable cover, and additional compartments under the bed. This makes the Cybertruck not only stylish but also highly practical for various uses, from grocery runs to outdoor adventures.
One of the standout features of the Cybertruck is its robust construction. The exoskeleton and armored glass provide a sense of security, though it's worth noting that the initial demonstration of the glass didn’t go as planned. Over the month, however, there have been no issues with the durability of the materials used.
Energy efficiency is another strong suit. The cost of electricity per mile is significantly lower than gasoline, and with solar panels on the horizon, the potential for energy independence is appealing. While on road trips, you don't even need to think about where to stop to charge, the Cybertruck does it all for you!
After a month of driving, testing, and living with the Tesla Cybertruck, it’s clear that this vehicle delivers on many of its promises. Its unique design, exceptional performance, advanced technology, and practical features make it a standout in the automotive world. While it may not be for everyone, those who embrace its futuristic vision and innovative spirit will find it a rewarding and exciting ownership experience.
The Tesla Cybertruck is more than just a truck; it’s a statement about the future of transportation. If you're considering a purchase, weigh the pros and cons carefully, but rest assured that the Cybertruck is a capable, cutting-edge vehicle that pushes the boundaries of what a truck can be. After a month of ownership, we can confidently say that the Tesla Cybertruck is indeed worth the hype.

The Tesla Cybertruck has been getting in customers hands for a few months now, and in that time, we have had some quiet enhancements to the charging curve. Maybe humid-area cars release *so* much condensate water that the higher flow better cleans the dust and other contaminants off the face of the evaporator than in a dry climate, leaving the coils still wet, but somewhat cleaner? I know that comparing 2 home central ACs - one on my cousin's Hemet, CA house and one on my MA house years ago, the flow from my condensate drain in the humid climate was easily 10 or 15X what was coming off the desert home's condensate drain on a typical summer day. (Both houses were of similar size.)

Would love the more comfortable suspension but without the lowering. On the site it looks like the springs are at least a 1” (mild) drop. If anything, I’d like to get softer and slightly raised suspension for roadtrips and occasional dirt roads. Is there another kit out there for that?

  • @jeffreykilpatrick3592

Buy an Rv rated 14-50 charging cabinet - also you never plug in under power. The Rv rated cabinet will have breaker above it. Turn it off with the breaker - plug everything in all the way to the car plug - then turn on the breaker. And leave the 220 plug in all the time. You don’t plug into the 14-50 receptacle when there is power at the wall receptacle. There are no 220 14-50 receptacles that are designed to plug in with power at the receptacle. If you had a boat or an Rv you would know this. The material of the receptacle is not designed to plug in under power. Also if you push the male connector into the receptacle slowly” the power will arc from the female to male connector and create heat and spark etc. You know nothing about this topic and you are going to kill or burn people’s homes down with this stupid talk about the material of the female receptacle. You do not plug in a 50 amp 14-50 female receptacle with power at the receptacle. Turn the double breaker off - goofball…. And all these female plugs will all work just fine if you know what you are doing. Every Rv or boat owner knows not to plug in with the breakers for receptacle turned on. If you’re lazy - and insist on plugging into a receptacle with power present - do it really fast and with determination - don’t do it slowly. Even to plug in a dryer you need to turn off the power at the lbreaker. Hubbel receptacles are commercial gal and are used by most parks and marinas - but any will work. By if you plug in with power present- and do it timidly “- you will arc between connectors - create heat and flames - You caused it to fail - not the connector. And put it in its own steel external box and ideally with the dual breaks in the same box. You are giving ignorant electrical advice. You need to take this video down asap….. before you kill someone.

I live in Arizona, and I have the 2022 RWD Model 3. It came with a 63.3 KW battery, which is apparently a step up from the 51 KW battery that preceded it. Supposedly, my car had 272 miles of range, but I have 19-inch rims, so that drops it down around 10 miles. So, I get around 256 miles of range in good driving conditions if it's not too hot or cold. Originally, I speculated that it had 265 miles of range. So, my battery has not degraded a lot now. In ideal driving conditions, driving near the speed limit, I can get 4.5 miles per KW. But that is definitely driving slow - driving at the speed limit. If I pushed it, I could probably get around 280 miles in the city, but I never drive that slow. Under ideal conditions, I get around 240 miles of range, but I drive fairly fast - but all traffic in my area goes 10-15 mph over the speed limit. Overall, I love the car and it saves me a ton of money every month because gas in my area is around $4.00 per gallon. I installed a Tesla Universal Wall Connector Level 2 charger at home. To go 1000 miles, it costs me about $30.00 for electricity. I have a Toyota Tacoma 4-wheel drive, and it cost me around $330.00 in gas to drive 1000 miles. So, every 1000 miles, I save $300.00. Every 10,000 miles, I save $3,000.00. If I drive this car 60,000 miles, it will just about have paid for itself, not counting insurance. And because I got the $4,000.00 federal rebate, I will probably be able to sell it for about what I paid for it after 60,000 miles. No EV batteries currently do well in the cold. Also the LFP batteries lose range when the temperature gets over 90 degrees F. My range drops down to less than 200 miles. Still, I love this car and as you mention, it costs almost nothing to own. Charging it from 0 - 100% costs me $8.22. That gives me at least 200 miles of range, which is sufficient for driving around town several days.

Try towing a decent sized RV and see how you do with the towing. Towing an aero truck with another aero truck doesn’t give the best representation on towing. Yes you might have the weight but wind resistance would be the biggest negative. Range extender will reduce the bed and payload and I bet it never comes to fruition unless Tesla thinks other manufacturers are outselling them because of the range. They would likely be better off coming out with cyber truck 2.0 and a larger battery

Vehicles should be delivered without issues, and any problems should be resolved promptly at service centers instead of being dragged out. This seems to be the experience a lot of people are having in the Bay Area. Instead, looks like they’re out here trying to figure out how to make the cars more appealing on paper. 🙃

If you're getting roughly 81-84% of the 320 EPA range at 80 mph (which is actually better than I thought it'd be). Then with the range extender you could get 380 to almost 400 miles/charge at 80 mph out of it's 470 claimed which would be great.

I’ve had to replace my filters 4 or 5 times trying to fix the bad smell each time using the OEM stock filter from Tesla. Except for the last time. I bought a different filter with a rigid plastic shell and so far it’s been a year and the smell has not come back. I believe the stock filters wick moisture as water touches the side.
