You are not mentioning the elephant in the HOF : steriods!
Thanks for the comments but if you watched the whole video I absolutely mentions PEDs. That being said this video isn't about whether they should be in the HOF or not. It's just a list of the 10 best players NOT in the Hall. Nothing more nothing less.
#Replay.
Thank you
Just watching the replay. Thanks
Thank you
Two of em are banned, at least three more for roids. Their records should be stricken from the game.
Disagree. They're numbers are skewed no doubt but you can't deny the talent. They're not in the HOF and shouldn't be but they were great players who took it too far.
Hey dude
Hey Chris!
O's are showcasing Norby for trade
Absolutely but they do need another viable righty and infield until Mateo back.
Hope not!! Norby is the better long term answer than both Mateo and Urias. Trading wouldn't be a good idea unless they get a difference maker. I'm hesitant to let him go.
Holiday is the 2nd base answer!
@@Methoes123 agreed but Norby can also play the outfield. There are other spots for him.
@@birdlandnetwork83 True! But he's worth more now as a trade chip for Pitching , unless the injury bug bites again? Don't lose sight of Holiday. He can cover the OF as well. We may see just that? Holiday in OF running down balls. He's very fast!
Definitely agree his bat will play up here..He's ready!.. Take care GO O'S BABY
He's in the lineup tonight. Fingers crossed he does well.
@@birdlandnetwork83 Looking forward to that.
that's the only contract Mullins has been making lately that said Norby needs to play everyday
LOL!! Agreed on both counts.
You said Manny set the record for RBIs in a season . You're a joke .
Hack Wilson. My mistake. But thanks for being nice about pointing out my mistake. D*ckhead!!
Orioles front office has major decisions to make. They will be here til end of season. Chemistry is big with these three for the team. Why bring up Stowers and sit him for the most part. Irritating
Lots of shaking my head for sure. That being said even with the chemistry we're now into June and Hays and Mullins both are under .200 and nob producing. Changes have to be on the horizon. How long do we have to wait?
Never thought babe was a HOF . Average player at best .. Haha sike . Great video
LOL
barry pete should be in steve gravey fred lynn dave concepcion dale murphey were great players and should be in
Can't let everyone in. It's the Hall of Fame for a reason. Not the Hall of Very Good
Babe Ruth is definitely one of the greatest to ever play the game. Thanks for sharing his statistics.
The greatest in my opinion. Did it all.
He is #1, the debate starts with who’s #2 and I detest the Yankees
Wow! Those are some impressive numbers 151 out of 155 games. Then it might be some catchers that don't catch 150 games in 2 years. Much less one sounds like he's definitely deserving of the Hall of Fame for sure
Agreed. Good player
Dave Parker...nuff said!
Good Player.
Ahhhh….Hello?….Albert Belle?
Scary hitter for a few seasons but doesn't make my list
@@birdlandnetwork83 : Scary for 10 seasons. He was a monster.
@@tedmichaels1951 on and off the field
I started to play your video, but hit pause after I heard your criteria. I want to come up with my own list and compare to yours. My list is a little different. I went with best defensive players that I saw play. No stats, just the eye test. Here is my list: P: Greg Maddux C: Pudge Rodriquez 1B: Mark Grace 2B: Roberto Alomar SS: Ozzie Smith 3B: Mike Schmidt LF: Dave Winfield CF: Jim Edmonds RF: Ichiro Suzuki I'll finish watching the video to see if any of mine are on your list. Thanks again for the videos!
Wow. Our lists were very close. I would have had Andrew Jones if I used any OF position. Fun video.
Good list.
We were similar at several positions no doubt.
Rusty Staub belongs in the HOF. Prolific hitter.
Good hitter.
I really enjoy your profiles of players!
Thank you
Shoeless Joe like Pete Rose was banned from baseball!,
Correct.
What about David Concepción? I think he belongs in the Hall of fame...
Not sure. Didn't make my list.
I Think Tacoma Park's Steve Barber had a chance top ,make the Hall of Fame had he not injured his arm in 1966. For the rest of his career he had trouble winning games or staying healthy. Rafael Palmeiro has the HOF numbers but no chance of gong into the Hall. He is one of only seven players in MLB history to be a member of both the 500 home run club (569) and the 3,000 hit club, (3020) He also has 586 doubles
Funny enough I knew his son John Barber. Used to work with him at Kibby's restaurant a very long time ago. Good pitcher for sure. Palmeiro put up good numbers but the PEDs will always be a black mark for him.
@@birdlandnetwork83 I met Jim Gentile's son once. Was not happy when his dad was traded to KC for Norm Siebern. As it turned out neither one of them would last long in the majors.
I think O’s use the injury list whenever players are not producing as an excuse to bench them. KREMER Sucks, never liked him or Wells, the complete Pitching staff is shaky, never can hold leads to o mediocre teams
If they do it's smart. Helps to keep from having to use options. The starting pitching has actually been a strength this year.
Good job.
Thank you
Also, that grand slam was in the ninth inning of a 7-0 blowout, ending in 11-1. That’s not a critical time for such a hit.
agreed
Your points are absolutely right on. It’s unpopular to criticize the Orioles because the fans of nowadays haven’t had this success. I am from the time when they did nothing but win - Frank and Boog and four 20 game winner days until 1983, after which I stopped watching for a while. Those teams used to scare the other teams to death in offense and steel trap defense, even the 1982-83 teams. We don’t actually have that now, nor that kind of management to make great trades (yes, I said it - look it up and you’ll see I am right), or managing in a championship manner (examine it and see the differences, you’ll see). It’s one thing to ride an overachieving team (I never thought I would say that), and another thing to lead them as if they are champions. Weaver and Altobelli could handle gigantic achievers, and treated them as men. We don’t have that kind of leadership now. The pitchers are not given enough confidence to pitch out of jams, as an example. Platoon, ok - but do it with some logic. Stowers gives it all he has got and he is played once. Anyway, it makes no sense to bury our heads in the sand.
Great comments and thank you for watching, I will say I think this team is extremely talented. Adley, Gunnar, Westburg, Grayson, Bradish, Stowers, Holliday, and more help to make this team a contender. I just think that guys like Mullins and Hays shouldn't be given a long leash based off prior numbers that.....to be honest.....weren't really that good. I have confidence in this team but the hitting has to turn around. Remember we only have Burnes for one season. We need to take advantage of that and try to win it all. We definitely have the talent.
Not worried.
I hope you're right.
Ur right Cedric would've scored if he was 2/3 of way to second but not passed it. He has been a way different guy than the played who carried us a few years ago. Way too many strikeouts & pop outs for speedy guy. I think he has focused on trying to hit bombs every time. A couple spectacular defensive plays early this season have overshadowed his underachieving year.
Cedric really hasn't come close to those numbers since that season. Actually his numbers across the board have declined over the past two seasons and into this season. Whether it's injuries or just performance, either way he's not performing and at some point a decision will have to be made. Hays too. Santander is a free agent at the end of the season so I'm assuming he's not coming back.
This is my new favorite podcast. I love the Os but I also love honest takes .
Thank you for the kind words. Let's hope they turn it around in Chicago. Also thank you for watching.
Um, the major league record for rbis are 190 by Hack Wilson. Last time I checked, the American League record for rbis was 170 by Lou Gehrig. I’m not sure if math has changed, but 165 is less than both of those figures I just put up. You should have got some braces as a kid. Your voice is terrible.
Arld is Afraud
Many people would agree with you. Many won't as well.
@@birdlandnetwork83 the ones who wont are in denial. he only hit close to 700 HRs bc of the PEDs. as with bonds, *MAYBE* without them he could have hit as many, we will never know. plus he was just another overpaid POS. NO ONE deserves that much money for *playing* a GAME 1/2 a year
@@anonymousYTviewer69 whether they deserve the money or not is irrelevant. It's the market they play in. This whole thing is about ability and say what you want he was an amazing talent who took it too far. He would have been a HOFer without the PEDs but.....Now he won't be and I'm ok with that. Don't let your hatred for a player cloud the facts. Be objective and fair.
@@birdlandnetwork83 all that money and he rarely performed up to the same level in the postseason. I think 09 was the WS he won or appeared in. Other post seasons he choked on the first round.
Guy looks 63 years old but is probably 23
Hard time to live back then. Didn't have the luxuries we have today. Definitely took it's toll. Great hitter though.
This list is totally out of order lol Ozzie number seven? You got to be kidding me! From your lifetime Cardinals fan ha ha 5:29
I understand. Ozzie was great and definitely the greatest defensively. Thank you for watching.
Alan Trammel is in the HOF
You’re right! 2018 I forgot!
While it was a different era, Wagner averaged nearly 50 errors per season. A Rod is the better player
Gotta disagree. Wagner averages 32 errors a season at shortstop not 50 and you're right it was a different ERA. Plus his defensive WAR all time is 21.3 which is 44th. ARod has a defensive WAR of 10.4 which is 241st so in some respects ARod wasn't the better fielder. At least that's what the numbers say. I love these conversations. Nobody is technically wrong. It's all subjective, but the numbers help your case or my case at times. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Ozzie Smith is my favorite baseball player of all time. Watching him turn a double play was a thing of beauty
He was great.
One the most memorable moments in Cardinal history: Jack Buck's call of Ozzie's walk-off home run in game 5 of the 1985 NLCS. "Go crazy, folks. Go crazy!"
@@veronicamorrison193 My 2 favorite parts of the Cardinals Hall Of Fam Museum is getting to make that legendary call yourself and getting to hold one of Ozzie's bats
1. Arod Then everyone else
I'm sure there are many who would agree with you. #2 for me.
One of my favorite players of all time. What's impressive about him is how he adapted his pitching style when he lost the heat from his fastball. He developed an amazing changeup to offset that MPH loss from his fastball.
Great player no doubt.
always wild to me how some of the best all time were converted position players
I agree!!
I love all three of these guys in our Outfield. They took us through the storm. I'll never forget that and will always be grateful. I pray they will all break out of their funks offensively and surprise everybody that they can do better than popping out most of the time. I can't figure out what is happening and I don't think ANY of them have attitude problems. These guys are all winners and workers and team players. It must be hard for you to make a video like this when you also know their character. All top notch. Baseball is a humbling game, but I've seen great success stories come out of failures. I don't know what the future holds but I know it is bright for the Orioles. I would love to see those 3 veterans open up a can of whoop-@$$ in 2024 and help win the World Series and go out with the blaze of glory they brought to the club! But and old sage once told me "You can WANT in one hand and Sh!T in the other!" I reckon we'll just see. Rooting for my vets, but also rooting for those up and comers!
Hopefully they'll turn it around. We're gonna need them.
I think the only one who may be a little difficult to replace is Mullins only because they don't really have a really good cf to bring up to replace him. All the prospects are corner outfielders no true cf
Enrique Bradfiled (still a couple years away) this year's draft pick is the player they're hoping will be our next center fielder. Look up his metrics. He actually rates higher than Mullins in Fielding and Running. He's and 80 grade in both which is the highest grade you can get. To be honest I don't need a tremendous CF I just need someone who is good and can get to balls but also produce offensively. I Mullins' only contribution is his defense then he becomes a pinch runner/late inning defensive replacement and that's not good for someone making of 6MIL a year. Plus I think Cowser is a CF and he would do just fine. Of course he needs to start hitting again too, but he gets a pass as a rookie. Thanks for the comments and for watching
Cowser , Kjerstad and Stowers, and O'Hearn can play the outfield.
Agreed
Very good analysis
Thank you for the very kind words and for watching
Man, I would hate to give up on all this gold glove caliber defense...
That's the rub. I agree defense will be compromised if Mullins, Hays and Santander are replaced. That being said Cowser or Stowers can play a very good left or center to help make up for it. If you're a huge defensive guy then Mullins and company are your cup to tea. I tend to feel their defense is awesome but not elite enough to allow for the major offensive struggles we've seen from them. Can't have it all. Those are called Hall of Famers!! These guys aren't that.
I am very pleased that you included spray charts to valudate your point. My opinion is that for the last three seasons, beginning in July Mullins and Hayes start pulling the ball and stop trying to hit the ball to yhe opposite field. It leads to strikeouts and weak infield popups. I think they are doing this because they are in the arbitration years of thier contract. More power stats, more money. I think Hayes will come on strongfot the next month or two. Just like he did during the beginning of last year, he will focus on hitting the other way. Hopefully, he can maintain that team first focus and with more outfield depth, stay healthy. That said, I think Hayes will likely be traded away at the deadline. I have no idea about Mullins. Why did he stop bunting to get on base? Jim Palmer talks about Cedric's approach when he doesn't use the whole field. Mullins must know and he is certainly capable of hitting to all fields and bunting more to increase his OBP. Its his attitude. I like Hayes and Mulins. The past 2.25 years has proven that you can't trust them to be available or for what they will produce offensively. They don't offer much position flex as "established veterans". Then there is Santander who will be a free agent and historically, he goes into prolonged slumps against RHP. He also provides big hits, power and at this point in time, the Orioles don't have anyone to fill his production and veteran intangibles in the lineup. That said, CF is my concern. I think Stowers & Cowser will get a shot at earning the starting position. (Send Mullins to Florida to get his mind right and convince him to buy into an offensive approach that will be good for him and improve the teams chances at winning).
All very good points. Thank you for the insight and for watching.
Kyle Stowers has played 110 innings on CF this year at AAA. This is signicantly more than he has in the past. It seems Elias has been preparing for this move just in case Mullins struggled or injured.
Not sure why Stowers is up. They called him up yesterday and both Yesterday and today the Blue Jays are starting right handers and yet Stowers is not in the lineup. So even with Mullins, Cowser, Santander and Hays struggling they are not putting him in the lineup. That said...I'm sure he'll start the afternoon finale against Toronto.
I think we will see Kyle Stowers get starts in CF. I have no idea who they trust more in CF, Stowers or Cowser. But, historically in the minor leagues Stowers has been able to hit LHP sufficiently to be an everyday player. Elias said when they drafted Stowers that they believe he can play CF. That is the extent of my data on Stowers in CF. All he needs to do is hit .240-.260 while maintaining his power numbers and don't have a, negative runs saved stat in CF. Supposedly Stowers is close with Adley. I think they are going to give him a true opportunity to win the CF job. I hope Stowers has developed a better two strike approach to foul off more pitches and hit some opposite field singles. The big swings are majestic. Sometimes the team will need him to do the little things to win.
Hey bud, well done. Smart, accurate analysis.
Thank you very much for the kind words and thank you for watching.
They should fire the manager, trade everyone and start over
LOL!!
Mullins, Hayes, Mateo, Urias are all either pinch runners/defense sub at the end of games or need to go. We need to stop bringing up prospects just to have them sit. The damage its doing to their mindsets is unforgiveable.
I agree to a point. The Orioles are trying to win. It would be extremely risky to have a team full of 1st or 2nd year guys trying to win a championship. Veteran leadership is important but only to a degree. That veteran leadership also has to produce. So I think having four guys that are just reserves like that is way too many and Mullins/Hays will get their chances to turn their seasons around. We need the leadership and experience for the stretch run and playoffs. That said your point is a good one and I think next year those four may be elsewhere or have limited roles.
The Orioles are set to have a ton of top prospects coming through the system. They will all need to play somewhere, whether we keep them, or ship them out. The roster will be changing dramatically. It's amazing that we're going thru what we have, with the best record in the American league
It's a good problem to have but one that won't last forever. The window to win opens and shuts quickly sometimes. If the Orioles are going to trade some of these guys it needs to be the right ones and for the right player. Remember the Andrew Miller trade a few years back?
