      I appreciate your concern! I know people will probably steal it. But trying to hide the reference would be difficult as I heavily rely on using them for modelling, and it wouldn't make a great tutorial if the reference was hard to see for myself and for others. I don't care for those who steal, but I always feel grateful for the decent people who actually support me through purchasing the reference I made rather than yoinking it (stealing it) from the video with snipit or something similar.

    Heyya, I am returning to the hair for a minute, due to me having like, 50 hair bangs, I went lazy mode and skipped lowering the edge/face amount. My question is is it very important to lower it? I know you mentioned it having better performance in some scenarios. Let's say I want to animate the character and make cinematics and animations inside Blender, making the hair flow in the air due to wind, having it effected by gravity, the hair moving due to the character touching it, etc etc etc... Is having a big face/vertices count a big problem/will it slow down the rendering a lot? Or can I in this case skip lowering the face count? heck, does having a higher face count make the hair look even more smooth in the end in this case? I don't intend on using this character in any game engine. I really just plan on making animations with it.

    • @Astrialogical
      @Astrialogical Před 2 měsíci

      As I am not an animator, I really can't give you a good answer to this. As I focus more on VTuber models, MMD Models and VRChat models, it's better for me personally to lower the polycount so it's optimised for the computers and programs I am using. It's also just a lot cleaner lowering it. I don't know if it will negatively affect the animations if it is default polycount.

    At 6:57, when making the bevel path *thicc*, for some reason the vertices are on the side of the now round bevel instead of the going straight through the middle of it. so the bevel model has an offset to the vertices to the left. Man I keep messing things up somehow even tho I follow step by step. (I re-did it like 4 times each, and it is always the same outcome) is there a way to move the model or the vertices and adjust them without changing the shape?

    I am finally making the head! I ran into another issue unfortunately. I searched the web already but most things didn't really help, usually this issue also appears to only happen when I reopen the .blend file to continue working. the issue is the following: I am currently making the back of the head, I extracted from the face backwards and did everything as usual, I then noticed it seemed very edgy, blocky and bad, so I did what I do every 2 minutes, Smooth Vertices...didn't work, I redo it, still same outcome, I re-add the subdivision surface, still doesn't fix it, I go to mesh->cleanup->Merge by Distance then do mesh->Shading->Shade Smooth, this didn't help either, it just made the new spot look more whacky than it already was. The shadows go all over the place. sometimes when I redo it though it looks fine, but when I do the same thing again somewhere else, it does not. I checked if I accidentally double-extruded or if any vertices are whacky or if I connected some in a weird way, but that is not the case either. Ik you said in my other comment before helping is hard without seeing it, and I believe it, but if you have any other clues what I might try please lmk this seems like such a simple issue, yet I am too dumb to help myself, thanks for the videos again though! I am really looking forward to finally finish making this character!

    • @Astrialogical
      @Astrialogical Před 2 měsíci

      That sounds to me like a normals issue (I could be wrong, I am far from a professional aaa). In edit mode, select the whole section that is having issues (or the whole head if that is easier) and press ALT + N, and select recalculate outside. If that one doesn't work, select recalculate inside. I hope that is the issue, otherwise I unfortunately wouldn't know without have the files myself to look at.

      @@Astrialogical It appears there was a few tiny faces which were the wrong way, fixed now, it looks a better now. There are still some faces tho at the ear which are triangles (I am sorry lol) they appear to be a bit junky, they just seem out of place a bit, the shading of them is weird somehow and they looks sharp instead of smooth, is that truly the issue of the ear having a few triangle faces? (I really hope I am not being annoying with these paragraphs of youtube comments 😭) also for some reason now the eyes and eyelashes are considered the inside? (they are red in that inside/outside view)

    • @Astrialogical
      @Astrialogical Před 2 měsíci

      The ears having triangles may be the reason why it is having some weird shading effect. I don't really use triangles unless there is no way to make them work as quads so I am not entirely sure. I don't think I'd have a solution to resolve that other than deleting the triangles and trying to work them out as quads instead and see if that fixes the issue. As for the eyes and lashes being flipped, all you need to do is select those individually and doing the same thing to make their normals on the outside and that should fix it.

    • @Astrialogical

    how do you get your cylinder to resize like that after you mirror it? mine squishes together to make a weird long oval shape instead of being even.

      So at first I scale only on the X axis from the front view. For whatever reason the axis keys don't show up on screencast keys but I pressed S + X from the front to get it to scale only from side to side. Then I use G to move and move it in so it all uniformly "scale" how I want it to.
