Hello Bob, What happened to you is sad and unfair, as some copyright regulations go too far unnecessarily, backed by greedy companies. Looking forward to your return with more oldies but goodies hits. Cheers!
Thank you!
Jerry Garcia w/ David Grisman did a great version of this too.
Always liked this song from the first time I heard it.
Modified Mal on the racks, surf running for gnarley tubes, this on the radio as you did so. Cant get much better.
The Cramps me trajo aquí
What a great song! This is why I always hated Oldies radio stations. They make everybody sound like one to three hit wonders. You keep hearing the same small pool of records over and over. I never knew about this record. It sounds fantastic. I'm pretty sure if the British Invasion had not been in full swing, this would have been a larger hit- but who cares? It sounds just as excellent now as it would have if I had been a teenager back then.
People need to understand that in 1963, Billboard eliminated the R&B and C&W charts (they were restored by the end of 1964)--hence the relative obscurity of too many of these songs.
Jack Nitzsche was an American composer, arranger, producer. He became arranger and conductor for producer Phil Spector, and orchestrated the Wall of Sound for almost all Spector's hits. And he worked with the Rolling Stones from the album "The Rolling Stones, now!" to "Emotional Rescue", and also he worked with Neil Young from the album "Expecting to fly" (Buffalo Springfield) to "Tuscaloosa". He wrote for many film music, for example, "Up Where We Belong"(from the 1982 film An officer and a gentleman), 'The Exorcist" (1973), "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975), et cetra.
ONE OF KING'S FAVORITE SONGS.
My mom asked me how I was today. I started singing this and she was pissed. I said: what? it's mel brooks?
Certainly crestfallen. City lights do not shine so bright when you have no one to enjoy them with.
We used to dance the Madison to this song by: Paul Anka.
Slow dance 500abd the grin. Party at house back then.

Man, I remember listening to this when that 1988 movie Rain Man began!
Groovy man!
Awsome song

Butter my flies this is the best way for me to express myself
I was only 6 years old, when this was on the charts. And I remember it very well. And now, 62 years later, I still love it.
Great Movie. Love this Theme song done so nicely by Pat Boone.
I was 9 yrs old when this came out. now 77 yrs old an oldy but goody.
Imagine blasting this in an old flathead coupe banging gears down a dirt road!
#7 WTIX New Orleans 5/77/55
Came here because I was surprised to see this in the Top 10 survey of a Birmingham, AL rock station from May 1965, (when I was 18). It was #9, preceded by “For Your Love” by The Yardbirds; and followed by “Wooly Bully” by Sam The Sham and The Pharaohs! 😂
Co-written by Ray Stevens
If didn't know better, I would thought this was performed by The Four Seasons.
Wow, just learnt about them and this version. Awesome!!! Even better than Frank and Nancy, more gentle and genuine!
love everybody's history input- fun!😊

Lyrics: In the still of the night I held you, held you tight 'Cause I love, love you so Promise I'll never let you go In the still of the night I remember that night in May The stars were bright above I'll hope and I'll pray To keep your precious love Well before the light Hold me again with all of your might In the still of the night So before the light, hold me again With all of your might In the still of the night In the still of the night

🔥🔥🔥🔥
This, diks, is what's called a hit single. Which means the songwriter can tell his boss to go ^%$# himself.
Good version!
I absolutely love this song so beautiful.

When it sounds like you copied The Temptations and Diana Ross but they really copied you, then you know your arrangement (Jimmy Wisner), your lead (Dee Dee), and your background singers (Ashford and Simpson), created a masterpiece.

Lyrics: Cupid, draw back your bow And let your arrow go Straight to my lover's heart for me, for me Cupid, please hear my cry And let your arrow fly Straight to my lover's heart for me Now, I don't mean to bother you But I'm in distress There's danger of me losing all of my happiness For I love a girl who doesn't know I exist And this you can fix So, Cupid, draw back your bow And let your arrow go Straight to my lover's heart for me, nobody but me Cupid, please hear my cry And let your arrow fly Straight to my lover's heart for me Now, Cupid, if your arrow make her love strong for me I promise I will love her until eternity I know between the two of us her heart we can steal Help me if you will So, Cupid, draw back your bow And let your arrow go Straight to my lover's heart for me, nobody but me Cupid, please hear my cry And let your arrow fly Straight to my lover's heart for me Now, Cupid Don't you hear me Calling you? I need you Cupid Help me I need you Cupid Don't fail me
I think a version with indian sitar doing those main "doo doo doo doo doo doo" notes would be badass
Richard Hell from Television and the Voidoids recommended this song to me. I listened to it and I was immediately enchanted. I had heard the Moody Blues cover as a kid but I had never heard the original version. The Bessie Banks original has so much soul.
This is one of my favorite songs by this group and voice was totally amazing and still is wow what a powerful voice I think the aqua tone should’ve been a bigger group than they were they are still fantastic especially with songs like my treasure our first kiss solid Gold Cadillac for you for you brilliant songs
Good Voice (until 1965 turn to Falsetto). Thank You. (Used to sing with his early songs in my Car Radio)
i heard this song when i was a child, but the another verson. i loved hearing kids singing ^^
The first Everly Brothers song I ever heard was this one. No wonder their music was dubbed “bluegrass rock and roll.” This song is great!
A great classic of doo-wop rock and roll! I love it!
