Ok, I am probably a total psycho for this but... doesn't the Hive realise that they could have lied to Shadow instead? Not even that much of a lie. The girl will go back to her brothers. They could even swear it. After all the brothers are orphaned now, probably uglies. Just take out the whole of them, I don't think they would work well with Autodale after something like this either way. And the Hive can use this as a bargain chip: we will let thw girl reach her brothers, as you wished, and you won't inquire about the freak child. He would choose the human girl and the Hive could have its cake and eat it too. I am disappointed. Weren't they supposed to be exceptional? Or have they given away so much of their humanity that they can't even remember which kinds of blackmail would actually work?

I think it's totally figurative, not that he is a freak that just doesn't see himself as one Because the people who were escaping from Autodale, the ones whose bones he finds... they are normal people. Normal bones. But it's hard to think that so many people from Autodale managed to both realise they had to escape and succeed. What makes way more sense is that Autodale fought off the freaks. That's why he finds more and more as he gets closer, because less and less managed to escape further. He too is prejudiced towards others, others are all strange. But unlike the people from Autodale he knows how to accept others even if they're different. When they die they become humans again because a dead is a dead, no matter how horrible or strange or stupid or exceptional of a person they used to be. Although I suppose the people of Autodale would still see the deads as freaks because that's the kind of society they live in. And now that I am writing it I think that the uglies agree to die because the next step would be becoming freaks, as if it were a disease They go away before becoming something worse. And that's why we see the uglies as human, because they died serving the society so they are still fine. If they didn't, if they went against Autodale, that wouldn't make them uglies, it would make them monsters.

ok but what if - just if - mom was telling her that she shouldn't run from the monsters after all? I mean, it's not like she could have said anything more than she did if it was the case. Can't I have this little hope?

"An eye for an eye, makes the whole world blind." The Hunter Helionyx tried for so long to find the beast that took his son, to avenge his child's death. It was Only when he took the trip into the ruins of the ForeFathers that he found a beast, a Smilodon, with his own Son's Knife still stuck into its neck. Upon realising this was the same monster that claimed his own child, he entered a standoff against it, attempting to finish what his son started, doing battle with the Smilodon. The beast took a swipe at his face, clawing several large gashes across one of his eyes. Now both bleeding, the two stood off, until Helionyx Taunted the beast to Tackle him, which it did, letting him reach the Blade and Finish off the beast once he could get atop it and stab it one last time. But once the rage had passed, The Regret set in. He instantly felt remorse for such a needless Death, as it was only doing what all creatures did. Hunt, Feed, Survive. And then Another noise caught his attention, the cries of a Cub, now soon to be an Orphan, from deeper within the ruin. That was the moment he realised what he'd done. A Father without a Son may yet survive to have another, but a Cub without a Mother would be doomed, and He knew as much. In the Smilodon's last moments, he swore to it that he would take care of the Little Cub in her stead, raise it as if it were his own, and so he did. And though a Father had lost his son, and a Cub had lost its Mother, A new bond was formed between those that remained. A Partnership built in the place of Loss, new Kinship, New Peace formed where once was Hatred and Revenge. And a Drive to Survive *Together.*

Theory(maybe just speculation or just a personil thought) I believe that the people in auto dial have chips in their heads that caused them to hallucinate and believe that the freaks are not human, it could be possible that the scarf kid form "don't feed the freaks" had on of theses, but it broke once he was in autodall or malfunctioned at some point, and I believe that when some one becomes ugly, that's when their chip malfunctions that caused them to hallucinate and believe that the other humans outside the walls are freaks. ( I know this doesn't have a lot of evidence, but it's a good idea to add to a future film)

My favorite detail is the echoing flute-like call of the sauropod. It's such a logical idea, with that long neck, but I don't think I've ever seen it depicted that way in media.
