Work in Progress (1951)
1951 - British Transport Film
Directed by: Michael Clarke
The film starts on the Woodhead Route where a century-old tunnel is replaced by a new one. Farther north, Argyllshire is the scene of an experiment in co-ordinated road haulage service. At March Whitemoor Yard in Cambridgeshire, marshalling of goods wagons is being speeded by radio. In Bristol bus operators are analysing the problems of congestion that apply to most modern cities. The famous Golden Arrow runs between London and Dover

Nice to see gopal he taught me and I drove a bus for 5 years. I now live in 🇫🇷
36 journeys, 4 off them cried off sick, a boiled engine somewhere. Then ask, why do passengers get angry?

dudududu dudududu dudududu.... CHELSEA
Memories, l trained in a crash gear box route master in Aberdeen about 1981, had some laughs on the buses.

Thanks for sharing, remember watching this when originally aired, a cracking snapshot from the shop floor of the bus industry back in the early 90’s.

Aldenham - the original Northern Heights rail depot for the extension to Bushy Heath … travesty both are now gone!
Disciplinary for going early as a driver ! But the conductor regulates time. If the driver leaves early and the conductor says nothing he's at least jointly if not solely to blame .
Nadene's daughter is so stuck up uts disgusting how about get a job and move out of your mums house if you are above everyone 😂😂😂

A dead end jobs for bums who done nothing with their life
It’s better than people wasting their lives on social media and plus these people get millions of Londoners moving everyday whilst boosting the economy
It’s probably better than what you do and they probably make more than you do on your of or whatever tf you do
@@dimitarmeckaroski I make more than double than what they make. This is my last reply. You don't know me. Weird guy. You must be a bus driver 😆 I could be a bus driver if I wanted to.. it takes no qualification. The 18 year old next door is a bus driver. End of convo

Ches story
oh the nostalgia i get from watching this
It's a long way away from the days of Stan n Jack and the 'clippees.'
I worked on the 11 bus route the no9 rival for the most popular route in London. Mortlake’s buses were the best kept buses in London transport fleet , they weren’t clean they absolutely gleamed , a credit to one of the smallest garages in the fleet .
This really changed my perspective on Bus Drivers!
D - Doors O - Observations G - Gears S - Signal
I have felt quite a few drivers mount a curb when I have been in buses
Best feeling passing yout bus test. Even better than passing your car test. Well done Claire.
Glad I'm retired and away from getting up at 0230 in the morning driving freezing cold buses. Did it for over 40 years non stop. Hard life and not good for your health. One wrong move and the company would sack you. Some management were absolute bar stewards.
That one where jim said "you too could be trained by another company and drive like that was a go-ahead bus..
What, no skid pan??? Where is the skid pan, thought they had to do skids, etc. On psv .mmmm 😮
Nice look at life in stockwell bus garage . Used to be a bus mechanic for the midland red . Bmmo. . Life was very similar . Good days .

Well prepared for time I get into a double deck with the shorter wheel base hopefully
I did have a copy of this from London Transport headquarters with the music cassette on some sort of 70’s briefcase showfilm. I took the case apart as I was young but I lost the film and music 😢

When was the last time the managers drove a bus in service?
When I'm driving - I manage my BUS and NOT my performance screen!!! Thank you iBus for looking after us!!!
Where Road Safety is concerned and with Destination Zero looming I'd like to get some of those Managers in my training room to change their attitudes! It's not just down to the drivers to make it all work! It takes 'everyone' to make it safer!

1:34 supposed to be a pun? ‘Smart move’, smart car
😂
23:35 why driving a single route the entire career? Why not having different routes on different days? Apart from that I think that London depends way to much on having busses in the downtown area, there are way too many of them around The staff rooms at the garage look kind of poor, like in really bad shape. That's not the kind of environment a company's work force should have to live with.
