Eyup, I'm a bus driver in the Peak District. Thought it would be a nice idea to share from a bus drivers perspective some of the experiences I have while trying to get a bus through the Peaks!

*BRAND NEW* Enviro 200MMC down Winnats Pass
Here we see our Brand New Enviro 200MMC, negotiating the rather intimidating Road of Winnats Pass.
I was sceptical about this MMC at first, I have driven 4 cylinder ones with voith gearboxes before and I've hated them for being very sluggish and jerky. We'll see how our one stands rhe test of time however I am very impressed with it. Not as jerky as other ones I've driven and the top end power if the best I've know for a 4 pot engine!
The suspension and handling of MMCs I find is superior to standard Enviro 200s and the cab layout and having proper switches is also a vast improvement.
My main criticism is the start-stop, which normally I find useful as it makes it easier to talk to passemger when they are boarding. However this one is fitted with a very loud alarm to tell you the start stop has activated, which is very distracting especially when pulling out if junctions.
Aside from that, a very nice bus!

Voith Trident Kickdowns 😍

Sadly not in the Peak district, but this is s good stretch of road (A61 between Chesterfield and Clay Cross) to show a trident off. This is a temporary addition to the hulleys fleet to help out while one of the Enviro 400s is being problematic. Reg: LR52KXJ
Drivers Perspective of an Older Enviro 200

Here we see the oldest Enviro 200 in the Hulleys fleet coping pretty well with the hills between Kelstidge and Chesterfield on a Dead run. This has a Euro 6 exhaust mod (like what the MCV Evolutions have) so isn't as powerful as you'd expect, having said that I wouldn't call this a slow bus and is one of the nicest enviro 200s I've driven. Driving an ex-London Open Top Bus

Here we see a run on Hulleys Open Top Dennis Trident which has seen some use on the Sunday X70, the video is shown on assessment to see whether the roads are suitable for Open-Top use. Although it hasn't seen much use this year, it has shown how much potential an open top bus could bring to the peak district so will hopefully see some more use next summer on a more adventurous route! Dodging Sheep around Chatsworth House

Chatsworth house is a truly stunning building, however most times driving upto it you don't get a chance to look at the house but instead make sure sheep aren't about to run infront of you! Darting up hill & along The Edges

Another dart video! This one's very responsive and one of the quickest I've driven. When pulling out of Hathersage the speed limit is 30mph which the bus can quite happily do, but it's very sensitive to dropping gears making the speed limit a bit awkward to stick to. Weird Gearbox set up on an Enviro 200

As the title suggests... this is the only enviro 200 which I've driven which goes through gears as quickly as this, but then seems to hold the gears very well up an incline (when it wants to - example at 2:13 where it drops from 6th to 5th to 4th, then golds 4th), under the right conditions it will hold the gears upto the rev limiter (not shown in the video). This was my first time driving our new 258 service which currently runs Sundays only and is designed to bring more people to Stanage Edge, Burbage Rocks and Higger Tor. This was a rather nasty trip from Middleton through Youlgrave to Alport. Traffic seemed busier than usual and combined with lots of parked cars made it difficult for such a long bus to get through! Is the steering really off centred?
could listen to one of these for ages, such an amazing sound. trident, voith, plaxton president bodywork - such a fantastic combo
Here in Germany, we have bus trains with 12m solo buses pulling trailers made by both Hess and Göppel. Now in order to be strong enough to pull them at acceptable speeds, some of these buses (mostly the Göppel and Solaris ones) were fitted with a 360 hp DAF PR 6 cylinder engine. Sometimes though, these can be found as standalone buses not pulling any trailers. And if you decide to hop on... they are ridiculously fast, limited to 125 kph (almost 80 mph) but they could certainly do more considering a 4 cylinder 260 hp 12m Mercedes Citaro can do the same.

All Allison E200s from 2014 onwards had the newer generation of the Allison 2100 series gearbox with 6 gears instead of 5, which improves fuel efficiency and acceleration
It's scenery like this that makes me love Yorkshire and Derbyshire

What happens if you have to pass a car on the narrow streches?
Any High Peak buses solos would be struggling to get to 40 on that bypass.

That’s a nice country route😅
The sound is made by the thyristors. A few Southeastern trains make this sound too on accelerating and slowing down, as they were made by the same company as the Jubilee Line trains.
Quick question what was the procedure and everything because you bought yours from your employer, what was the process if u don’t mind me asking, because I’m buying my own soon.
