    Excellent video ! There seems to be a broad range of differences of opinion with drinking AF drinks. I find that really cool as it confirms we are all different .. We are entitled to have different views and beliefs ( limiting or not) so that’s great awareness of how humans operate , basically from a set of beliefs formed by experiences . For me , Alcohol free beers ( especially the Guinness zero ) has been a game changer .. As I do enjoy the “taste” of the odd cold beer but when the buzz never comes I don’t crave another one , or the one after or the one after that. Why ? Because there is no Alcohol in it and Alcohol is a DRUG which sets up the constant chase of that initial “buzz” .. However the buzz that never comes like the buzz that “does” with the one that contains Alcohol .. Absolute Game changer once I understood this .. Whatever works for you is the best and sober living is simply the best life …

    I am sober for getting on for 3650 days and I don't accept there isn't a cost that comes with sobriety. Sober people are boring to intoxicated people - they are more cautious, more conservative, less humorous and less fun. In my experience you simply have to accept that your drinking buddies won't like the boring sober new you and once the realise there is no way you are going back to drinking - they will stop seeking out your company and inviting you to parties etc. The harsh truth is your social life takes a hit when you give up drinking. On the subject of alcohol free beers I would urge caution. Alcohol free beer and wine are great for people who are confidently established in a non- drinking lifestyle but people who are in the early days of making the transition should avoid them. If on your first day of sobriety you go to your usual bar with your usual drinking companions your first drink might well be non-alcoholic but I doubt all the subsequent beers will be alcohol free. In the early days of sobriety pubs, bars and even restaurants are best avoided.

    568 days alcohol free here and absolutely thriving. I love non alcoholic beers and wines, even a sugar free Red Bull is a treat for me. My wife and I still do bar crawls but have non alcoholic beers at each one. Granted we're not out until 3am anymore, but it's still going out and you realise being around people, listening to music and experiencing the atmosphere is a big part of a fun night out and what you're drinking is actually a very small part of it.

    I did two months completely off alcohol. I could definitely see some benefits although nothing earth shattering. Quitting completely forever wasn’t for me but 6 months later I drink far far less - can realise suddenly I have been going a couple of weeks without it and I don’t even notice, that would never have happened previously.

    I'm 70 y.o., and not much of a party guy. I USED TO like a couple shots of whiskey or dark rum in the evening, and would drink a few beers when going downtown to hear live music. I'm now a little over the six-month mark with no alcohol. It's surprisingly easy to go alcohol-free. Your social scene changes though, usually for the better!

    I think it's important to understand the classification of Drinker here now I may be wrong but to me it sounds like the guy in the video is probably more of a social drinker which is a very different Drinker than someone who drinks specifically to get drunk and to escape reality like my old friend who sadly is now passed away who literally used to drink Vodka straight out of the bottle like water no mixer no beer none of that crap just straight vodka vodka doesn't even have a flavor he was drinking to get drunk

  • @nathanbond8165

    I tried many of the near beers and he's right most of them taste pretty close to beer but here's the problem and I just come out and say it I don't drink beer because I love the taste of beer I don't know anybody that loves the taste of beer I drink beer to get drunk lol to alter my reality and I can guarantee you that if you never drink the beer in your life and you drink a non-alcoholic beer you would ask yourself why and who the hell would ever drink a product like this because for the most part beer is nasty You're basically drinking wheat water

  • @nathanbond8165
    @nathanbond8165 Před 5 měsíci

    I would like to correct something you said and I've done some research on this The reason people eat on healthy food when drinking or eat. It's not necessarily because you have lost your willpower no it actually is because alcohol just like marijuana activates the part of your brain that regulates hunger so it's not that you're making a bad decision to eat pizza you are actually hungry you actually want food and if it's late at night your choices and food are going to probably limited to pizza and bar food but it's not because you just don't have willpower or you make poor decisions while drinking no it's been scientifically proven that alcohol and marijuana stimulate the part of your brain that regulates hunger so you are actually hungry when you drink or smoke pot or at least your brain believes you're hungry

    • @nathanbond8165
      @nathanbond8165 Před 5 měsíci

      I would also like to add the other effect that goes on when you are heavily drinking when people are drinking typically they're not eating when they're drinking well alcohol actually suppresses blood sugar causing you to temporarily become hypoglycemic low blood sugar this also creates the craving to eat so both alcohol stimulates the part of your brain that regulates hunger and when you drink a lot it can cause you to go into hypoglycemia which also makes you super hungry this is also the main reason why the next day when people are hung over they want to eat lots of calorically rich and fatty foods because typically the next day after a night of heavy drinking you are hypoglycemic

    I am a little over a year sober now too. I still can't drink non alcoholic beer, wine, or cocktails because it just reminds me too much of the real thing and makes me crave it. It is also kind of expensive. I choose to not drink those but quitting alcohol has been great. It took me 13 months to get back to my healthy weight after my last bender. That is how bad alcohol is for you. But, I feel a lot better now, I have more money, and I get better sleep. I also like to spend time with people instead of just isolating. AA also works for me. I go everyday.

    I was a binge drinker for 50 years. I had the will to stop drinking but there was the annoying daily craving to enjoy some beer especially after work or at gatherings. I went to my doctor and was prescribed 50mg naltrexone. Naltrexone turns off the circuit in my brain that craves alcohol and almost immediately lost the cravings allowing me to fully detox. Weight loss has been the only side effect. 30 days later, I'm back to my former self and if I want to enjoy a craft beer at the restaurant I simply take a pill an hour before. Naltrexone blocks the euphoria of alcohol but not the flavor. I'm still exploring the zero beers but haven't found one that compares to my favorite craft beers. If you're struggling to stop drinking, I recommend seeing a medical professional.
