we sang this in choir in public school in 1978 79 80 , happy giggling school kids , and we could have never foreseen that , decades later, Joni would give such a deeply heartbreaking rendition. But ever since I heard it in 2003 , I've not stopped listening to it , I have it on CD and saved on youtube . It is the very sound of one's soul grieving and body aging and a life that has passed us.

Joni is one of the real deals. My Era rocks as far as I am concerned. I was a girl when I stumbled upon you. Thank you Joni for your artistic talents. And just like Dilan and so many more, she came along at the right time for me. The anti war Era was something I understand even ad a child.
