wow
King pianist 🎉❤😊
Up there with the late Pollini. Fantastic performance note perfect
This man won the 1980 Chopin competition because he was better than Ivo Pogorelich. Let that sink in. His playing is sublime but he also beat a legend on his way to victory!
4 ballada Chopina to największe i najdoskonalsze dzieło w literaturze fortepianowej.
One of the better ones!
Son's articulation and phrasing is so original; reveals so many hidden elements
Good interpretation - this piece should be unsecured, fragile, never land on a something safe, imaginative
Lovely restful playing as if he was improvising on the spot no doubt as Frederick would have done 🎶💥😇
A bit lacking in passion in my opinion
Zzzzzz boring
Dang!
One of the finest Fourth Ballades in existence. A true revelation
Tuyệt vời
Impressionant!!
Differenzierteste Sinngebung mit Meditation.
A great interpretation but I personally prefer Zimmerman's interpretation. His interpretations of each of the ballades are just heart-wrenching. I just find it impossible to not think of Zimmerman's interpretations when mentioning any of the ballades. And also, I don't mean to hate on anyone's opinion I just wanted to share my own.
I agreed with you, Zimmerman’s Ballades are my go to version. This is wonderful too. A different sensibility, a different meditation.
This is a beautiful interpretation of Ballade #4, more poetic than most versions.
Brawo !!!

It is nice but it is not Slavic style aesthetics. It is too tepid and soft like butter. How did he ever win the Chopin prize decades ago? There's a serious question of him being on the jury while also being the piano teacher of the 2021 Chopin winner.
Love the ethno-aesthetic critique. Keep it up!
@@nathantran2353 It’s not about the capabilities of the pianos at the time of Chopin. It’s rather the palette of dynamics one has to deploy when playing any kind of repertoire. That is, for every type of fortissimo you must have a specific forte, piano, pianissimo. The problem with todays pianists is that they either play extremely loud or soft, thereby restricting themselves into a dull and bifid type of playing and confusing this with what Horowitz did. He reportedly had numerous levels of dynamics between his piano and pianissimo.
@198redone may I know when was this recorded?
like
Ive heard of many pianist’s recordings (including rubinstein, horowitz, langlang, zimerman, sunjincho, bunin...) but I think this is the best
listen to yundi li 2001
@@magikstic thank you for recommending beautiful playing of Yundi li...It was very good but I still prefer Dang Thai Son
@@user-hy6vu3sq7v fair enough. different people like different interpretations i guess
@@magiksticYou're right. And I think that even the individual's preferences are constantly changing. At first I had liked Rubinstein's interpretation very much, and then Lang Lang, and these days Dang Thai Son... Maybe someday I will like Yundi's playing. Idk haha
@@user-hy6vu3sq7v Yeah i can agree with that, but my favorite interpretation has always been yundi's. I feel that he understands chopin really well and it shows across many of the pieces he has performed
where was the applause at 9:23 lol
This was during the Chopin Competition, not the concert at Carnegie hall.
it was a joke lol
the ending was PERFECT
quite a young master....!!!!
simply beautiful!
This is a very very good performance
Mine is better... Yundi is a young soul and afraid of exposing his soul. czcams.com/video/tB2lQvUQK24/video.html&ab_channel=MichielDemarey
My first hearing of this piece was at a recital by Midori in Winston-Salem, NC when she was around 15. Quite a way to experience it for the first time. It blew me away.
This is only the 3rd and 4th movement for anyone wondering.
Thanks for the advertisement right in the middle, you idiot.
He deserved his win. And to be more famous.
@@expertinanything5462 Man for someone who is nothing you spend a lot of time on his videos lol. Salty much?
Exceptionally profound and simple
Yundi Li is a living legend. His Chopin takes excellence to a new level.
i love the way he played this piece, how he managed the time and then he slowly went through this.
