now I struggle to get my words out quite a lot. I believe there is a virus that are in some cacti and when stressed from different things like over watering too much sun not enough nutrients the virus takes advantage of when the cacti is weak so it starts to show marks like these. some plants it starts dormant. also the seedlings that had gotten a fungal infection due to the virus that's the fi...

Mt-45 works well for fungal spots
@@LoveOfcacti yea I do have some stuff for fungal treatment but I'm just waiting for it to dry up before applying. Thanks I will look into mt-45 though.
How many hours of sun do your seedlings get? And how often do you water your seedlings
@@LoveOfcacti those specific seedlings that were rotting are actually in shade constantly because of the fence between me and neighbours and the time of year. I don't water them at all unless we haven't had rain in a long time and they need it. Same with the smaller seedlings in containers. If the soil is completely dry and I know it's been dry for a while I'll give them a good soak. No real frequency. Weather is all over the place.
Hey man! I heard sp can tolerate down to 10c or 10f but if the roots get wet they have a better chance of dying do you stop watering before winter ?
@@LoveOfcacti I don't water anything in pots that are outside during winter only thing I will water in winter are smaller seedlings in containers as they will usually keep growing and can dry out quicker than pots. Well these guys are tolerating less than 6c because I know it's getting down to that temp. Even some of my smaller seedlings in containers aren't protected they are getting 6c and they are all good.
Thanks for sharing your amazing forest! Newer subsciber in awe of the density of your spikey collection, they doing well in your hands! I see you showing the cacti, your experiences, and observations is fun and helpful. I don't recall you ever mentioning but with this vast collection, do you sell cuts, seeds, or? Thanks and keep up the cool videos.
@@JamesEndo1 I sell cuts and some whole plants but I'm really in it for the genetics. So this is just the beginning for me. I wanto keep a lot of the real good genetics to cross with so don't offer a lot of those cuts unless there's a couple pups on it. Also in Sydney Australia. I will eventually sell seeds but probably not for a few years. Appreciate the comment 😁
@@CurtsCactus Understood. Good luck with your eventual move to the farm that you mentioned!
Hey mate what was the spikey boy at 27:21? I missed the name.
@@nch4352 it was grown from seeds I got from Peru so no name really.
Just what I needed! Also in Winter in SA
Taper the sides of the root stock when it dries it has a tendency to curl up and push the graft off
@@drakeweddner yea I will do it on bigger grafts but not bothered with these smaller ones they don't really reach the edge.
@@CurtsCactus i figured you knew what you were doing you have a million cacti , I just thought maybe you were brand new to grafting
@@drakeweddner well I mean I am new to grafting haha so I know I'm not doing the best way and probably should be cutting the corners but Im lazy 🦥 haha thanks.
@@CurtsCactus in my opinion the absolute easiest way to graft them is as a slab using rubber bands czcams.com/video/kWXCCzmrgZQ/video.htmlsi=OOgSWwgbM9IAobHl Your jar method was pretty cool though I'll have to try that out

I really want my C.S.D. to flower. I think a C.S.D. x bruces dragon cross would be really cool.
@@paulmaenza4041 I think a CSD x anything would be really cool haha
I agree, I’ve had much better success keeping girth and size with mid cuts over top cuts. All of my tip cuts have etiolated
thanks for the video so interesting!
I have some cuttings rooting at the moment. I planted them really shallow… kinda wannna check if they’ve rooted but I don’t wanna disturb them either. I’ve got a bridge, standard pach, and a ‘blue pach’ (super blue and very short spines)
@@uraninite8151 i check all the time. Just give it a light pull and if it seems attached then you know it's rooted. But just gently pull them up to look and gently place back down. Worse case is you snap a root when placing it back down.
@@CurtsCactus I’ll give it a try
@@CurtsCactuswell I checked. No roots just mold? I’m quite surprised since I used a lot of perlite, have been barely watering (few drips) and I used fabric pots. I might move them outside but I’m worried about the cold and too much sun. Any advice?
@@uraninite8151 ah see this is another reason why I do check in case it's rotting or anything. Mold doesn't worry me too much as long as the base isn't going soft. And I would generally have the cut completely dry before placing it on your medium. And wouldn't start watering it even with a couple drops untill I think it's getting real close to roots. If your worried about the cold you must be in winter? If so don't even bother looking for roots haha takes a lot longer in winter than summer. As soon as spring comes around they will probably pop out then. Maybe let the callous dry again and then prop it up same position and you just gotta wait longer. I've had cuts root in 3 weeks ive also had cuts root in 6 months its just variable factors.
@@CurtsCactus thanks man. Yeah it is winter. They all seemed calloused but I’ll let them dry again just to be sure
lol, your “unfly” duckling
It's a survivor! A beautiful one. I was just posting about some of my pups. One is supposed to be santenisis
Great video this my second time watching it.

@CurtsCactus SC ,USA are you in the states as well?? I'm interested in those your willing to get rid of Cacti are awesome very hardy only thing I've seen them not come back from is root rot if it get to deep

I've been growing sans for awhile now and noticed that every.time there's yellowing on the top it's NEW growth coming in simply.by measurement 2months after.the yellowish green started on the top there was a 2inch growth difference

How do you avoid sun burn when keeping them outside? I live in South Africa so we have a lot of sun. Your cacti are really impressive. Any tips on growth rate and increasing how blue they are?
@@uraninite8151 so if your cacti are grown in shade and immediately put into full sun they will burn. So they need to get use to full sun gradually increasing the amount of sun they get. Some days in summer it's just extremely hot and sunny and I cannot avoid the sunburn so it does happen but you just need them to get use to it. Also afternoon sun will burn more than morning sun so if you can get all morning sun and give them shade in the early afternoon that would be better. Even once they are use to a lot of sun if they are yellow it's too much sun and they won't get much blue. Too much shade and they will grow skinny. So you need inbetween I try to give them as much sun as possible before it becomes a negative. Also the blue is genetic so some will never get blue on them. Hope I've explained it as best as I can haha. Any more questions feel free to ask again.
@@CurtsCactus Thanks that’s a perfect explanation. Cheers
Damnnn, you have an awesome collection! Keep it up
How do you feed insect frass? Top dressing? Frass tea? I raise millworms for the chickens. I have an endless supply of frass… thanks..
@@shampton68 I throw it on top each year as top dressing and water in with gogo juice or any fertiliser really just so it sets it into the soil and doesn't blow away. And over time it breaks down pretty much gives them a feed every time it rains after that. But I also put it in my soil mix. But you could definitely do the tea I just have never done it. Would be a great liquid fertiliser
So does TBM flower?
@@huntintrailmetals9343 they will do eventually though mine have never flowered. It's like the CSD clone hadn't flowered for anyone in years and someone recently just got flowers. People were saying it couldn't flower.
Really man, Great collection!
Love these walk around vids. Cheers for the upload!
Beautiful collection
My pach x peru hybrids are looking kinda wrinkly and not as firm after a week or more of very high humidity and heat (38C) ; tons of rain recently. Is this normal? Kinda bummed
Sounds like stress. They will be fine you just gotta let them recover. If the soil is completely dry give them water. If it's wet then they probably need to dry out
@CurtsCactus okay will do!
They look like normal after a few days of shade @CurtsCactus
I'm currently growing seedlings for the first time (so I'm sure you know more than me) and looking into transferring to larger pots soon. Have you had any experience with terracotta pots? From my research, it seems to allow for the soil to fully dry between waterings and reduces fungal growth.
Yea I don't use them personally because when they do dry out you will have to water more often, which is fine when it's just a small collection but when it starts to get too many your watering every day in summer for at least an hour so maybe if you are in a wet area then for sure give terracotta a go.
All mine go funky in the winter too 🌵🌵🤡🌵
Awsome collection, all your tricho’s are straight and well kept. Nice job!
great work. Love it
The new walk around 5 bitches! Thanks for the video mate..

if the crest has mealys isolate the pot and check the drainage holes if they are living in the soil you may have to replace the soil i don't know if you have that type of mealy and nip the problem in the butt last thing we want is witches broom☠. you know what your doing but i have PTSD from mealys 😅
That's a lot of cac ❤
Camera work of a 5 year old. What a waste of time and place.
Hahahaha glad I wasted your time. You'll never get that back. It's all mine now. 😁👍😘
Hi! I've REALLY been enjoying ur vids! I discovered u just a few weeks ago,, keep up the good work!! So, maybe you have already explained this in a past vid or comment, but What makes u think it's Viral & not Bacterial?? Seems like especially the way they r Not spreading, like. A viral usually would. I wonder how that can compare to bacterial?? The little bit I've read up on, With bacteria, it definitely CAN be spread as Plants get bacteria from insects, attacking the host plant, they can get it during the vegetative process of seeds, They can get it from soil (Google said they r "Soil Invaders") their nutrition, even rain water! But it will generally attack the soil, seeds & water & then most commonly attacking the lower parts of the plant, one site read. Now, idk where Cacti falls into that whole slew but I even saw that WE carry bacteria & WE can pass it onto the plants Also just by handling them!!! There are a bazillion types of bacteria so forget it if u end up trying to figure out the Exact one, just like if it's viral. Just another 2 cents for all ponder on!!! Good luck with figuring it out for all of us!!! Cuz I surely got a few cactus idk wth is going on with them as well!! Joy!!! 🌵😊 Sincerely, Anita 😊
Well now you've said that and I did a quick research I've got no idea whether it could be one or the other And I have kind of given up on finding out exactly what it is due to the most likely remedy for all of these issues is focusing on soil health and positioning I also do not have the brainpower to work these things out haha but I wanto bring them to light so we can all work it out together but yea my conclusion is if you focus on soil health and positioning you shouldn't have to deal with these problems. Also the reason why I thought it was viral is because a lot of the time the community would use the word viral so that's just what was my first thought and thinking viral is what spreads and not looking too much into bacterial. The stuff I have shown (yellowing) that has definitely spread I never had it until one year and it popped up on quite a few of my cacti but it never really gets much worse than those yellowing marks. Genuinely appreciate your comment! We all need to communicate as much as possible in a constructive way 😁 also really appreciate you watching my vids and thanks for the nice words! 😁
Thanks for doing this so that we don’t have to haha! Truly should be very educational to see. I really appreciate it
No problem! Haha hopefully I can follow through with it all
Nice videos bro. Im a cactus collector from the deep south of nz so plenty of fungal issues ive had to deal with. Humidity is a killer in the colder months, get a lot of rot and rust. Keep those vids going
Yea damn must be hard for you I understand the struggle of having an outbreak and it just feels like it's spreading everywhere. Focus on the minerals. Lots of drainage and good accessible nutrients. Appreciate the comment 👍
that CSD is Loovely
what is the cross at 5:10? i have a HZ x Zelly22 that is starting to do a very similar mutation
