Hi Berry, Every province have their own accent. Or the tone you said were correct they were just from Vientine or southern Laos. People from southern lives or Pakese, the word would spelled with the D sound but they pronounced it with the L sound. It’s just the accent is different in every province unless they are from the hill tribes then they have their own dialogue.

So what happened at the boarder? Must’ve been atleast $10 a day overstay…maybe haggled down to $100. Yes the Cambodian side rip off Visa Runners unfortunately because they know you don’t have any other options. That should’ve cost you about $70. Then your Visa back into Laos $40. Plus tuk tuk and private boat…350,000 ($17). I think about $230? I notice all that information is missing from the video. But yes if you live in the North then doing a Visa run to Cambodia is the most expensive. Transport, accommodation, food, visa costs etc probably cost over $400. Surprised you didn’t pay for a single entry visa at the Thai consulate in Vientiane. Also that French chap! Classic. He’s never lived on Don Det. Shows how quickly a tourist can become a tour guide and make up stories 😂

*typo* Bait in Lao is spelt ເຫຍື່ອ. Spent hours trying to figure things out on this one and not quite satisfied, but let’s go for it. The Lao script still has the tone markers overlapping the vowels on top. Writing Lao with the English alphabet doesn’t work, which is why I incorporate some IPA, but feels like a mess to me so I’d encourage you to learn to associate the sounds with the Lao alphabet right away.
