SandevBonsai 2019 - Hmmmm...a strange one
zhlédnutí 6KPřed 4 lety
This is an unusual tree. Very wide, against all even most further bonsai rules and understanding...nevertheless, because of that I like it even more. This is some of the most interesting raw material I ever had. Something to enjoy for all bonsai lunatics :)

SandevBonsai 2019 - New material - Promising Prunus cerasifera
zhlédnutí 7KPřed 4 lety
Analyzing new material...a very good Prunus. Not yet been styled...just basic field cuts. Very promising material. Walter Pall shares his wisdom.
SandevBonsai 2019 - A special small huge tree with a great future of a champion
zhlédnutí 4,1KPřed 4 lety
Walter Pall talks about a special small tree of a high potential quality of a Champ. I believe he likes it. And when Walter likes something, then you know it's very good. He has seen it all.
SandevBonsai 2019 - Creature from the woods
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 4 lety
Almost penjing style, looks like a stone, or a rock with many trees growing on it. But it's alive. This is really a live organism. Very very old. Hard to guess. Like it very much. The crown is just a start of the future crown. The tree still needs a few years.
SandevBonsai 2019 - That's how it started and changed everything
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 4 lety
Walter Pall remembers one of the first 'strange' trees that looked like nothing else before...more like some creature from the woods. And we liked that...and that is how the story goes....
SandevBonsai 2019 - Walter Pall about more or less classical middle sized hornbeam

Carpinus orientalis more or less finished project. It has been in training for 10 years. This could easily be a final pot. Already very dense with a completed crown. Just details remain to finalise.
SandevBonsai 2019 - Prunus mume in Walter Pall's eyes

See Walter Palls commentary on this very old japanese apricot, Prunus mume, now a part of my collection. We have been discussing different options.
SandevBonsai - A new one / Carpinus
zhlédnutí 4,7KPřed 5 lety
This is a new one. After basic cuts were made last year it is time to start constructing branches and crown. Beginning of crown construction is always problematic...you never know where and how the trunk and movement of the tree will lead you. Huge carpinus...this one has cca 80kg with the pot It is relatively new in construction process...only second season of basic crow architecture Now...the things will be somewhat faster. This spring the tree was repotted in this pot which I hardly found thanks to Walter...so because of recent repotting was a little slower to grow. I plan to reproduce the crown in a three to five years.

i were watching your videos so often :-) now i have my own hornbeam. sebastian (or even walter) - tress is perfect for stling - but when to do first stling now? now is almoast may. rather do it in late may when first little shots harden or wait for fall? i would do in may when first years growth hardens and then do hard cuts and style. do you agree? hope for your answear :-) really like your work but hve too few time to go to wotkshops. like raer to use my time for my trees :-) best regards Robert

I do like the more natural style, instead of the “artificial “ style. The fairytale tree is a step beyond that. It really triggers the imagination. I think children wouldn’t have a problem with it. I think it’s beautiful too.

„They are getting something else“….“fairy tale“ bonsais…we never must forget that a tree made into bonsai is a „tortured“ one, fighting for survival and struggling for its wildness, it is a symbol for life à la Hemingway. I think, getting something else means getting a SOUL.

I like your (ancient ) Western view on bonsai that is inherent to our original culture. The concept of wildness is a expression of freedom and authenticity that has its own ideal of esthetic. Many philosophical life lessons through bonsai, through you, many thanks! P.S. What I never can understand why crooked trees are more cultivated in Japanese bonsai meanwhile the crooked is considered as evil in Shinto. Any thoughts on that?
