Quick Inshore slam
Finally got a chance to get backout fishing. Although it was HOT was well worth it.
Left out of Matlacha Community park way before dawn and ran around Bokeelia into Pine Island Sound. I left early enough that it was still dark when i finally arrived at my spot. Fished a little set of Mangroves that was surrounded by oyster bars close to deeper water.
Got the red and Snook on the Moonwalker SBD by Salt Strong. Moved to an area that I knew held Trout and one cast with the Polk county Tweaker, Slam Shady color was al it took to lock in the inshore slam.
Goofed off with the white bait and landed a few more trout as well as some Lady fish and cat fish....just a Jack away form the trash can slam.

    I have a newbie question please. Is the water that pees out of the little hole on the side just to indicate that the cooling system is working, or is that actually the entire output of the cooling circuit? Also, does it flow even if the thermostat is closed because the engine is cold? I'm halfway through doing the job, waiting on parts, and I couldn't see anywhere else the water could escape (but I am new to outboard maintenance) thanks. Simon.

    • @residentdawgfishing5424
      @residentdawgfishing5424 Před 2 měsíci

      the peeing is the water exiting from the system, if you hook it up and run it it will start cold then warm up as the engine does. if your outboard is not peeing there might be something clogging the pee tube, use heavy mono to try and unblock it, The thermostat directs it to the area that needs to be cooled, if the thermostat is closed it simply by passes the heads and exits out the pee tube,

    I'm having major issues with my spotlock on the Ultrex. The foot pedal is also giving me fits. They are going to repair it under warranty but I'm waiting until my major season is over. Mine is not a voltage issue. I recommend going to a 36v lifepo4 battery. I did it 2 years ago and took about 150 pounds out of my boat. Can't tell you how much better it is than my old setup with 3 12v lead acid batteries and moving that single 30 pound battery beats heck out of those lead acid. I also found that all the newer fish finder units are very voltage sensitive. I went to a dedicated 50ah lifepo4 battery for all 3 and haven't had a single issue like I was having using my cranking battery. I'll be in Clewiston next week for 10 days fishing Okeechobee. Good to know about that place in Ft Myers because Ckewiston doesn't have much.

I have an older 21 ft bass boat that came with a 24v trolling motor. I added another battery at 60 pounds and Minn Kota Talon anchors at around 50# each. That extra weight made it very difficult to get on plane when I had a fishing buddy. Changing the battery solved that issue by removing 150# or so. I paid $950 for the battery 2 years ago. I went with the 40AH battery and have never run it down below 40% during a full day of fishing Okeechobee and I have never had any issues with my battery. We aso fish heavy river current on the Chattahoochee and it has been flawless. My buddy went with Ionic 50AH and he is having some issues with it charging fully.

    Great to see the 226 offshore, looks like a good time with family. I am looking to purchase one but torn between the bay boat and a deeper V. How does the boat handle in rough water and offshore? Would you want to take it offshore regularity in SW FL, or get a center console instead? Thank you, keep the videos coming. Scott.

    • @residentdawgfishing5424
      @residentdawgfishing5424 Před 5 měsíci

      It handles rough water well, but again that also comes down to the Captain. Deep V versus bay Boat, that decision comes down to the style of fishing you enjoy. If offshore bottom fishing or trolling is your game than a Deep V is the way to go, much more " capable" offshore. But if you like fishing inshore and occasionally going off shore that bay boat is the ticket. Going offshore in a single engine boat is always a risk, I make sure I stay within the towing range of my on water towing service insurance. I would take it offshore frequently with out batting an eye. IMO the Cayman 246 is the perfect boat for this area, still a single engine, but big/Heavy enough to handle running offshore like a deep v but still only drafts 12" for inshore. Hope this helps.

    I just realized that you don't keep fish so you spend all that money and time it bothers me to see so called fisherman not fulfilling the duties of a true fisherman

      I do keep fish on occasion. I am not a chef by any stretch of the imagination. So not sure how a "catch and cook" would go....lol. I do LOVE a nice blackened snapper taco.....I will put that on the list of videos to film. Thanks

    So we bought a 2020 Pacifica and immediately had transmission problems I got to change the oil the drain plug is practically welded on there and can’t get it off no matter what I try. Took the old filter out and there’s no o ring on there and I open the new pack and no or ing in the new pack. What else can go wrong 😂. But any ideas on getting a stuck drain plug off? Thanks.

      Please pardon my delay in responding, I hope you got the stuck plug sorted out. I am less than a shade tree mechanic if you know what I mean, just handy enough to do basic maintenance. If a long handle wrench dose no work, ,maybe an impact, beyond that, good old heat usually dose the trick, but on an oil pan....that would scare me.

    I just put 5/20 valvoline synthetic in my pacifica and can't believe how quiet and smooth it runs. I live in so cal so i will never use a zero weight oil. Cold here is 40 degrees.

    How do you like the Robalo?

      I absolutely love the Robalo Cayman, don't know if I will ever switch, the fishability and also being family friendly is awesome. Add to that she floats in 12 inches being 22' is a huge plus as I fish alot of area that is very shallow. One day I will up grade to the 246, 24' bay boat that still drafts 12 inches....cant beat em in my eyes. My only complaint, if you can call it that is I wish I had the 250, not for top end speed but a better hole shot.

    Sir love your enthusiasm, however posting actual physical locations will only ensure they are covered up with boats pressuring an already pressured fishery….plus adds zero value unless your a spot moocher….giving away stuff for free, people don’t respect it, let them earn their locations.

      I do understand you point, however most of the "spots" I fish aren't any secret. I use to be a "spot" fisherman until I got to understand how tides, wind, water temps ect. affect where the fish will be. I have been back to spots where one day it was a slammer and the very next day NADA. If you don't know how to "read" the water spots will only get you so far and probably frustrated. I got a lot of help when I started, If I can help someone else get on the fish, well that is a bonus for me.
