Apart from All things... George has been plagued with the worst album covers imaginable. Everyone makes me cringe. For example, what is Harrison doing on an American road roaster car? Is he writing Hillbilly music? Why is his face picture placed on a background that screams absolute wrong color choices? Why is there an album of HITS that is so dark blue and black that you'd think he was about to commit suicide? Where is there extra texture on an orange album? And on it goes. Everyone is God-awful, and you would think there was an artistic conspiracy against George. But maybe... just maybe... he had a hand in doing the artwork. In which case, he should stick to music and hire a professional.

Question: When tape is dirty with dust, mold, or other particulates, why not clean it before running it through the magnetic head? How about a little contraption with pieces of felt or something else that's soft to scrub the most stuff out before it goes into the take up reel? maybe something that can be cycled and cleaned while the tape is running through so that the dirty doesn't scratch it. Just brainstorming here, but even though my experience with tape is limited to cheap tapes and decks in the 90s as a child and a teenager, it always stuck out to me that nobody seemed to care about cleaning the actual tape. Is there any reason for this?

24:23 you could use your fingernail or something to keep the bent plate from rising to contact the tape. Allowing it to speed up exponentially increases the energies involved in that scraping.

Fuck all the official releases,the bootleg version sounds much better,the 2016 remix sounds like shit ,raised the treble so much ,it brought out too much crowd noise

The tape he's talking about is Ampex studio tapes from the 80s and 90s that developed sticky shed syndrome, from breakdown in the tape media. This will foul the heads and transport in less than 30 seconds and cause the machine to shudder and stop. The heads completely fouled unable to play or record.. And all the tensioner arms and guides completely fouled as well with a sticky tape residue that literally freezes the tape in the transport. The only solution with these is to bake them at a low temperature in the oven 4 hours... Then cover the transport and the tape itself was liberal amounts of stable plastic safe silicone... And also continuously baste The tape with it as it goes by... This is the only way I found to actually play the tape to make a single transfer so it can be sent to and used in the digital realm.

Early Beatles are so electric and alive. Always preferred early Beatles.

For me, ATLP60BT was my first turn table and it was so wonderful. It was really easy to use. The best part is auto return. I currently have technics 1200 GR with auto lift mechanism installed and I really don’t need to buy any more turntables but I will always miss that auto return….. and yes I actually sometimes miss the Bluetooth connectivity as well, I’m not kidding. It helped me detect how bad some of my Beatles LPs sounded up close with my headphones while I was busy cleaning up the house doing laundry (far away from my wonderful listening room). This turntable in this video looks very good. It looks like it has counterweight, anti skate and it looks upgradable but I get a little scared when people drop their stylus on the record with their hand like that (because that’s exactly how I scratched my record and it still hurts), instead of just shutting down the lever letting the stylus fall gently.

Hard to pick a favorite but Rubber Soul (US version) remains my favorite going back to its release. It was a very folky scene in America at that time (can't be overstated) and it was a cozy album for the Christmas season and no cover songs! It was quite warm and elegant sounding, not unlike the concurrent singles, "We Can Work It Out" and "Daytripper". I definitely recall the first time putting it on and hearing for the first time, studying the beautiful cover and back notes. Michelle, It's Only Love, Girl, In My Life in that order was a nice sequence. It came out at a great time. Drugs hadn't quite become public 'knowledge' but in a few months...things started getting rocky, some controversies erupted, the insane world tour and the end of concerts, just about the time Revolver came out. After that album the mop top thing was done.

I want the sound remix quality of Its all too much with the movie verse AND the other verse. That quality is the best

The whole should have been cleaned before loading but that would have cost even more ££££. I am sure this work might have cost a good amount of ££££.

My favorite is the 1963 era. I don’t like the new remix of any of the Beatles. It’s too fat, negating the trebly magic.

Being a Fan and a Musician I am on the fence about this subject. To a fan, (as a musician) you are aware that the artist only intends you to hear their finished product. This includes the final version of the song only, including the overdubs, And, that certain mix. THE version we hear in Our heads. The work in progress (unless the intention like "Let it Be") is like the painting half way thru. YOU want to see the finished painting right? It's not supposed to be up to you, it's up to us; so releasing the songs any other way is not acceptable. As a fan I like alternate takes maybe, (not all 30) or unreleased Finished tracks, or unreleased song demos. This however, should be left up to the Artist, and No One else. That stuff (To me) is like reading someone else's Diary. It just shouldn't be done. Love the channel. Thanks for doing the work.

I think Mind Games, Walls and Bridges, Double Fantasy and Plastic Ono Band (one of the best albums ever) are all underrated and underappreciated. If you listen to them looking for Beatles songs, you´re gonna be disappointed. But if you treat them like any other album by any other artist, not a Beatle, you might really enjoy them.

I Know (I know) is more likely to be about Paul than Yoko, not only does the intro rip off I’ve Got A Feeling, but also references many Paul song titles or lyrics. The song reads like an apology to Paul and timing corresponds with them both growing closer. This is one of Lennon’s most interesting solo songs.

I never skip tracks when listening to an album. If I had to choose a least favourite it would be "Why Don't We Do It In The Road". I'm also less keen on either of the Honey Pie tracks or Rocky Raccoon from the White Album. I Want You (She's So Heavy), Within You Without You and Oh Darling I wouldn't put on a Playlist. I know I'm in a very small minority, but I would put Love Me Do in a least favourite Top 10 if forced to choose 10. I don't dislike it, it just feels a bit of an album filler rather than a debut single.

Lennon talks about the Reggae influences in this song. Boy, its pretty subtle. The mix and instrumentation have to shift a lot more than it did in order to pull it off. Or maybe he was going for subtlety? It's still an interesting song 50 years later. There's something to be said for that...

say what you want, but having the music on such delicate things like these tape wheels, makes it much more precious to me! All music should be on tape only, and if you want to listen to it, you have to deal with the delicate nature of it. Nowadays for a lot of people , music is a background throw away thing!

There's something special about the analog recording, editing and playback process that digital production is just missing. You actually moved your entire body to manipulate the tape, tweek and clean the heads, punch the buttons, clamp on the reels and so on. Digital is a lot of mouse clips. Not very sexy.

I only listened to their hits album, which was loaded with gems, but the video comments have piqued my curiosity to belatedly dig into the vault of their albums.

I don't care for McCartney's arrangement. I've heard other non-Beatle arrangements that sound exquisite. The version with the telephone ringing at the beginning is perhaps the best.

I would like to see a Capitol Records compact disc set volume three with dedicated American Master tapes Yesterday and today. Revolver. Magical Mystery Tour. Hey Jude. Now I know that three of these are on the newer Capitol Records 13 disc box set but they are not using the United States Master tapes. And they can do another box set after this with the Hollywood Bowl Rarities 20 Greatest Hits and real music. And maybe before this box set Fox 5 could be rock and roll music and love songs
