My current project, which uses an ESP32, is a Domestic Hot Water Controller. It has temperature sensors which monitor the water in a hot water cylinder that has a heat exchange coil, and the temperature of a solar array. It then controls a circulation pump to transfer the heat from the solar array to the hot water cylinder. It also controls an electric immersion heater as a backup when there is insufficient sunshine. I used an ESP32 so that I could send temperature readings to a web page enabling me to monitor the system on my phone. It also has a "holiday mode" which prevents it using the electric heater whenever I'm away on vacation. The ESP23 connects to a time server so that it knows the date/time and switches back to normal mode the day I come back.

Try streaming the data with ESP-now.

Project. I'm building a weather station. 2 units. One sits outside. With a few sensors. The other inside. The two connect via ESP Now. That dev board would make an ideal home base station to display the relevant information.

Stupid idea. Retro PC! At 240Mhz. That is Pentium 1 speed. Agon Light uses an ESP32 as a video card. So I wonder if an S3 could run as a 200Mhz Pentium ( window 98? ). Core 2 as the video driver.. Or. Just a second ESP32! Usb 1.1 is plenty fast enough for a USB keyboard and mouse. Large SD card as a hard drive. Just needs a sound card ( another esp32? ) and you have the hardware needed for a retro PC. Anyone fancy coding a Bios and firmware? Lol

At some point it makes more sense to just buy a Big TV instead of an LED Wall😅

What is the resolution of the each frame that is being sent to the esp maybe you can do some form of compression or reduce the resolution before sending it if you haven't tried that already

This would be awesome for my stationary bike monitoring system I wanted a data collecting device to run train an ML model on cloud now I can use this to make that as well make a little fun game maybe on the screen to make cycling a bit more fun xD

Like seeing the extra "functionality" on the 3d printer. basic and works. general question on processros and such, have you considered to use older cellphones and repurpose them for the computing power for projects? Have a few and not sure who to use them (and seeing how poerful they are with all the functionality (wifi/usb/etc compute and integrated power. any pointers would be appricated.

Can i Power my esp32 With 5v 30a?

I have 4 8x32 matix panels and they are wifi and also on my PC I have Signal RGB which sees them and all my lights in and out of the PC run in sync...can also mirror PC screen

In order to make the gaps disappear between the tiles: Make the outer grid walls only 45 % of the inner ones (maybe even 40 %) so the edges move closer together. (Maybe you need to sand off a bit of the panels too) Instinctively, you might choose 50 %, but given, than no clipping together will make the effect disappear completely, you might need to experiment a bit with the amount.

What about window screen / shade cloth?

Hey, I've been designing PCBs for 30 yrs and there's always some screw up. Don't sweat it. Fortunately, PCB production cost has dropped to near zero and companies like JLC make it so easy. I also don't mind you using the auto router for circuits at your designs' speeds. Keep up the great work on this awesome project. The stuff you're learning here, and showing us, will help with all your future projects. Thanks for the video.

One rule of thumb for video walls: the optimal viewing distance is roughly the millimeter LED spacing switched to meters. A 5mm pixel spacing is best viewed from 5 Meters or more. Super cheap Hub75 panel LED spacing as low as 1.87mm are available (for less than 1 cent an LED)

Looks fantastic! And I'd love to see some retro console emulation on it once completed (I was thinking GameBoy, but you could do others depending on the full resolution of the final wall).

Cool project. I want to make one similar at some point. For the diffuser, get some clear acrylic or plexiglass and run an orbital sander with 480 or finer grid thru one of the surfaces.

So I have had great success with a similar project with LED Matrix panels with HUB75 connectors and using hzeller/rpi-rgb-led-matrix on a raspberry pi 4 and some openCV to consume a NDI stream and output it via the library. Might be worth it to check that out!

I whould like to see your reasons of chosing ESP for this project. Foe rxample, when I started a bit of similar project (unfortunatelly it took no significant traction online), I had ARM, STM and Raspbery as main options and ESP caught my attention later, when main features of the project was mostly designed. But I desided to still use STM32 as it had the most nomber of pins to arrange LEDs in parallel getting faster FPS, and also there was a lot of pins left to add most of extra functionality and expandability

Cool project. One note: Leaving that much wire exposed like in 3:56 when there are several amps of current going through it is not a good idea.

Looks great! The auto vinyl is a great option and for removing the grid lines it should be as simple as making sure to only print 2/4 of the edges (with exceptions for tiles on the edge of the entire wall). I'm a Bottom-Left edge kind of guy. I do think printing the actual tiles in a different color may help as well. Black give a bit of a screen-door effect, and white might be too reflective. Perhaps experiment with some differing colors? A shade of gray might end with the best results. Can't wait to see the results!

why are people not using cat5/6 ethernet cable for the signals. jailpcb, ie forced human labour, for money's payment sake.

Really is a homemade video wall. Next youll be cloning the carbon cb5s. My favourite video wall if anyone is wondering.

If you increase the brightness just slightly on the pixels on the edges that connect to other tiles it will help camouflage the gaps. That's what video wall displays do. I really like this project and it looks great. It's super weird that we are now to the point where it's hard to justify projects like this when we can buy screens this size that will probably cost less money in the end. Obviously, that isn't the point, but my frugal side keeps screaming at me when I start considering it.

I uploaded the reciever code in the esp and then took new esp and uploaded the source code, and when i connect to power first i see white light comes on followed by purple light only, it stays on purple light, i dont see any series of different color light as it is shown in video, and when i connect in lmcshd, my screen does not mirror in my panel. I dont know what am i doing wrong
