Engine Mount Bracket Bolt | BMW E90

Bolt extraction of the aluminum bolts that hold the engine mount bracket to the engine. I was able to extract one by hand and one I had to drill out and extract with screw extraction set. This is on a 2006 BMW 330i MT. This is a common problem on the N52 engine design - passenger side. Aluminum bolts shear inside of the engine block. Shouldn't be any rust since these are aluminum, so relatively...

Good video! Couple of suggestions, always put the tire you take off under the vehicle for another layer of safety. Putting the bolts in bags and labeling them is a good idea that I normally don’t do but, will in the future. To add to it, I would add the torque specs on the bag 🙂

Hey , I plan on doing this soon and I wanted to know if unbolting the mounting bracket gave you enough room to extract the broken bolts. If not what did you have to remove or do to get t the bolts easier? I would like to know what to expect before y into this job. Thanks and please get back to me at your earliest convenience!

I did this job and also managed to destroy my centre support bearing during installation. I knackered the bearing itself by accidently tapping it. But had to drive with it that way until getting a new one. If you dont have a pipe I saw that you can actually use the other part of the drive shaft itself to push down the bearing

Loosen and remove 😢the oil filler cap and set it sideways on the hole . This allows air to enter the crankcase which makes the oil drain out a little quicker. The oil filter cap also has a torque setting. You don’t want to tighten it so much that it strips the threads as it’s plastic. I think the torque number is 18 ft lbs???

I have an exhaust leak. I think there may be a crack in one of the manifolds. I am going to soap test it first with a vacuum up the exhaust and if I can’t find it then I am going to assume it’s the gaskets. Your video is awesome. I was scared of this job before but now it looks doable. Thank you.

Incredible detail. You’re talented. Actually, from this, I’ve decided to hire this job out. There are so many hurdles, between rusty bolts, soot in your eyes, the weight of the components, inaccessibility, and me being alone and weaker/older- I’ve never seen a repair that better justifies or warrants having lift access and a buddy to help. I love your lighting and including every single step, even the mistakes that you felt that you made. This must be the problem I’m experiencing with my 2006 325xi wagon 6mt. No one has found the problem. I’ve replaced everything else! $$$. God bless. Jon
