Yet another excellent pocket knife produced by Victorinox. The Explorer is definitely one of the more unique models totally in a league of its own the edition of the magnifying glass as well as the in line Philips screwdriver make the Explorer a very versatile Swiss Army Knife. @@ssechres yea nice mate that reflective finish is very useful 👌
Very nice review, mate! But how does it compare to the huntsman bulkwise? Is the width difference big enough to justify sacrificing the woodsaw?
Cheers mate👍 I would say the width difference is so minor you barely notice it not worth sacrificing the handy Woodsaw if you have a need for it thanks for watching 🤙
The Huntsman is an additional layer, and since I carry my main SAK in my jean coin pocket, I can feel the difference. So, I usually carry the Camper, which is only three layers and has the saw instead of the scissors and no hook. Since I always have a Classic SD on my keychain, I have scissors, a file which works great as a ferro rod striker after a little 90 degree shaping. For me, this is a very pocket friendly setup with little redundancy. Oh. My Dad gave me a Climber decades ago, so it's a sentimental favorite with great functionality. It's even black like the one in this video.
I've got a Hercules and this size and shape SAK is so much better than the 91mm. The phillips drivers on mine are incredibly handy 👍 Yours is a slide lock, but looks new ?
The Hercules looks like a mint model man 👌👌 I can not find it anywhere to purchase online though 👎👎 definitely og slide lock never been used 🤙🤙 before I bought it anyway . A top light weight knife 🔪 that's for sure Victorinox seems to excel at keeping pocket tools nice and light weight 🤙🤙cheers for watching brother 👍
Great video mate and yes this is the daddy, but one thing is definitely annoying for me . The fact that the magnifying glass is housed in plastic, unlike the old Wenger models which were cased in steel. But apart from that I can’t fault it
Thanks for watching mate 🤙 this thing was next level 👌👌 initially I was sceptical of the thickness😯 That all changed when I seen how practical it is to use! Surprisingly light as well🤙🤙🤙
My favourite models are the field master and the ranger
Nice choice mate the field master is elite👌👌 I will have to check out the ranger. Cheers for watching 👍
Shedders make some good stuff. I have the old model axe and this new model as well. The new one is too thin right where your name is engraved. Compare it to an old hytest or other Tasmanian pattern. The old model snedden was way better.
They sure do man 👌 I would love to get my hands on one of the old model axes they look awesome 🤙🤙 thanks for watching mate 👍
Always a must great EDC 💯‼️
Definitely is mate has everything you need 👍👍 thanks for watching 🤙
A lot of knife guys on CZcams tend to agree that it’s very soft and needs sharpening often. Magnacut or s30v tend to be popular. Have you got an opinion on this, because vic steel has never let me down. Also lots of the worlds military’s use so it can’t be that bad
Honestly man I have never had a problem with vic steel👌 always cuts when I need it to🤙 the odd sharpen doesn't go astray for sure but i have never been bothered by the hardness of the steel. Never had one rust on me 🤙🤙🤙cheers for watching mate.
@@aussieaxedude154 thanks for coming back to me mate, I agree ☝️
@marcdee4427 No worries bud 👍
Is victorinox blade steel to soft ?
I would say not at all mate I have carried an SAK everyday day of my life since I was 12 and never noticed a soft or rolled edge, an occasional sharpen doesn't hurt though cheers for watching bud🤙🤙🤙
The climber is the perfect SAK. Scissors; tweezers; can opener and corkscrew are all essentials that I cannot be without. People often make fun of the corkscrew, but I cannot tell you how many times I’ve found myself at a dinner with a bottle of wine and no corkscrew and my Climber comes through in the clutch!
@theurbancamper5410 Great little knife indeed mate I feel like the corkscrew definitely belongs on the Climber🤙🤙🤙cheers for watching bud👍
And the new Companion have a nail file
The Climber is nearly perfect. If it had a nail file it would be.
@ironman2326 Cheers mate 👍 I'm not sure why Victorinox doesn't make the nail file on the back of the hook standard on all models that have the multi purpose hook. I know the Compact has such a feature. Thanks for watching 🤙
The Victorinox Traveller have a nail file o the hook
@sakisrose4632 nice man thanks for watching 🤙
The corkscrew is a must for me. I add the Tortoise Gear fire kit which is designed to go in that corkscrew. They actually work great for staring an emergency fire.
Yea nice man it is definitely handy for storing emergency fire kit 👌 Thanks for watching mate 🤙🤙
@@aussieaxedude154It probably isn't, but that looks like Mt Alexander....
This is also my EDC knife, the only place I climb is a set of stairs though.
Hahahaha nice mate it's a handy little knife that's for sure👍cheers for watching bro🤙🤙🤙
Good stuff man! Top spot and a bit of a laugh too. Cheers! 👍👍🪓
Cheers brother was good to get out bush again 🤙🤙 🪓
Nice video mate that location looks awesome 👌
Cheers for watching dude top spot indeed 👍
This channel is becoming my go to for a SAK binge. Great review bud the climber is a nice little knife. That place looked amazing keep them coming 🤙🤙
Cheers for the positive input mate was a great day out 👍👍👍
What a great spot for a knife review! Much more exciting than the kitchen bench. Your humour always makes me smile. Great knife as well!
Cheers brother🤙🤙 definitely an awesome spot and a cool little knife thanks for watching mate👍👍
Pretty special! Black scales look awesome!
Thanks brother they sure do 🤙🤙🤙
Great now I need one with black scales 😂keep it up bud 👍
Hahahaha them black scales sure do look sweet man thanks for watching 🤙
Great review, cheers
Thanks for watching mate 👍
Nice video dude I feel like the Phillips head would go better on this knife in place of the corkscrew but that's just me 😂 I bought some kangaroo salami 3 days ago it was delicious especially when fried.
Cheers mate 👍 I couldn't agree more. Hahahaha very tasty indeed bro one my favourite camp snacks🤙🤙 thanks for watching.
Number 11 - Be the Grey Man.
Absolutely mate cheers for watching 🤙🤙
Perfect quick look, good stuff man! 👍👍🪓
Cheers brother 🤙🤙 a quick little vid while axe cleaning 😁👍👍
Hat off for branching out into the shorts bud nice vid. Is that the marbles camp axe in the background??
Cheers for the positive feedback mate 👍 it's the marbles hunter's 🪓 good bit of gear. Peace out legend 👍
Good review!
Cheers for watching legend.
The Explorer is definitely a top tier SAK just imagine if it had a wood saw👌👌
The Explorer 2.0 🤔🤔🤔 thanks for watching dude.
thought of a 16 going on 17 boy going to kapooka still in the application process
Ahhhh the good old Huntsman. This pocket knife is the ultimate edc in my opinion I have carried it with me every day for the last 15 years excellent tool. 👍
Could not agree more mate the Huntsman ticks all the boxes of a good edc nice light as well cheers for watching super chief 🤙🤙🤙
Great video man!! I always thought the Explorer was an elite choice 👍 I just really wish it had the wood saw.
Thanks mate it's definitely on of my favourites. The Explorer 2.0 perhaps 🤔. Cheers for watching bro.
Lets be real this is a sweet little gun!! Nice video sir.
A treasure for sure mate hopefully Remington starts making these again 🤙 thanks for watching.
Noice!!
Thanks mate 👍
Cool collection 🪓
Cheers mate 👍
The small screwdriver is actually a 2D Phillips driver. No one catches that one.
Indeed it is man comes in very handy for Changing batteries on small gadgets 👌👌 thanks for watching dude.
Great review! I personally use the Huntsman and the Ranger because they have a great little bushcraft saw. The Ranger also has a file which is great for touching up axe heads.
Thanks mate 🤙🤙 the Huntsman is an awesome piece of gear I carry mine everywhere 👍 haven't tried out the ranger yet but have had my eye on it for quite some time. Cheers for watching bro.
Very good attention to detail in your videos mate! Better than all the other Swiss Army Knife videos I've seen :). I reckon you'd like the SwissCard Classic!!! :D
Thanks for positive feedback brother 🤙🤙 I will have to keep my eye out for the SwissCard Classic it looks pretty cool👌👌 cheers for watching mate👍👍
Interesting that Stihl used mountain ash for the handle instead the ubiquitous hickory. Cool video. Nice axe.
I thought so as well mate. I really like the feel of the mountain ash in the hand the grain is pretty cool as well. Thanks for watching dude🤙🤙
You didn't call a Gransfors 'miscellaneous', did you? haha
Hahaha never mate that was a husqvarna carpenters axe 🪓 cheers for watching
@@aussieaxedude154 Hahahaha... The paranoid part of me had to make sure. 😁 Have a good one, friend. 👍👍
Your SAK vids rock man!!! I have the Hunter in green. Great knife.
Cheers mate they are a great bit of kit that's for sure👍thanks for watching 🤙🤙
Sweet collection bud!! that cyclone is nice👌👌👌
Cheers mate she is a beauty for sure🤙
Excellent Swiss Army Knife video dude!!! like that you demonstrated the tools in the outdoor setting. The Swiss champ is awesome 👌
Thanks for watching brother 🤙🤙🤙 it is a beauty for sure 👌
Nice collection of special metal mate!
Cheers mate can't wait to do some more restorations 🤙🤙🤙
The hafts are ash, not mountain ash. They are two very distinctly different species of tree!
Thanks for watching mate however it specifically states in the Stihl catalogue that the hafts on this particular axe are made from mountain ash. Cheers.
@@aussieaxedude154 okay, I totally missed that! I haven't ever seen a Mountain Ash of any size that you could make a haft out of the wood! I wonder if the translation was fudged??
No worries mate I know it also states the 1926 hatchet and cleaving axe handles are also made from mountain ash, while an axe like the AX10 for example it states ash for the handles.👍👍
Great video! She looks like a keeper.
Thanks for watching brother she is a beauty for sure 👌👌
Nice mate! Like that cyclone 👌🪓🪓
Thanks bro its definitely my favourite🤙🤙👌
many people over 30?
