The 1980 Coral Springs Marching Colts performing at District contest at Lockhart Stadium.
He left Stranahan High School my senior year...1978 .he was actually brilliant!
Heard this on the radio a couple of years back. At first , funnily enough , I thought it was that other young Davy Jones - the one who had to change his name to Bowie .
A great song and fascinating clip. The movie poster misspelled Davy's first name.
Is that girl Nora Aunor of the Philippines?
I’m pretty sure that’s Manila.
yes- check out the IMD page- Lollipops, Roses and Talangka ( 1971)
This is so cool!!! Been a fan for 35 years and I never even heard about this until today! So cool!!
Very intense when he is staring at her though...
Such a great song
aka Lollipops, Roses & Talangka. I tried to find this on Netflix, but, they don't have it.
This is such a bizarre video ... he goes and hits on a 13year-old in front of her parents.
This was a scene in a movie - he was hired to sing at this child’s birthday party/dinner - is my understanding - it was a foreign film - India I believe.
I saw this live as a kid. Priceless.
Just as a point of reference, this was the School's first Superior rating at District Marching MPA. The begining of a tradition that is still ongoing!
Davy was always very handsome..he only got sexier with time
Any chance you have 83' and 84'? I would absolutely love to see them.
just search and you can find 1983. 1984 is on a facebook page from a camcorder. The group is called Coral Springs High School Band - The 80s!
Duane Hendon
What movie is CAPTAIN FROM CASTILE tune from? I can't find it anywhere on the Captain From Castile movie soundtrack. Thanks!
reinvestorintally it is the main title theme at the beginning of the movie mixed with other parts of the soundtrack I believe. Kind of a medley.
This is not the 1st time that "Howie Sucks" surfaced at a Monday Night Football game. This version was actually a copycat version of an earlier MNF game. It all started when a creative sign preparer created the Sign: "Howie Shot JR!" As the camera zoomed in on the sign ... the portion that read "Shot JR" dropped revealing "Howie Sucks." Dandy Don Meredith went nuts with laughter and a new tradition was born at the expense of Howard Cosell. If you'll remember, in 1980, the entire country was in the middle of a cliffhanger marketing frenzy searching for the person who shot JR Ewing. On the March 21, 1980 season finale episode of the popular TV show 'Dallas,' (episode titled "A House Divided"), JR Ewing was shot and the question "Who Shot JR?" spread like wildfire. So on a Monday Night Football game (prior to the one shown here which aired on 9/11/1980), it was posited that, perhaps it was our beloved Howard Cosell who pulled the trigger. We had to wait a little over two months later until November 21, 1980 when, on the Dallas episode entitled "Who Done It," it was revealed that it was Kristin Shepard (played by Mary Crosby) and not Howie, who actually shot JR Ewing. So yes, this clip is that of a copycat. I personally saw the MNF game referenced above that accused Howard Cosell of shooting the perennial bad guy ... JR Ewing. The sign holder must have had a portable TV alerting him to the fact that the cameras were on him, at which time the "Shot JR" portion of the sign dropped revealing "Howie Sucks!" Even though it was close to 40 years ago, I remember that I laughed so hard and long that my ribs didn't recover for a full week. Thanks for the memories!
"The sign holder must have had a portable TV alerting him to the fact that the cameras were on him, at which time the 'Shot JR' portion of the sign dropped revealing Howie Sucks!" So it was scripted
Thank you so much for posting this. This is fantastic!
Great job Colts!
Hey Scott! I remember you!. I was on the right side standing next to "Bones".
I was in there somewhere, playing the trumpet. I don't remember exactly where. Thanks for posting this.
Where was this alternative album artwork for "The Monkees Present" found? Fan made?
yes i saw it on someone's web site several years ago but i can't recall whose.
think it was actually filmed aroudn the changes era in 70 in fact due to davys hair etc
I remember this, too! What year/game was it, though...
Davy is so handsome here (◕‿◕✿)
Hi Anne- more videos up now :)
what rated is lollipops and roses and what is it about
I've never heard of this song, but it's very pretty, and Davy adds his sweet, expressive touch to it. By the way, Davy was about 25 at this time [1971]. I'd love to see the movie.
I love Davy and this song but I found it a bit creepy he was actually singing it to a little girl and winking at her. Even though he looks very young and very cute. LOL
I got the same impression too especially since he was married with 1 child and another one on the way at the time too, I believe David Pearl was managing Don Johnson at the time as well so I always thought maybe that's why Davy was also in the movie
I can see what you mean however it can also be taken quite differently .. as if he’s telling her a story...
I think it was more of a wink telling her every thing will be ok not flirting
In real life, she was actually 17 when they shot the film and 18 when the film was released. The actress's name is Nora Aunor and she is a famous Filipino actress
It’s a weird video but I didn’t find it creepy because there’s no context and Davy would would follow script notes to “sing seductively to minor girl.”
I've never seen this before! It's almost surreal... What on earth is Lollipops and Roses??
cooool
Thanx so much for this - dunno why no one's commented on it. :/
Hey Bob, it's Anne from band 81-83. Why don't you post the later vids you have? Take care!
