Very interesting theories! I hope we find out sooner rahter than later...although I suspect it won't be until this time next year :( lol

Yes! I DID see the outfits the two wore after watching this...but then there's Mrs Flood wearing Clara's jumper, perhaps that was to give The Doctor a hint? and I guess I misheard Clever Boy for That Love of Mine, so that's a second Clara hint...but i don't know! @@DFQreacts True, well, let's not forget that Romana has a propensity for dressing up and trying on different looks when she regenerates. I mean, she even dressed up as the Doctor. So trying on different outfits from various other companions as she passes the time waiting for the terror to come and to enact her plans to help the Doctor in his darkest moment might be possible. Yeah, I'm probably grasping at straws a bit, but I really would like to see Romana return (she is my favorite companion) and lead into a spin-off Whoniverse series whether I'm right or not in this theory. I can also imagine RTD having a good laugh saying, hey, dress up Mrs. Flood in an outfit worn by Romana... I'm sure that will drive fans nuts and they will never suspect the reveal that Mrs. Flood is actually Mrs. Flood all along.

I don't think the Sutekh bits were terrible. CGI, eh whatever its Doctor Who lol but I doubt Sutekh is gone forever...the Doctor wins and his enemies come back, that's the show! lol idk I definitely don't feel insulted and I know a lot more fans who don't either. But I hope next season will have a story that satisfies you!

@@DFQreacts I know a lot of fans of the classic show who think it was awful. The retcon to explain how he survived doesn't hold up to scrutiny. If you're going to bring back a classic villain, don't mess up the the story he first appeared in. An actor playing Sutekh would have been far more real and sinister, and would have actually resembled the original. Nor was he ever a god, except to the abcient Egyotians.

Davies writes awful stories, this season was dreadful for a variety of reasons, but when you mess with one of the all time best stories, enough is enough, Davies is not a good enough writer to do that. Afraid I'm joining the millions who've deserted the show.

ya that accent made me hear That Love of Mine everytime I've listened to it haha, but I've seen the jumper she was wearing, but then she was also in a Romana-esque white coat at the end, so who knows! *taps side of nose* WHO Knows.

Ohhhh Clever Boy, not Love of Mine? oooook....THAT does make a big difference! I also saw that that white coat was similar to Romana's...so her mystery is even deeper than Ruby's! Ya it felt like that reveal took the wind out of the room when it came on the screen. Just a normal Nurse. cool. lol I like how we put meaning into things, but after a whole season and the entire last episode focused on that mystery for it to just be nothing...just a bit disappointing. I feel the exact same way. People may complain about the season, but forget we had space surfing, farting aliens and pig hybrids for his first run and people LOVED it! lol I suspect we'll get more (and more episodes as well for next season). I just hope they are able to space the story out over those episodes to give us a full and satisfying end. After this season, I have faith!

Although, I've been thinking on it, after seeing a number of people calling it a "nothing" reveal like oh she's normal, thats boring- which is kinda true, buuut at the same time, as a mother myself, I can't help but feel like that's missing part of the point, that a young girl giving up her baby, an extremely difficult thing to do, for her child's safety and probably her own too, that was such an amazing act of courage and love that's something that happens every day, yes but I don't think that detracts from it, personally. In the first episode, Ruby's mom gets cast in a different light. Her adopted mom says how she'd love to give her birth mom a piece of her mind, saying how small Ruby had been. Anytime it was mentioned it was more of a "I was abandoned" narrative instead of a "I was taken to where I was safe." We see it when they open the Time Window and realize the mother is crying. She wasn't some almighty cosmic power dropping off an alien baby conspiracy story- that could've been interesting yeah.. maybe we'll see it someday lol. But in this case, I like that the 'super being' of her mother was actually a courageous girl, and we're pretty dang strong 😉 Just my thoughts on that!

Ya, and i was watching JustSoShayla's reaction to it last night and she pointed out something that I can't believe I didn't (because of how much I despise it)...Ruby was Rey 'Skywalker'. The mystery of her parentage was meaningless and she was nothing, nobody (but not to me! lol) But maybe the shorter seasons mean we don't get fully realized plots (which is disappointing), but now that he's done with Sex Education, we'll get much more of him!

I was fine and good with the entire episode, except for the Ruy Reveal, which was shit. lol Ruby was called a 'thing' and 'creature' by gods and they couldn't tell she was just a girl? The Mrs Flood thing I'm ok with not knowing as its a hook into the next season and a bigger mystery (don't drop the ball on that, RTD! lol). Overall, I was favorable to it, but I have to call BS when I see it and that reveal was. Hopefully it can be redeemed next season!

haha I just didn't assume they'd get a whole ass giraffe in a blue screen room, but here we are! And were people really doubling down on that? those pictures would HAVE to of been out when this came out! haha Ya- and I can see both sides, which makes the choice so difficult...same with part 2 lol they like to show you the reasons why these people do what they do and they make the motivations so powerful its hard to choose a side. Would Ellie have felt guilted into doing it? Racked with guilt for choosing not to? And it may not have worked and she'd just be dead...Its a tough call, but Joel made the 'dad' decision. ...and here we are at the end of our weeks long book writing sessions! haha I hope they don't end and you can find another show on here you like! but ya, after spending so many hours climbing, lifting and killing people and getting killed by people, we tend to get familiar with grunts haha!! Oh I love that! it was her role, because she brought Ellie to life, it was fitting she'd be her mother here, too! And thats so interesting, because I'm working on something right now, writing wise, and I've been doing that, little character backstories. and ya, that story was too good to not include, I'm almost surprised it wasn't in the game! I almost wish we got another episode in this season of JUST that, Ellie's mom running from the zombie and ending at the birth, but the way they incorporated it in the finale was done so well as it was! ha, that's smart. I buy that! did we know it was Marlene who recruited Riley? I couldn't remember a name being dropped, but I bet if she found out Riley knew her, it would be an easier way to get in control of Ellie again, especially if Marlene needed her for the cure. Ya all that laughter and joking was absent this episode, even as Joel was trying to lighten the mood, she knew, maybe not what type of surgery she'd have, but knew she might not make it out and she was willingly walking into that and away from Joel. And she nailed it. That bluescreen set is so wild, I can't imagine the giraffe has ever saw that much blue before! but it was a pro and knowing you could feed him shows why! (new life goal: become Nabo) I agree with Craig and Neil. She has too much optimism to be as broken as they think she is. I will watch it! I just added it to my watch later! lol but ya they have a stoic respect towards each other, they love each other, but they don't say it out loud or acknowledge it, but they know its there and strong. its almost like Scrubs using a decommissioned hospital, they had a lot of room to work with! and ya, I couldn't place it, but it was so familiar I knew it had to be from the game! And it was just so perfect for that scene. As an audience member I wanted there to be a big grand fight, but I knew that wasn't what they were going for and I just enjoyed what they gave us oh very cool! they must've gotten lucky because that was peak covid so sometimes actors had to be quarantined up to 2 weeks! glad she was able to make it safely. ya...like i said above, both made their choice for very different, but logical reasons. Joel for love and Marlene for the World...and it comes down to the world or a little girl, in that moment I don't know how anybody could make that choice. it even felt like a game when it was 3/4 behind him and all the cover fire, I don't think any other game has ever gave as much care to their project than TLoU! and very interesting and different takes. I think in the games, Ashley's version feels more right, but Bella's fits more with the tone of the show. That kinda gives a peak at how season 2's 'fun' episode is gonna go...and MAYBE the Ellie/Abby situation might have a different outcome because of that...

​@@DFQreacts Oh, I love being able to write an essay here about one of my favourite shows... After binging every behind the scenes and interview I can find, I think I annoyed my family talking too much about it. So it's nice to have an outlet haha! Now I just annoy my family talking about The Warning all the time. I actually sat back and thought about any show recommendations I could make but after remembering you've already done like 3 of my favourite shows of all time (this, Orphan Black, TGP), I get the feeling that you've probably already watched most of the shows I'd be interested in haha. I'm a little behind on Doctor Who, so I have to wait to watch those reactions. There are a couple great Canadian-made sci-fi shows, but they likely wouldn't have a large audience for reactions. Also, I love The Newsroom, amazing show but maybe not a great choice for a reaction channel. Stargate is my all-time favourite franchise but impossible to react to the entire thing (if you haven't already seen it) without a curated list of essential episodes. You've already seen Dexter. Not sure where you are in Star Wars, but Clone Wars is another amazing series but for sure requires an essential episode guide. So ya, I'm gonna have to think for any recommendations. But I'm excited to see what else you cook up. Neil said that those stories he wrote were never intended for the game audience, they were just for himself (Craig was the first person he every showed them to, I think). But I love that the story means that much to him that he did stuff like that. I really can't wait for more Last of Us cause I just think the creators (both game and show) have such respect for the audience to make sure that whatever they do, it's high quality. Yes we knew Marlene recruited Riley. Initially, Riley says "This chick ... , older than us, like 40, whatever, old." And then in the mall, Riley says "I asked Marlene if you could come with me, but she said no." Ellie asks who Marlene is and Riley says "She was the woman who recruited me." I always figured that Marlene wanted (hoped?) that she could recruit Ellie later, explain her backstory for sympathy and then exploit her inside knowledge of FEDRA. Maybe I'm cynical. I think that both Troy and Ashley brought up that thinking of what might happen (having to say good-bye to Joel in some way) was playing a part on her mood at the end, in addition to the past trauma, but I believe that Neil clarified that likely she was just lost in her own head about the trauma. Mostly the most recent stuff, but also some about Riley and Sam, the survivors guilt, all the horrible things that have happened to get her there and thinking why does she get to live. Not sure who gets the last say there, Neil or Ashley. Hard agree that Bella nailed it though. I knew it was coming and it hit me in the chest, the "oh god, Ellie is HURTING." You can't get that reaction unless you both get the subtle acting there but also setting up the character earlier and making sure we know who Ellie is. Can we just reflect on how amazingly both Bella and Pedro played that scene about the scar, how neither of them said anything and were still making us cry. I remember Bella posted some pictures of filming that scene like 2 weeks before the show even aired with a caption about how awesome and emotional this was both in-character and for her acting with Pedro. We had no idea what the scene was at the time so it didn't spoil anything. I too loved the final gunfight scene and was looking forward to it... But my excitment lasted all of 5 seconds before my heart twisted and I started having that feeling of "Are we the bad guys here?" Like Neil said, that first game is about love, and the terrible things that people will do for the people they love. I remember a fan wrote in a comment somewhere that the first game is a tragedy disguised as a story of hope. And the second game is a story of hope disguised as a tragedy. (Also, I have not played the 2nd game yet lol, I know a couple plot points so no spoilers haha). Actually they ended filming in Aug, Sept? 2022. maybe, about 6-7 months before it went to air (after 11.5 months of shooting, obscene for only 10 episodes). So most restrictions were much less than they had been at peak by the time they were filming the final episode. Craig has talked a lot about how the fundamental question in the game/show at the end is one of Utilitarianism (yay TGP!!!), what action serves the greatest benefit to the world. Both Marlene and Joel were making utilitarian arguments, it's just that to Joel, Ellie was his entire world. There's also a line from Troy about how at the end, Joel decides to light his soul on fire in order to save Ellie's. He knows he's wrong, he knows Ellie would hate what he's doing, and will hate him. And yet, he triples down on the lie so that she lives, even if she ends up hating him for it. For me, I sometimes make the argument that the FIreflies had neither the capabilities to distribute the cure (what kind of production line, storage facilities do they operate), nor the right (what are the chances they freely offer the cure to FEDRA people, or would they use the cure to start a war in the general population). Important to note that Neil and Craig have specified that these arguments don't matter when considering Joel's decision: he 100% believed the cure would work. I know it won't happen, but I really wish that Craig would use the actors to recreate the 2 big trailers for the 2nd game (the teaser shown at PS conference? where no one knew the game was in production), and the gameplay reveal with the dance scene. I think those are both some of the greatest trailers of all time, and would work in live action just as well. plus game fans would lose their damn minds about 2 seconds into the trailer. After watching Tess, Sam and Henry, Riley, David, and the "ok"... You still think don't trust that Craig will keep the most important story beats there? I have no doubt certain things will be replicated 1-for-1. They have said some things will change, veer off the original path, but I feel that they were honest when they said seasons 2-3 will follow the same spirit that season 1 did.

I know of Newsroom, mostly for that America is NOT the Greatest Country on Earth speech...SO powerful! I didn't even think of the survivor's guilt aspect...she did lose everybody, since the day she was born, and if she knew Joel lied about there being others she'd never forgive him. She could be the one to heal the world and Joel would've taken that from her...thats interesting TBH I never saw the scar, but that scene was brilliant! She asked and Joel told her. He didn't sound sad or angry about it, it just was what it was and Ellie didn't harp on it. That was Joel finally opening up to her and she knew it, I think she might have been shocked at how much he opened up in that moment. oh well I hope I didn't spoil anything big in these reactions! Is it good to prevent a cure to a world ending plague? also no lol I'd imagine with the less restrictions this time they might film faster, but who knows! ya its really hard to say who's right and who's wrong. if killing a person would save the world would you do it? probably an easy answer...but if that person was your daughter? I'd wager it'd be a more difficult if not an impossible decision. Oooooh THAT would have been a crazy alternate future for these games! (or the series) have one side have the cure and have wars fought over it...can you imagine the bio weapons that could be utilized with cordiceps? and wow, I never knew that. Joel thought the cure would work, but still chose to save her...damn. I can imagine they might do something like that for promotion. I mean it wouldnt cost much and they could do it while waiting to film, probably! lol I do think they'll maintain the 1 to 1 of the game, I just have reservations for some parts and I'm trying to stay as vague as possible in case of inadvertent spoilers lol

​@@DFQreacts Oh, The Warning are a band I think everyone who is into Rock (or any of its sub-genres) should check out. 3 early-20s sisters from Mexico that have celebrated their 10-year anniversary as a band last year, and their 4th full album comes out on Friday (Keep Me Fed). They will be the musical guest on Kimmel this Thurs (27th). I find their music is actually better live (I won't see them live until Oct when they're back in Canada, but they have hundreds of live videos on youtube). My introduction to them was their song "Evolve" performed at the VMAs last year. I much prefered SG-1 over Atlantis, I just never meshed with the show's style. I did however LOVE Universe, though I completely get why some fans did not like the first season of it. 2nd season really gets its stride going and is good enough that its cancellation was a damn shame. I have been watching FailWale's SG-1 journey from the beginning! I love seeing him get into the later seasons where the longer story arcs start getting real good. The Newsroom is a typical Aaron Sorkin show (he did West Wing, American President, Social Network, etc). The cast is excellent, writing is always excellent with him, and I feel it has the best directing of his recent projects. I'm not sure if I should say anything about Dexter: New Blood, as spoilers are killer in a series like that. I think the reboot of Dexter is dead as of last year, but I'm not sure I trust anything in the websites that 'report' on hollywood so who knows. Clone Wars definitely gets better every season. In fact, (and you can check this out) the final 4 episode arc (season 7, episodes 9-12) is the highest rated piece of Star Wars media made by Disney. One episode each of Andor and Mandalorian are in the top 6, but 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th on the list voted by fans/critics are from that arc (The siege of Mandalore). I think the final 2 episodes are usually ranked above any of the movies. Problem is they are so good because they satisfy the emotional arc of Ahsoka and Anakin (and Rex) that was built up over years of tv. I mean when it started, Ahsoka was HATED by fans. After season 7 she might be in the top 3 most loved characters in all of Star Wars. I think when Clone Wars was originally cancelled after the Disney acquisition, it was because they had completed the main arc of the story. The ending of Season 5 is worth watching the show in itself. Then, they had some leftover episodes already completed or close to, Disney let them finish and release them on Netflix (they were side stories) as Season 6. Then after Filoni had finished Rebels, his producer (I forget her name) told him they should really try to finish off his ideas for Clone Wars. He had released some of the stories and storyboards at comicons over the years but they had never really got to explain where was Ahsoka during the events of Episode 3. Clone Wars starts a few months after the 2nd prequel, and was supposed to go up to the end of the 3rd movie. So they had to explain to us what happened to Ahsoka and others, even though we know where everyone ends up (Rebels aired first, but takes place ~14 years after the 3rd movie). Crazy thing is they succeeded in giving us emotional stakes. There is a pretty good list someone made of essential episodes of Clone Wars (probably about 40% of the total episodes) so it is totally doable for personal watching, maybe reacting. I can see if I can find it again (that's how I watched it). In the same vein, if you haven't watched Rebels, I'd recommend it too. The Ahsoka series is essentially Rebels season 5 but live action. You don't need any previous knowledge to watch it, but emotionally it does add a lot. I've avoided the 2nd game because I don't have a PS4/5 lol. Waiting for it to be ported over to PC (and according to that leak from Epic it is happening?). From what little I've been unable to avoid it sounds like exactly something I would love (and be destroyed by... but that's expected for Last of Us?). I don't have a daughter, but if I was in Joel's position I know I'd do the same damn thing, knowing it was wrong. Wrong for the world, but if I didn't do that, there's no chance I can keep on going after. I know that in the podcast Neil said he loved the idea of the tendril network that Craig came up with so much that IF a 3rd game happened it might have to be in it, so maybe we get to see an evolution in society in the 3rd game that might not but c'mon has to happen. I just love watching the audience reaction to the release of the teaser for 2nd game, where no one in the auditorium was ready for it and lost their collective minds when you finally see what game it is. Not to mention that in her audition/interview with Craig over skype she made sure her guitar was visible in the background, to show him subconsciously that she could play it in the show like Ellie. Having her play that scene in the house from the teaser would be magical.

The Newsroom is a typical Aaron Sorkin show (he did West Wing, American President, Social Network, etc). The cast is excellent, writing is always excellent with him, and I feel it has the best directing of his recent projects. I'm not sure if I should say anything about Dexter: New Blood, as spoilers are killer in a series like that. I think the reboot of Dexter is dead as of last year, but I'm not sure I trust anything in the websites that 'report' on hollywood so who knows. Clone Wars definitely gets better every season. In fact, (and you can check this out) the final 4 episode arc (season 7, episodes 9-12) is the highest rated piece of Star Wars media made by Disney. One episode each of Andor and Mandalorian are in the top 6, but 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th on the list voted by fans/critics are from that arc (The siege of Mandalore). I think the final 2 episodes are usually ranked above any of the movies. Problem is they are so good because they satisfy the emotional arc of Ahsoka and Anakin (and Rex) that was built up over years of tv. I mean when it started, Ahsoka was HATED by fans. After season 7 she might be in the top 3 most loved characters in all of Star Wars. I think when Clone Wars was originally cancelled after the Disney acquisition, it was because they had completed the main arc of the story. The ending of Season 5 is worth watching the show in itself. Then, they had some leftover episodes already completed or close to, Disney let them finish and release them on Netflix (they were side stories) as Season 6. Then after Filoni had finished Rebels, his producer (I forget her name) told him they should really try to finish off his ideas for Clone Wars. He had released some of the stories and storyboards at comicons over the years but they had never really got to explain where was Ahsoka during the events of Episode 3. Clone Wars starts a few months after the 2nd prequel, and was supposed to go up to the end of the 3rd movie. So they had to explain to us what happened to Ahsoka and others, even though we know where everyone ends up (Rebels aired first, but takes place ~14 years after the 3rd movie). Crazy thing is they succeeded in giving us emotional stakes. There is a pretty good list someone made of essential episodes of Clone Wars (probably about 40% of the total episodes) so it is totally doable for personal watching, maybe reacting. I can see if I can find it again (that's how I watched it). In the same vein, if you haven't watched Rebels, I'd recommend it too. The Ahsoka series is essentially Rebels season 5 but live action. You don't need any previous knowledge to watch it, but emotionally it does add a lot. I've avoided the 2nd game because I don't have a PS4/5 lol. Waiting for it to be ported over to PC (and according to that leak from Epic it is happening?). From what little I've been unable to avoid it sounds like exactly something I would love (and be destroyed by... but that's expected for Last of Us?). I don't have a daughter, but if I was in Joel's position I know I'd do the same damn thing, knowing it was wrong. Wrong for the world, but if I didn't do that, there's no chance I can keep on going after. I know that in the podcast Neil said he loved the idea of the tendril network that Craig came up with so much that IF a 3rd game happened it might have to be in it, so maybe we get to see an evolution in society in the 3rd game that might not but c'mon has to happen. I just love watching the audience reaction to the release of the teaser for 2nd game, where no one in the auditorium was ready for it and lost their collective minds when you finally see what game it is. Not to mention that in her audition/interview with Craig over skype she made sure her guitar was visible in the background, to show him subconsciously that she could play it in the show like Ellie. Having her play that scene in the house from the teaser would be magical.

I LOVE that! And it makes me wonder if The Beast and Sutekh are possibly the same being...like a part of Sutekh, possibly? ...i dont know.

@@DFQreactsThe Fourth Doctor does state in _Pyramids of Mars_ that one of Sutekh’s many names is in fact “Satan”. That, coupled with the fact that Carla Sunday refers to the dark mass as “The Beast” in this episode, Colonel Chidozie stating that “[he is] in Hell”, and Susan Triad stating that she was in worlds with orange skies in every dream, all seems to confirm that Sutekh and the Beast/Devil are one and the same. Plus, they’re both played by the same guy.

oh wow! I DO know I've seen Pyramids of Mars, but this was over a decade ago when I was binging the classics, so I had forgotten most of it, (bad Whovian! Bad, Bad! lol) but that sounds absolutely TERRIFYING! especially for a 4 year old lol Now, I know Woolf played Sutekh, but he also voiced The Beast for 10...and Sutekh is known as The Devil and The Beast...is this the same character- or could it have been some of that power they removed from Sutekh that manifested itself as a being? I LOVE the fact that he came back! Russell T is NOT missing! *edit* That also makes me a little nervous that The Doctor will beat him quickly in the last 5 minutes, RTD has that track record!

Now, Vagonkhan in the comments made me think of something, he said Sutekh's powers were taken or something like that, I wonder if The Beast was part of his power that manifested into its own being...idk
