For me waht causes me to stop watching damp (besides techno) is that the role-play started to feel cringe. After the story got more serious people started to make their characters more serious and edgy, and honestly they were not good enough at role-playing to handle those types of role-play (but there are exceptions like tommy, techo, wilbur).

I still think the narrative is still incredibly entertaining to watch or even just hear about. Like a legendary folk tale, I think if the main story was turned into a book and edited a bit, it’d be a banger for sure! I was an avid DreamSMP watcher till the last disc stream. I think the SMP withered away once Techno unfortunately passed. I quite liked the idea of Quackity’s arch in the end, but it just felt out of place and I stopped watching. I feel terrible about how this SMP forced Tubbo and Tommy is grow up so quickly, I’m glad to see that it seems both of them are doing alright for themselves. But despite how shitty most of the popular DreamSMP creators are now, it’s hard not to look back on those good moments and appreciate what it was.

The server died after Tommy’s final disc saga battle it just got so boring and dry after that

Honestly, you can sum up why the DSMP collapsed and didn't exactly work out in hindsight into two reasons: The first being that everyone involved fell for the same pitfalls every D&D group ever falls for where inevitably people more and more can't make sessions due to irl or can't be assed or so on, and everyone just doing their own thing due to it until no one wants to show up anymore besides a few diehards because actually committing to sessions daily/weekly is harder than you think. And it was ESPECIALLY obvious during the Dream in Prison arc that irl and lack of desire to keep going hit many of the people playing. And the second, is that a lot of things hinged on Tommy needing to not be a That Guy zoomer kid that interrupted LITERALLY EVERYONE SPEAKING EVER and kept nonstop yapping for 5 seconds to always be annoying and needing to get the last word in every time. Something you notice more and more when you go back to earlier steams/videos. And I can tell you that if it wasn't for Tommy having what some would call "the funni british voice", people would have turned on Tommy entirely and the entire DSMP narrative would have collapsed way earlier than it did....or the fanbase would have forced things to a new protag inevitably. Even if those didn't happen, Techno passing away and Dream wanting to have the next season be a restart with no one remembering the past at all ensured it died off permanently because everyone else refused to continue it if it meant Techno was going to get full HE NEVER HAPPENED'd. And once Dream went full clown later on, it was over for good.

Techno was the only minecraft youtuber i cared about in smp. Mainly because i watched his content before and then see him get involved in all that. I havent watched any of the other smp vids but it was nice to see Techno get more fans from it... yeah...

I think it would have survived a year of so if Techno did not die, he has a lot of good ideas and has executed when in the latter half of the story. His death is a massive blow to an already declining server. More so, it would have been better if it was seasonal.

My perspective on the dsmp is different, because I joined after c!Dream was thrown into prison, I think around the time the red banquet happened. I never really cared about c!Tommy, c!Wilbur or Lmanburg/berg in general. I got invested in c!Dream as a antagonist, everything happening with the prison, rivalsduo and stageduo, the stories of c!Thechnoblade c!Sam and c!Quackity, even the tales from the smp, although not as much. What is considered the worse part of dsmp's history is it's entire essence to me, and I loved it. Still, it's interesting seeing people feel so much nostalgia for the earlier days. I do have to admit that Techno was a big part of the smp and his passing had definitely made a mark on it.

The dsmp was my first fandom ever and that changed me. It was my entire personality ages 12-14; it was the main thing to get me through covid. I still remember rambling about lore to my friends in middle school while we were all forced to sit 6 feet apart at the lunch table. I still remember watching the sad-ist hog hunt premiere as I was eating lunch. I still remember opening ao3 for the first time to read passerine and sobbing my eyes out when Tommy died. I still remember watching live as Wilbur got revived just two weeks before my birthday, but I kinda just lost interest as the amount of lore content decreased. Wound up falling out around the time of the Wilbur + Ranboo food truck arc and his death was the nail in the coffin to kill my interest. I have to thank it for the amount it shaped me into the person I am today. I never would have gotten into art if it weren’t for all the fanart and animatics, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still cringe at my past self. The only dsmp content I’ve consumed since freshman year was Tommy’s 2023 finale about a month before I turned 16 just to give myself closure for what was such a massive part of my life for so long. I still have a la’manbur flag acting as a curtain in my bedroom that I never had the heart to take down.

another thing i like about ish's videos are that some of these videos involve the actual creator participating, that ruins the plot as we basically already know most of the time who is winning but it also dosent allow the viewer to see the whole scene, by being a spectator, a creator can know (most) hidden plans and how different nations see each other while actually participating cuts off 80% of what you know is happening

5:40 my dude you have NO IDEA how painful it was to see the total mess of storylines in season 3 . Most of them had potential and some of them are my favorite ones IN GENERAL , but then you'd found out that wilbur didn't know about dream's prision escape unitl 40 mins before it hapenned even thou his storyline had dream as a crucial plot point and so we didn't get any conclusion to that one, technoblade wasn't able to participate as much thanks to his cancer. Tommy , tubbo and ranboo were growing channels after the pandemic so they had less time. LIKE NO ONE KNEW WHAT THE OTHER PERSON WAS DOING. like ranboo was in 3 (maybe 4) storylines. The enderwalk story line ( his own ) where probably dream was part of it the tubbo storyline , the messages about the NORTH and the wilbur and quackity story line and also probably TOTDSMP with karl AND THEY DID NOT KNOW ABOUT IT WHILE IT WAS HAPPENING . they could do anything because they had to wait for another plot point to happen , but they didn't organize properly so it AAAAAAAAAAAAA

i also agree on your take on the interaction being what made me love the story, as a watcher of dream smp from the very beginning, with all the gay interation of dream and george, its really their interaction what made me loveit in the first place. when tommy came in i loved it even more cuz you get to see this side of the cc you only really see when they interact with other cc. my most favorite stream has to be the church prime one, i really love seing them being them and having fun making jokes. from start to end ive watched the dreamsmp. even watched all the other cc streams about the different plotpoints like the bbh one, karl's timetravel stories, foolish's streams. but as time went on it didnt really seemed fun anymore, it was more of a chore. for me it was like ' if you started to watch it in the beginning, you have to watch it till the end'. i started losing my love for the dream smp. it was hard for me to think about dream smp and not thinl of how much of a chore it was to keep up with it, i even tried to forget it since i always become sad thinking about it. my dislike ablout dreamsmp overshadowed what i loved about it. but because of your video ive come to terms with it. realizing what made me dislike about dreamsmp has made me remember what i really loved about it. thank tou for your video. sorry for the shitty grammar i only know english from youtube sincve its my second language

i think Techno was one of the biggest strongest pillars of the DSMP hes why i ever watched it until cancer broke it in half with with an equally as strong sledge hammer collapsing it which intern made the DSMP that much less interesting/entertaining when Techno was THE topic of interest when it came to minecraft so to come back from that the DSMP would have to defy logic. the way i see it is Technos death sealed the fate of the DSMP.

Egg Arc was definitely the beginning of the end The entire event was essentially everyone taking their turns to make a massive twist that I barely cared about until technoblade came in and started killing people and then the entire plot was over All the other events had massive fights and a mind control war could be cool af in a lot of different ways but it took all of like 3 people and they died in seconds or ran So in short Techno MVP
