We went between Xmas and New Year, this brings back fond memories 👍 nice post 😉
Glad you enjoyed it. Did you visit other places in Iceland or just Reykjavik?
@@runningcountries not really, blue lagoon etc was closed so our trips got cancelled due to the Volcano. We intend to go back in summer in a couple of years and hire a car, so we can do as much as possible 👍
i will visit island next year
You should! Will you only stay in Reykjavik or will you also visit other parts of Iceland?
What time was it
January
Muy buenos dias en que pais es espero su respuesta saludos desde chiclayo Perú 😊
Hythe is on the south coast of England. Glad that you enjoyed the video!

Sad to see the "Evict the tourists" graffiti still on the wall. We live in a huge tourist town in the states, and it's not a sentiment we have here.
Well, I live in a town in CO that doesn’t want a lot of tourists…want the town to remain small, etc. That said, they have been inundated with retiring Texans and are mostly okay with it. I was in a place in Washington State out on the peninsula who had big signs saying ‘tourists go home!’
I loved the video. There is so much to see but you provided me with a good brief summary of the carrier. Thanks a bunch for posting.
Thanks Dan - glad that you enjoyed the video!
I plan to go there soon later this year for a vacation holiday. It looks like another cool, white, European country. 😃
Iceland is a popular place to visit. Where are you coming from @traveldude1621?
The vice mayor has done such a great job done there thanks for the video
Thanks for the video, just too fast though.
well done!!
Thank you!
Great job!!
Thank you!
Why are so many signs in English?

Was expecting more snow. A lot more snow
Seems so depressing, grey, and lifeless.
I enjoyed my time in Iceland. There is lots to see and do in Reykjavik.
One had to stay over in Reykjavik when Iceland Air was $99 each way to London or Amsterdam....Clean and boring Capital.. Everything closed at 7pm, take away food only after that...like visiting Iowa in the middle of February. AND insult to injury only 2 hotels to choose from and meters on the heaters, special coins bough from the desk to deposit, cost over 10 dollars i n '75 money to keep the room 60. Never took Iceland air again
I’m sure that a lot has changed since 1975. Iceland is a very popular tourist destination now. Where in Europe did you enjoy visiting?
The gallery is amazing and the paintings are beautiful by well-known and famous artists, but I wished that you would stand next to these paintings for a while instead of this unreasonable speed, and if you were in a hurry, at least if you had filmed a video calmly and slowly for some of these paintings, at least we would have understood something.
Glad that you enjoyed the video. Please subscribe and check back for other new videos that you might also enjoy!
I'm planning a solo trip here in April. How cold does it get, and would you say it is safe?
It was really cold in January - and felt even colder because of the wind. It should be warmer in April. Iceland is one of the safest countries in the world to visit
@@runningcountriesEin Freund von mir hat im vergangenen Jahr Island besucht. Er sagte mir, dass Island ziemlich teuer ist und wir es uns nicht leisten können. Ist Island für Ausländer sehr teuer?
@ashishkuriakose2450 - unfortunately that’s true, Iceland is one of the most expensive countries in the world. Where are you from?
very clean ,but it looks very cold!
Fascinating especially in light of the volcanic eruptions and lava damage. The flickering lights show the vulnerable electric grid.
It has to do with the shutter speed of the camera, they wouldnt' have been flickering in real life.
Velkomin allar bræður ók systra mínir í okkur heimin eystra….
…..” fregdamen frá Ísland í noreg sammála var, Niðarós var ataden ók Eirik han var jarl…….”
Is this the Iceland hood?
❤😘
What's with all those flickering lights? Must be hell for photosensitive people who live in Iceland.
OMG Its really nice and quiet you can actually hear what people are saying as theyre walking
How quiet and peaceful it is here! How few people and cars! Thank you for a pleasant walk
Thank you! Glad that you enjoyed the video
Thank you that you took the time and parience to video the area. Although out time in Reykjavik is very limited, because of your video we know what to expect. Sincerely grateful.
Thank you, glad that you enjoyed the video!
Sad.
Wonderful walking tour. I haven't been there since 1978
I’m sure that it must have changed a lot since then. What was it like when you were there?
A European town that hasn't been bombed ! and it has a fish and chip shop.... I am a haddock man..not cod..
The fish and chips in Iceland are delicious! They are the best that I’ve ever had!
@@runningcountries I lived in yorkshire for 59 years where I ate Icelandic haddock straight off the boat.. Battered and deep fried in beef dripping... I am not a fan of cod. When I worked in Leeds I ate Icelandic haddock every day for 18 months. Now I live inthe US (Wisconsin), and the only fish I have found that is in the same class was in Portsmouth New Hampshire at a 'British pub' which has since closed... I will fly to Yorkshire this spring just for the fish and chips....though I will tell my UK family that I am there to see them. The batter should be only flour and water and a pinch pf salt..NOT breaded. Here on the great lakes, they eat PERCH which is a 'coarse' fish in England and nobody would eat that. It's ok as field fertilizer!
Interesting! I haven’t had much freshwater fish. Does perch have a lot of bones? How do they serve it? Is it poached?
@@runningcountries I have never (never will) eaten perch (A boney coarse fish), but all these Wisconsinites rave about it, especially the ones from the South of the US who eat anything ... I actually spend $4,000 just to fly to Yorkshire twice a year for fresh Icelandic haddock cooked Yorkshire style... Flour and water batter, deep fried in beef dripping. In Canada I was told (in an ersatz 'British' fish shop), that dripping is ILLEGAL in Canada and they cook it in used Chinese oil ! Yorkshire gets it's Icelandic fish in ice but not frozen... ps London fish and chips are mostly cod and are rubbish... Cod flesh is full of worms and fish shops put them in fresh water overnight until the worms come out. I can't get to Yorkshire right now coz her bloody cat is terminally ill.... Drat !
Nice to see so many people on the street and not so many vehicles.
I've visited Iceland years ago, it's great to say you visited once but couldn't go again. Definitely got a beautiful Scandinavian look to it, of course. I'm English though and much prefer old British architecture and especially the old English countrysides style. Victorian and Tudor are my faves & these Icelandic ones were too colourful for me
It’s good to visit somewhere different though. It’s the short days in winter that would make living in Iceland difficult for me I think
Thank you for showing one Iceland’s largest city. Beautiful place, thank you mew friend 😊
Thank you! Glad that you enjoyed the video. I just subscribed to your channel too
That church at the start looks like something out of Dune (the new movies)
Yes, it’s a really cool looking building!
The city is peaceful and calm. Nice walkig tour.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it

What was the temperature? Is it that typical to have so little snow on the ground?
It was around zero Celsius. They have geothermal heating under the streets in central Reykjavik to keep them free of snow and ice during winter
Speak up for Palestine Iceland!
Thank you. I loved this. My old town has changed a lot. But it’s still very clean and fun to see. 🇮🇸❤️💕🇮🇸
Glad that you enjoyed it!
What an incredible city! I compared this automatically to many cities in the U.S. and we "fell short" by far! Are you sorry that you left?
@@PlumasCounty-nq8kk Not at all, I love the USA also.
@@PlumasCounty-nq8kk No, I’m not sorry that I left. I love the U.S.A. Also.
Good one.
It gives a small town impression with many small houses along this route. Even in the center. Looks very clean, and very quiet with few cars in the streets. Understand that Reykjavik, even with its small population is very spread out, with very few high rise buildings. Surprised to see no snow and ice in January.
