Anime has musical theater roots, for sure. Osamu Tezuka, the Godfather of manga and creator of Astro Boy, was a huge fan of the Takarazuka Revue, an all-woman musical theater company. Because of that, I’m sure you could find musical theater influences in tons of anime.

It probably does have a link even if it’s very minor, I love the idea that they were inspired by musical theatre

(LOTS of nerdiness alert) I need to take this opportunity to talk about one of my favorite animes ever, Love Live Sunshine!! Because it's about school idols so there's a LOT of songs and sometimes i try to apply your songwriting tips to their songs This video made me remember specifically of their movie's opening song, "Bokura no hashittekita michi wa...", since the background kinda sounds like a Broadway thing and the lyrics are about their journey until this point and the conflict of the story (the movie is about the oldest members of the group graduating and parting ways, i think the line "Receiving our friends' warm wishes as they see us off..." showcases that very well) Idk if any of this is relevant i just love Love Live ☝️

It's so nice to see someone on the internet "get" Cinderella. As a gay black man I always felt this strong connection to Cinderella's journey and it always upset me when people started to criticize her for....being abused and wanting love. Never sat well with me so it's so nice to see a deep dive on a character I love and also see someone talk about my absolute favorite disney cruise line show

Warrior of the Mind was legit the very first song that I heard from Epic. I think it's the reason Epic gained so much popularity.

I think it could've been interesting for angel to sing something along the lines of "Everything is horrible here, I wish I could live free and do simply relax but it's impossible so why should I fight for the impossible?" yaknow, give Angel the goal of resting and rebuilding his life at his own rithym but maintaining the hopelessness of not him feeling like he's able to reach that goal

The King is NOT wrong in the movie. He is a nice guy that got pushed to his limits. He kept giving and giving but never got. Asha and the townsfolk are spoiled and the real villains

The only part i like is during the song the camera zooms out of the chalk drawing of magnifcos face, after which the entire screen turns blindingly white. This subliminally references pain, to foreshadow his villainy.

What’s really funny about Welcome to Rosas is the fact that despite listening to it so many times I literally can’t remember the tune. Compare that to Belle, which is ingrained in my mind despite not listening to it for years.

Ok I'm rewatching this video for the Millionth time and I need to give my ideas for a magical city/kingdom. From the top of my head I can imagine: A. The lighting in the city are flowers that illuminate with different colors depending on the area. You can have the king's palace be lit by red/pink roses that get darker or lighter depending on how sane the King is. You can have the area where Asha lives be lit by sunflowers and when star comes down it makes them glow brighter because sunflowers feed of sunlight. Idk have some fun with the background please. B. you can have different stores that not only sell "regular" products but magical stuff as well. Like the typical store where wandering travelers find potions and weapons or a flying vehicles store powered by a magic kind of fuel that magnífico gave the owner because that was their wish, ya know to have something to power their Davinchi-esque machinery. C. How about magical creatures? show me a very manly dude who happens to have a bubbly, pink colored unicorn as a pet. Or maybe the King could have a dragon? you know like THE CLASSIC FAIRYTALES YOU WANT TO REFERENCE SO MUCH????? Ejem-got carried out there, sorry. D. What about paintings in the walls of the King's castle that can move? make them 2D and they could be assistants and yes-men for magnífico. Think about it, in his song they could be this little choir of angel-sounding voices that just say "yes" to everything magnífico says, and you can have him ask them stuff only to reply to himself and they just cheer because they're mindless drawings who just happen to move. Something like: Magnífico: Shadows! (in my mind he'd call them that), shall I destroy these wishes in order to give me the power I require to exterminate that pest of a girl whose ideas endanger my kingdom? Moving Drawings: Y- Magnífico: Oh of course this situation precises drastic and unorthodox measures! Shadows: (sounding angelically and soft) Yes my King! Precisely! E. Singing rocks that give the time of day like those gigantic bell towers in Europe. Like it's 12:00 and the Singing rocks just go "It is time~ Oh midday time~" and you can have this happen in the end of Welcome to Rosas. In your rewrite I imagine it being like this that Asha realizes how late she is before deciding to ignore it and lose her interview to help the lost boy. And that's it because this is already too long of a comment.

Hey after I watched this I immediately looked up this show on CZcams to see if I can find it and I watched it. I loved it Fred the evil fairy god father is the best Disney villain of all time I'm a Fred STAND!!! Anyways I know we are all done with Wish, but the theme that you mentioned at the end is what I believe is the main message of the movie Wish. So I'm gopsmacked that this song managed to deliver it better than that whole movie. Thanks for letting me say my peace have a good day.❤💐😊

Making Asha a rookie alchemist is such a fun take that could seriously spice up her design. Imo her design is kinda... flat? Especially for a movie about Wishes! Her hair could be partially braided but the back is wild and curly kinda like a puff of smoke from a potion! It could also be more dynamic for fun animation!
