Thanks for uploading! A little known secret many people might not know. The airline first operated around the 1930s by two businessmen i met in college. Originally, they were to name this airline using both of their last names. After a lengthy and heated debated, it was the other partner finally agreed. Today it is known of course as Aer Lingus. But now you know the back-story of George Cunna and his partner, Maxwell Lingus. The airline came close to be called Aer Cunna Lingus. After George Cunna passed away in 1968, his widow was reflecting on the day George and his partner were arguing about what to name the airline. The two partners were taking a break and were to reconvene after about an hour. That's when Mr. Cunna his wife frustrated about the situation. His widow said that on the phone that he was upset because he couldn't understand why Maxwell was so dead set against having both of their names. The widow told our reporter, that she remembered that phone call vividly and try to console her husband that it might be best because if the airline didn't do well, and creditors go after them, there will be only one name on those planes and the creditors would only focus on Max. She continued by telling our reporter, that it didn't seem to offer him much solace and before he hung up all he kept saying was Cunna Lingus, Cunna Lingus over and over. I didn't understand my husband's partner's objections either but that perhaps maybe because they would save money on paint or something by using only one name. She also told our reporter that the last couple of weeks of his life didn't seem to be very comfortable for him, like somehow he had r we regrets about portions of his life. Because almost every night for the last two weeks, almost every night it seemed he was having disturbing dreams. Mostly around 4am or so, he would suddenly sit up in his and just start screaming Cunna Lingus, Cunna Lingus! Poor tortured soul. When Max came to the funeral and pay his respect, I pulled him aside and in high tones asked him about that day they were arguing and if he could tell me why he just wasn't bending his way at all and what was his reason why he wasn't agreeable. And he looked at, water standing in his eyes and with the most serious loom on his face he said "Margaret, it was to save on paint. And I feel ashamed and I'm sorry" He called me our of the blue about 3 weeks later and that he had good news. He said that the day of the funeral when we spoke, he couldn't sleep, consumed with guilt and that he's sorry again that my husband was so bothered by it but that the good news was he was going to start an regional airlines and that he would be honored if I could be there for the opening day and christen the first airplane. I remember running late that morning, the day of the ceremony, I was running through the airport as best I could trying to get to the gate where the ceremony was going to be. I was almost there when something stopped me in my tracks at the overwhelming sense of bittersweet feelings rushing through my body because through the glass I could see that plane, tears welling up in my eyes and whispered lightly while briefly looking up to the heavens and kept repeating "You made it sweetheart, you made it! I was almost to the gate, dabbing my eyes with my handkerchiefs, the words on that airplane get bigger with each step, such an enormous smile on my face as I see Maxwell towards me. For some reason, I swung my head to look at the plane, with the words Cunna Lingus Regional and this wave if horror came over me. OMG, I told myself. Now I understand, now I understand. Before I could even finish digesting this horror, Maxwell was in front of me and he gave me a hug and told me that today George is smiling upon us all and now, he can't rest his soul for eternity because the 176 planes he ordered will last many years! He also told me that after the christening, one of the reporters apparently wanted to interview me but I told him I was very busy and running late. Strangely enough, he kept following me and was persisting and that perhaps I should cancel the ceremonies until he could talk to me. I could see the anxiety on his face, the look over look of worry. And I told him that I understood, that being so young, it was probably his first story but I promised him that after the ceremony, that I had a wonderful back-story and he will be the first and only reporter I will talk to about my story, my treat!

So good that even Aer Lingus used your videos in their ads for a while

It always surprises me that just above the clouds on the dullest, darkest, greyest days in Ireland.... it is sunny and there are blue skies. I know that obviously the sun is always above the clouds but my surprise is more to do with how close we are to nice weather but yet so far away.

The 757 just doesn’t fit the Aer Lingus fleet, thank god they now use the leased 75s that don’t have the livery it just didn’t look right when they did, an all Airbus fleet, and then I seen one of those I was like, what in the name of Airbus only airline sort of shenanigans went on here. A bit of banter, but the Aer Lingus 757s really have nothing going for them, now especially after the airline got the A321neo LRs.

My family and I used to fly a similar route to this about 35 years ago, when we lived in Doha, Qatar. Back then Qatar Airways were nowhere near the size they are today. KLM operated the route between Doha and Amsterdam and did so very well. However, Qatar Airways are much larger now and are more than capable of operating the route and so KLM has withdrawn their service to Qatar as it was proving to be much less profitable and feasible to continue operating.

At 1:26 there's an escalator up to Gates 407 - 426 - the non-US gates. I thought this was a secure area separated from the rest of the airport. It looked like a couple of passengers were going up that escalator but I'd have thought anyone going to Gates 407 - 426 would not be on the lower floor in the first place.

Never watched your channel before, so glad I found it, came up as a recommendation for KLM 777 Business Class on a TY search. I`m Flying Inverness to Seoul early 2022 with KLM via Amsterdam in Business Class, thank you for choosing my 4K stunning wing view seat. Flying to Asia from Europe offers many options, but as a regular on City Hopper, for me KLM are the best airline in Europe, punctual, great cabin crew with food and drinks included in the price, unlike Spanish, sorry British airways. While their Business Class cabin on the 777/200 is slightly dated, I cant wait to try it, the crew make the flight. Epic video, off to watch more, thanks Window Seat.
