Correct. Pay for the abilities on it and then you have a fully-engaged enchantment that's then online. Keep track of how many stages you've paid for with a die or something. It'll stay that way unless it leaves the battlefield.

It starts back at level 1; 717.2b A level is a designation that any permanent can have. A Class retains its level even if it stops being a Class. Levels are not a copiable characteristic.

@@ManfredPlusMagic thank you so much. This was the answer I was hoping for. Caretakers talent is a new class enchantment coming out in Bloomburrow. And it can be copied with Calix, Guided by fate (In both standard and EDH). Starting at level 2 or 3 is a huge difference, because it can target itself as a token. So I want the new copies to restart at 1.

Definitely doesn't hold up today... If you had some sort of tap engine to ping 3+ multiple times he's fun. But 6 mana is pretty steep for that effect and build up.

@@ManfredPlusMagic ya, like, it's such a useless ability on him, and that 1 defense, brutal. i didnt know he was part of a cycle though. i'll have to look into that more. amusingly there's an aura "desire" cycle from the original block he was first printed in that gave him first strike and a potential +3/0. the character has cool lore and I love that armor design they had back then for barbarians. man I miss it.

@nosrin1988 yeah his toughness is abysmal.... That aura cycle is pretty cool though. Not bad! And I like all the fleshing out characters had back then. Now it's just jump from one set to the next with that one guy that does stuff...

@@ManfredPlusMagic ya.... ever since war of the spark and the rise of commander sets have really gone downhill, at least bloom burrow looks fun! I dont mind a few 1 off sets here and there but I wish we still got the occassional 2 set block. Eldraine really should have been 2 sets, as well as strixhaven. ikoria and theros beyond death were fine as one but they should have held off on the next five triomes for a second ikoria visit. I always WISH we spent more time with kaldheim and focused on world building there. i would love for more foretell spells and cards that synergize with them!

@@nosrin1988 Agreed. I liked Kaldhiem as well, but we didn't get too much from it. I don't feel connected to any of the characters or the world because of the lack of world building. Like we were supposed to already have knowledge of ALL Nordic things beforehand. But I just found myself looking everything up because characters were just THE THING from real world lore, instead of having more of a backstory.

If the deathtouch creature has a low enough toughness, they would both die! So if the 1/1 had deathtouch, the moment it deals damage to the troll, it'll die as well as the troll.

@Bashelorparty nope, all creatures have summoning sickness unless stated otherwise.

Oh that's brutal...

yeah, some cards remains that can deal with that, like Farewell, Cyclonic Rift and mass sacrifice effects, but im pretty much protect against targeted removal and board wipes. The last part of the puzzle is usually to make a 3/3 zombie copy of Solitary Confinement through my commander, Anikthea and being able to sustain the maintenence cost of Solitary by drawing in other means. This is what playing online turns your deck into 🤣

I feel like it should be used as a win con, more than a stax piece. If you just shut it off for everyone half way through the game and hit for 3 damage a turn it becomes annoying. But if you slap this down and win right then, it's dope.
