3D Printed Cupboard Organizer
I designed and printed this kitchen cupboard organizer to hold Tupperware lids, silicone covers and pouches. It took 2 hours with Anycubic high speed resin, on the Anycubic Photon Mono M5s Pro. I'll put the file online at Cults3D and Printables.

DJI Mini 3 PRO Toroidal prop 37.40 after some flow simulation optimization. These produce the same lift at the same RPM. Noise profile is looks similar with about the same primary amplitude, but with slightly lower harmonics. I wouldn't say they sound better, but slightly different. I will post a comparison video of the standard prop so you can hear it in the same environment, although keep in ...

    I've heard about these, they look weird but seem to work well. Thanks for the video. Are these going into production at some point in the future, or are they designed for a specific type of drone?

      Hi. I'm still working to improve them with flow simulation. However, if it get them working well enough to be better than the standard prop, I already have some other parties interested in licensing the design. However, if everyone passes on buying them because they aren't that much better, then I'll certainly make them available for everyone to print. I would recommend using resin though. FDM will make a very rough surface with less strength in certain directions. You'll have to do a lot of sanding and finishing to make it smooth enough be of any value, and at that point the shape may have changed. It can be done, but it's best if you have sand blasting and painting equipment to get a good uniform finish. It's hard to find a material that holds its shape and then isn't so ridged it shatters at maximum RPM. But if I find a good resin to use and no one else is going to license and sell a molded/carbon fiber version of it, maybe I'll also consider selling them for people who don't have what's needed to print their own. Stay tuned and we'll see how it goes.

    soon as I saw the word “Toroidal” I knew 100% it was going to revolutionary sound wise! amazing job, do you mind if I post this video in the DJI SkyPixel group?

      You're welcome to post it. I have multiple videos with the progress over the last year. But the most recent comparison videos are where the design is currently at. Noise it's drastically different, and while they no longer cause overheating issues, they still aren't as efficient. I have flow simulations running in CAD right now and continue to refine the design, but I'm not sure if they will ever be better than standard props across all characteristics.

    • @digitalproto
      @digitalproto Před 3 měsíci

      I haven't seen any good ones for sale. The first versions just overheated the motors and had to land immediately. I made a new set every week for the last year to get them better and better. But they still aren't better than standard props.

      @digitalproto Před 4 měsíci

      @captainmichael787 True, FDM is pretty rough for propellers. You'd need to sand them a lot. My Anycubic was only $230 and has done an almost flawless job.

    • @digitalproto
      @digitalproto Před 4 měsíci

      Last year MIT did a study on toroidal props that said they made less noise. So since then many people have been testing that theory to see if it's true or not.

    Seems like broader spectrum prop noise but less efficient

    • @digitalproto
      @digitalproto Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah, the sound tends to be a little lower pitch and slightly more quiet in general. But I have yet to get better efficiency. Trying to retrofit to an existing motor probably isn't the optimal way to design and pair the motor and prop.

    • @digitalproto

      On the Mavic you always remove the propellers anyways because they have quick release props. But on the Mini 3, it isn't convenient to fit it into the standard bag.

When creating the feature driven pattern, the assembly origin was used for the centre point, match the post and assembly origin and all done :-) now for floxpress :(

    I suppose there's the chance that they broke something since I did this video in version 2010. Is your cylinder fully constrained or just concentric? If it has the - in front of the part name then it's free to spin and maybe that is causing a problem of some sort. You could add a straight feature in the sketch so that you can mate one of the cylinder planes to it so that they can't rotate and hope that does it. I don't know what it would be other than that.

  • @nopisstonsplease
    @nopisstonsplease Před 11 lety

    Thanks for the great video. I have followed your steps but with cylinders following the feature driven pattern. My cylinders don't stay mated to the surface feature. They start mated and finished mated but move away from the central post using a circle offset from the post. Any ideas? Thanks again

  • @digitalproto
    @digitalproto Před 14 lety

    There was some trial and error to get it right and dropping it at the start of my simulation allowed me to judge if the reactions were similar to my actual RC truck. Does that help? You can also just use a damper separate from a spring and both of mine are linear, however you can choose other orders as well.

  • @digitalproto
    @digitalproto Před 14 lety

    I made the shocks without a spring and then just selected the top and bottom surfaces of the shock to attach the spring in the motion analysis. If you know the K spring value and C damper value from your shock just enter them. I had to guess and knowing the weight of the vehicle helps narrow it down faster to a good number. I used K=6lb/in on the rear C=0.2 and K=2.5 C=0.1 on the front.

  • @rattlesnaker
