Culdesac Tempe: The First Car-free Community Built From Scratch in the US
Your mom cooked
This is ridiculous.... Its nothing more than an expensive apartment complex without a parking lot. The " grocery store" has a monopoly so their prices are higher than normal . I'm sure leftist will like the idea.
Putting the “unity” in community ❤
You own nothing and will be happy with it
I pay $400 a month for gas in California, maths aint mathing
No
You mean 15min cities where you can't spend outside of your designated zone.
Are you high? it’s just a neighborhood
I have a suggestion for you all at the Culdesac. If you are still building I suggest you run a couple of thousand ft. of trenches at 8ft. deep and run pipes through the bottom. Bring the pipes up into each unit and you have geo air conditioning. It would save thousands for your tenants in electricity bills, and you couldn't get more green. Imagine air-conditioned apartments for free, except for the electricity to power the fans and circulate the air through the pipes.
I know exactly where that Culdesac neighborhood in Tempe is. What if you work in Glendale, are you still allowed to have a car if you live there? Is there somewhere safe you can park your vehicle?
They have a couple parking lots from what I’ve seen but it doesn’t look like enough for everyone that lives there to have a car parked on the lot. It’s still only half built though
We don't offer residential parking and encourage our residents to use alternative modes of transportation but you can still choose to own a car and park it somewhere else :)
Yeah no I'm never going back to multi-unit housing if anything going to buy land away from all of you and start my own family/friend compound. People are stupid and will surrender independence for convenience
You're competing for housing against 30 million brand new people that walked accross the border in 4 years.
Yet people do it all over the world. It might not seem leisurely to you, but to many, it is not that bad. I ride my bike rain or shine, hot or cold, and so do millions of others. There is also the bus, uber, ride share, and the light rail if someone doesn't want to ride or walk in the heat. Plus, on a bike, you create your own cooling breeze, so refreshing. When it's hot, I spray a fine mist of water on myself, which cools me and feels good to boot.
I went to L.A the other day. They where selling some macaroons, and just one costed 20 dollars!!!!
Would be nice to have a park.
Please consider installing Tesla Solar Panels, Solar Roofs, and Power Walls to reduce electricity costs for residents 🌞
Walkable cities encourage people to be dependent on their government because the last of ability to freely travel without relying on public transportation
Ban Walmart
Building isnt the problem. Its the multiple owned property by greedy investors charging too hgih and letting housing sit empty. Its everywhere. Focus on the problem. Its greed.
will we get new construction updates on how progress is going? Last update was a year ago, I'm curious
Cars are nice, they are comfortable, it's effortless to drive, and they have climate control. Will never be crazy enough to swap a car for a bike.
City is fucking gay and so is walkable cities
I bought my home a few years before I turned 30. I chose a suburb because I like seeing nature instead of other peoples houses. I am close to the city though which is great to visit and go grocery shopping. I couldn’t justify 2x my suburb mortgage to rent in a city
Boomer media: Millennials ruined cities by moving out of them. Millennials ruined suburbs by moving to them. Millennials are ruining the economy by not spending money. Millennials are ruining their future by not saving money.
I actually just really got tired of everything. Im a 22 year old woman. I moved into mi up. Because i wanted a place to raise kids that the government hasnt messed up yet. I dont want gunshots in my neighborhood. Ya know what? I bake bread and spot deer through my window wandering through the neighborhood. I laugh at the siblings racing each other down the street. The literal street, not the sidewalk. We don't have sidewalk. Kids sled down the road in the winter. I love it because i have a garden and room to grow. Im tired of living in a concrete jungle full of idiots and road ragers and karens.
Amen. White flight will become even greater in the coming years of collapse.
"saving my money" by paying more rent for less?
You pay Less for rent because it's more dense.
culdescam
I call bullshit more than half wants to live in that type of neighborhood.
Lol everyone excited while not realizing this is an agenda being painted as wonderful when in reality it’s a 15 minute city that will be used to control people’s ability to come and go as they please…
Well me personally - none of the bicyclists in my suburb follow road rules while riding on the road. They cruise through stop signs like pedestrians, when they are on the road and required to follow road rules the same as vehicles. Half the time they do not ride in the bike specific lane, but 7-10mph in the middle of the road causing cars to slow down and create traffic. That’s why I get mad at them 🤷🏻♀️
A big reason for this behaviour is because of the fact that on those occasions, there really isnt a clear path or wide enough path for those cyclists For example to the right side there might also be people walking on the footpath and even impeding on the cyclists' lane, and to the other side there might be parked cars. Another thing is that it can be difficult to keep a straight and narrow line of travel when cycling. We need more Dutch-inspired traveling infrastructure reform. Where all modes of travel co-exist, but of course cyclists and walkers get priority on the same paths due to it being quicker, healthier, and more economical to cycle than if the same path was filled with cars
The servers one was so true 😂
This place rocks - what a fabulous idea - so innovative - coolest place to live in the country !!
Thanks for being a supporter!
Any plans to expand in other cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, or New York City?
We just announced Culdesac Atlanta and Culdesac Mesa, AZ!
We need more of this! And not just several small islands like this spread throughout the city, but right next to this one. Expand it as much as possible!
Thanks for the kindness!!

North America is healing
It's an apartment complex in the. Middle of 4th largest city in the nation. Definitely not a "car free community" just more expensive apartments that most can't afford
A 1 bedroom apartment there is 1400 a month. Sounds pretty reasonable to me. In NYC you'd pay almost three times that.
It has a lot of bicycle friendly places around, a light rail line that takes you to universities, the airport, and several business districts including downtown Phoenix, and offers discounted Lyft/Uber fares if you need to go somewhere else.
What about work?? How to these people go to work??
Residents are provided with a variety of mobility options like free light rail passes, access to e-bikes, discounts on ride share services, and more!
I really believe this type of planned, medium-density community can be expanded to more areas of the U.S. as a sort of brand. If I find a Culdesac in Texas, Ohio, or New Hampshire, I know it will be near a public transit point and offer many amenities just a walk away. I can imagine living in one Culdesac community, then moving to another Culdesac in a different state if I need a change of scenary, but not a change in transportation habits.
We recently announced Culdesac Atlanta so if people in Arizona need a change a scenery and not transportation habits they can make this a reality!
@@liveculdesac I love it!! Culdesac = Simple car-free bliss! When people see Culdesac, they’ll know the planning has already been done for them. 😌
NEEDS WATER COLLECTION SYSTEM
When yall upgrade add Wall panles that direct and help induce vapor drip for cooling and water collection. A Start could be Cactus forest on rooftops. Be a natural Vain and Water collector
I wanna see the prices
Where
We are currently in Tempe, and we just announced new locations in Mesa, Arizona and Atlanta!
Love
I lived in the La Paloma Apts next door when I attended ASU, just pre-light rail, when the Culdesac property was a trailer park and the staging ground for firearms celebrations on holidays. Yeah, it was that kind of neighborhood. I haven't lived in AZ since 2007, but I think this is a wonderful idea. It's already close to everything else. I used to bike all over. I'm rooting for its success
Thanks for being a supporter!
I give it less than 3 months before DGAF people that do not live in the community start parking their cars there.
@@johnnymoses5450 thankfully, there aren't many parking spaces for that kind of skullduggery
I love this place. My wife and I will be checking out the apartments soon. ❤
Thats awesome!
Welcome to Soda Soppa on top of Kennys house.
How will this place not turn into the ghetto!? Should be #1 answer and video cause..reasons yo
2 real questions: Why is it not designed to collect moisture and have more green space (yes terreformational like earth 2) NOT TO BE A RUDE PERSON BUT: How is it designed to eliminate the ills of Crime and poverty! I'm jaded that reminds me of the hood bruh
Don't go it's a.sham a 15 minute city,air.prison the globalist agenda bad idea..
Looks like a glorified prison camp combined with a nursing home. No thanks.
