Video is stupid, you are looking at real costs to live in Philippines,,,Been here 12 in Cebu, very misleading what you say....Tell costs to fly to Thailand and seek medical attention when serious illness....I have lived thru all this personally with partner getting $75,000 pesos shots for 6 months for real issue, and received very bad info on my echocardiogram in Cebu....I had redone in US, Cebu info was bull shit, I was okay, told different in major Cebu private hospital....

If you dont examine medical costs, you are misleading retirees, not to mention the medical care is very sub standard to western standards....you are not doing accurate portrayal...of real costs....

I wouldn’t come to Dumaguete now. The cost of living in the last year has skyrocketed. You can go to Cebu City and rent a house twice as nice for the same price. Also Cebu City has better shopping, better health care and better tourism. Traffic is also getting bad in Dumaguete.

Philippine is good for foreigners to visit but to stay you might need a business back in your home town to live confortable here. Life here is tough. Main issue here are thief, rebel group and, people who support China annexation. Most of them are Chinese from China.

You visit concentrated in the business district. It's evolving.

After a lifetime of working most of us are looking to relax and enjoy the last season of our life. Dumaguete is a great place for a new expat to come, spend a year or two while making the adjustment into retirement. In those couple years you can determine what your new goals are, discover and learn the culture and hopefully find a partner if that is what you are seeking. In addition in that time you have also taken the opportunity to explore Negros and other Island's in an attempt to truly determine where you want to live. My first 6 years in country were in Dumaguete, for me it was a great place to start. I very much agree with the comments about this country is not for everyone, so true. My advice to the new expats is go slow when you arrive, crawl, walk then run. Make no major decisions in the first 12 months and eventually get out into a small town away from Dumaguete. IMHO the best kept secret on Negros is Bindoy and Bayawan. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

I made a mistake and moved to Bacolod a few months ago and this place doesn't compare to IloIlo. I've been in the Philippines for almost three years and I lived North and Angales City before and I am moving back up there in a few weeks because I just don't like this area at all and neither does my filipina wife.

I really liked Iloilo. I was there Nov 2023 for a week, and May 2024 for 10 days. I would certainly consider living there. In fact, it's on my list for my long stay there for up to a year.

When builder's give discount that means sales are slowing down, signals that condo bubble is popping. There are over supply of condo's for investment (airBnB) in Iloilo, soon there will be a lot of distress seller selling this units in the market due to negative income per month. It will get worst soon due combination of pre-selling units, RFO's and distress sellers, they will be competing each other to sell these units. There will be a firesale coming.
