Day Out With Thomas at Tweetsie Railroad (June 15, 2024)
In mid June of 2024, Tweetsie Railroad hosted their Day Out With Thomas event, featuring the 2024 bubbles tour. During this annual event, Thomas can be seen through the blue ridge mountains with the help of ET&WNC number 12.

April 6th, 2024 marked Tweetsie Railroad’s 67th season of operation since opening in 1957. For the first time, there were 2 green excursion cars on the consist. On Saturday, September 30, 2023 the North Carolina Transportation Museum had a visit from Thomas and Percy. They would pull the excursion cars and 7 cabooses to fit as many people in the event as possible. Pushing Thomas’s train was Southern 2601, and Norfolk and Western 620 helped push Percy’s train.

Let's just hope that the repair to the cracked driver center is short lived. Until she is ready, one of the diesels, the one painted like an LGB engine will pull the trains over the rest of this spring and coming summer until the predicted time of repair completion around the August/September time frame. My info came via an FEBT(Friends of the East Broad Top) news letter up date last week.
The wait for 16 to return is unfortunate for sure. LGB engine is a unique name for the diesel 😂. Definitely hoping to see 16 back in action sooner than later.

I filmed directly above the public gravel road to not trespass and kept a safe distance from everything. Not sure I'll ever do it again at tweetsie specifically but it was worth shooting no doubt.

In a way yes. There’s the smallest chance 154 runs this year although I was told by the crew that 203 would be seen in 2024. They will likely introduce summer excursions with 203 again
